He laughed.

The tension radiating off him.
The trembling hands.

She should move.
Put distance between them.
But she couldn't.
"Why do you always show up when I break?"
His voice was barely a whisper.

"Every time. When I'm at my worst. You're there. Seeing it. Seeing me."
"Is that bad?"
"It's terrifying."
"Why?"
"Because I can't hide from you."
He ran a hand through his hair.
"And I hate it. And I need it. And I don't know what to do about it."
She swallowed.
