Two minutes passed with Natalia just staring blankly at him, not saying a word.
"Did you hear what I just—"
"I think she heard you. She's just trying to process it," Helena interrupted. "I can understand why it's so shocking to her. It is to me too, that this is that little girl Maria birthed. We all thought she died. That's what your mother had us believing. But my precious sister's baby lives on. She's alive," she burst into fake tears, and Daniela swiftly provided her with a box of tissue.
"Child, you're not saying anything." Giovanni worriedly searched her face.
"She's probably screaming for joy inside of her. Maybe we should all leave and give her a minute to process everything," Daniela added in a bored tone.
"No! I can't leave until she tells me she forgives me for rejecting her in the humiliating way I did," Giovanni countered.
Daniela and Helena exchanged secret glances.
Every word Giovanni said served as justification for what they were going to do to him.
