Chapter 411 - Chapter 411: The Failed Genjutsu

Chapter 411: The Failed Genjutsu

"Blaze Release: Flame Raijin!"

Sasuke pointed his right hand at Li Yao high above. Amaterasu's black flames condensed into a longsword and shot out like lightning.

If someone tried to dodge the moment the blade was launched, it would be too late.

But just as Obito had once complained, the moment chakra began gathering in Sasuke's eyes to form Amaterasu, Li Yao already sensed it with his heightened perception.

And if an attack is foreseen, no matter how fast it is, dodging becomes easy.

Whoosh!

Li Yao instantly teleported above Minato and cast a genjutsu directly on him.

At that distance, genjutsu would land fastest.

Li Yao aimed to immediately control Minato—the fastest of them all—then shift his Obito clone to safety.

At that moment, Minato was using sealing techniques to disrupt the seal keeping the Ten-Tails locked inside the clone's body.

The moment he touched the Obito clone, Minato had already cracked the internal seal. The Ten-Tails began violently struggling to escape.

But the Obito clone reacted swiftly, binding the Ten-Tails with sealing chains and forcibly pulling it back into the sealing space.

Minato hadn't expected the clone's mastery of sealing arts to be this high—or his chakra control to be so insanely precise.

Even with the seal broken and the Ten-Tails rampaging, Li Yao's clone still managed to drag it back into submission.

Thus, Minato couldn't move. He had to maintain his interference, or the clone would regain focus and teleport away—or counterattack. Then it would be much harder to strike again with Flying Thunder God.

Likewise, the Obito clone couldn't move either. He was fully focused on suppressing the Ten-Tails and enduring Minato's interference. He couldn't use Flying Thunder God or other jutsu.

The situation was like a standoff in a martial arts novel—two masters locked in a struggle of inner power, unable to move without consequence.

If the clone lost focus, the Ten-Tails would break free.

And with Six Paths Naruto and Sasuke nearby, there would be no second chance to become the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki.

That's why Li Yao needed to eliminate Minato—who could teleport at any moment.

From Minato's side, Naruto and Sasuke could have simply killed the clone from the beginning, but for some reason, they didn't.

Li Yao could guess: it was probably Minato's decision.

"Hm… it didn't work?"

"How's that possible?"

After casting the genjutsu and seeing Minato unfazed, a flash of shock crossed Li Yao's eyes. His genjutsu had no effect on the reanimated Minato.

That made no sense!

Even reanimated Madara had been affected by his genjutsu—if only slightly. Minato wasn't known for genjutsu resistance. Why wasn't he affected?

Even if Kurama was sealed inside Minato, Li Yao had accounted for that. His genjutsu targeted both Kurama and Minato at once.

It should have worked.

Li Yao was confused—but there was no time to dwell on it.

Realizing the genjutsu failed, he immediately switched tactics. Raising his hand, he unleashed a Wind Style sage chakra-enhanced slash to force Minato away.

Shhh!

The sage-powered Wind Slash was devastating—cutting silently through the ground for hundreds of meters.

But no matter how strong an attack is, it's useless if it misses.

Whoosh!

Li Yao's field of vision shifted again. Sasuke had teleported him from above Minato to Sasuke's former position, causing Li Yao's attack to hit nothing.

Tch!

Before Li Yao could respond, Naruto's black Truth-Seeking staff was already swinging at him. The duo's coordination was flawless.

This time, however, Li Yao had anticipated it. He teleported into the sky, dodging the strike.

"Damn it, he dodged again!"

Naruto looked back, visibly frustrated. Twice now, Li Yao had escaped their surprise attacks.

Worse, Sasuke's abilities were now exposed. Hitting Li Yao would only get harder from here.

"Amenotejikara, huh…"

High above, Li Yao observed Sasuke flipping through the air, landing beside Minato.

He had been wary of Sasuke's Rinnegan spatial ability, which was why Naruto hadn't succeeded earlier.

Still, Sasuke's reflexes were impressive. As expected of someone with straight-tomoe Sharingan—his reaction time was elite.

Pairing that with space-time swapping was indeed dangerous.

Even though Sasuke's Rinnegan abilities were just like in the original timeline, Li Yao now realized:

With Sasuke present, sneak attacking Minato was no longer possible.

Six Paths Sasuke now had reflexes on par with Naruto. That genjutsu earlier was Li Yao's only chance—now missed.

"What a shame."

"It's either the Sage's interference… or Edo Tensei resurrected shinobi are naturally immune to genjutsu."

Li Yao speculated.

He recalled that when Madara cast Infinite Tsukuyomi in the original story, reanimated shinobi like Hashirama weren't affected.

Maybe the Sage chose Edo Tensei instead of full resurrection for Minato and the others precisely to block Li Yao's genjutsu.

The Sage had seen it in action on Tsunade—he surely understood its threat.

In any case, taking the Obito clone away wouldn't be so easy now.

That being the case… it was time to negotiate.

"My only remaining goal in this world is to study the power of the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki," Li Yao said as he looked down at Naruto and the others. "Just let me research Obito for two days, and I promise I'll leave this world. I'll return both Obito and the Ten-Tails to you. How about it?"

"How about it…?"

Naruto's expression was stormy. He looked around at the barren land, sensing only a few remaining chakra signatures. Then he glared back up at Li Yao.

"You destroyed my village, killed my comrades and teachers—and now you have the nerve to ask me how I feel?"

"I'll never let you do as you please again! That's my answer!"

Naruto's fierce voice echoed throughout the crater.

"Well said… young man."

The First Hokage and the others had just arrived. They were deeply moved by Naruto's words—especially Hashirama. His eyes locked on Li Yao, colder than ever.

"Unforgivable."

"You turned my village into this… That is unforgivable."

"Someone like you is far too dangerous. We must eliminate you here and now."

Hashirama had never been so furious. The Konoha he and Madara built together—ruined. His granddaughter's fate still unknown.

And the one responsible dared to suggest walking away—asking for their opinion?

As if sparing them further destruction was a favor?

That arrogance, that disdain for others—it was insufferable.

Hashirama Senju would never forgive such a person. And he would never let this threat persist.
