Soorin choked on air. "What? No. I didn't—"
"Yes, you did. I can tell. A mother always knows."
"That's insane—"
"Is it? Because you're blushing. And you just confirmed it with that reaction."
Soorin wanted to disappear. Maybe crawl into the closet Haejin had shoved her in earlier and never come out.
"Mom—"
"Who was it?" Her mother leaned closer to the screen. The playful tone vanished, replaced by something sharper. More serious. "What happened? Did someone—were you safe? Did anyone drug you?"
"What? No! Mom, no one drugged me."
"You're sure? Because I got a text from the security team last night. They said you went to an after-party venue and left alone looking—"
"Wait." Soorin held up a hand. "The security team texted you?"
"Of course they did. They're supposed to watch you. Keep you safe."
"By spying on me?"
"It's not spying. It's protection."
"It's invasive."
