Chapter : 6 : Tentions On The Field :
Location : Xiao Clan Training Ground :
At this moment inside the Xiao clan training ground there was a huge crowd gathered around .
Both young and old can be seen waiting with excitement and anticipation on their faces.
On the VIP seat various high ranking members of the clan sat .
At the centre of them sat the second elder - Xiao Peng .
Beside him on two sides sat 2 more elders of the clan .
On the left side sat an old man with a arrogant expression .
His name is Xiao Fu the fourth elder who specifically came to see his grandson's performance .
On the right side sat a middle aged woman named Xiao Mei who was the 5th elder of the clan .
She was also the head of the Alchemy division within the clan .
" There are quite a lot of young talents in this year don't you think second elder . " - said the 5th elder who looked at the crowd of young cultivators with a relieved smile .
However before the second elder could reply a sound of disgruntled scoff came from his side .
" Good ? You call this good 5th elder . I say this is the worst batch of cultivators in a few decades I have ever seen . "
" Except for my grandson , that Xiao Yun girl and Xiao Wuya the grandson of the first elder I don't see anyone who can be called worthy of the Xiao surname . " - Xiao Fu said as he looked at the crowd below with a disdainfull expression .
To him accept for this 3 which included his dear grandson everyone else here were talentless and average at best something that lowered the status of the clan in his mind .
This attitude however made those heard it look at him with anger but they couldn't say anything .
" You are far too harsh on them fourth elder . "
" They are young and not all fingers of the hand are the same that doesn't mean they are useless . Itne means they need to work together just like how our clan needs to work together . " - the fifth elder replied back extremely unhappy with what Xiao Fu said .
To be honest she and many other elders of the clan can't stand Xiao Fu .
Not only was he arrogant but selfish as well always treating others including his own clan members with disdain as if they were unworthy of even staying in the same clan as him .
And moreover it seems he encourages such behaviour in his grandson Xiao Zhan always trying to pin him against Xiao Yun the daughter of the current clan head Xiao Fang .
Xiao Fu's animosity towards the current clan head was an open secret and he never made any true efforts to hide it .
But since he was not strong enough to match Xiao Fang in cultivation strength he never spoke out too loud .
" Scoff ! You don't have what it takes to lecture me you little girl . I am not only stronger than you in cultivation but in experience as well . " - Xiao Fu scoffed and casually dismissed Xiao Mei .
" Why you ... " - seeing such blatant insult Xiao Mei who till now had kept her composure got angry instantly and was about to talk back when suddenly the second elder raised his hands .
" Enough ! The young one's are watching . Show some dignity as elders . " - Xiao Peng said his voice old but carried immense authority .
Hearing this Xiao Mei who say down quietly as Xiao Peng looked towards Xiao Fu .
" And Fourth elder Xiao Fu please refrain your words . Don't forget that Elder Xiao Mei is also an elder of the clan like you and her Alchemy division is one of the greatest contributions to the clan .
" Moreover weither someone is strong enough to be a member of our clan is not something for you to decide forth elder . " - he said his voice giving a warning to the fourth elder .
To be honest even the second elder did not like Xiao Fu .
The second elder obviously as one of the eldest member of the clan knew what was the real problem behind the fourth elder's anger especially towards the current clan head .
Long ago both the fourth elder and the current clan head Xiao Fang where one of the top contenders for the next clan had position .
But then on a mission when both of them went together the fourth elder at that time suffered an injury which directly reduced his cultivation strength .
The injury was caused by an high ranking magical beast which directly affected his cultivation core almost entirely damaging his meridian which could have costed him his entire cultivation journey .
And it became one of the greatest reasons why he couldn't become the clan head.
And afterwards he blamed the entire thing on the current clan head believing that he was behind his injury by purposefully not helping him when he fought the magical beast so that later he would naturally get out of the competition for the clan head position .
Obviously no such thing happened as Xiao Fang at that time tried to help but he was busy evacuating the other weaker clan members in the area along with some villagers .
So by the time he came there it was already too late and he could only take Xiao Fu and escape the area .
But in his anger Xiao Fu wouldn't believe a single word Xiao Fang said even if the evidence was kept infront of him .
Afterwards Xiao Fang became the clan had which only proved to Xiao Fu that his speculations were correct .
Since then the Xiao Fu had always tried to make conflicts with the clan head trying to digrade his authority on every step .
And now he wanted his grandson Xiao Zhan to defeatXiao Fang's daughter to further stir up the pot .
" Hmph ! " - Xiao Fu didn't argue any further but his attitude already spoke about how he felt about the matter .
While this heated debate was going on the VIP seats and entirely different storm was going on the area where the young cultivators were standing .
" What did you say ? Say that again to my face if you have the strength to . " - shouted a young female cultivator angrily at the boy infront of him .
" What are you deaf ? I said that Xiao Yun has nothing to boast about , she just uses her status as the clan head's daughter to win every match . " - the boy replied with a smirk .
" Yes ! That's right you youself shouldn't follow someone like her . Infact why not follow Xiao Zhan like us . He is far better than that Xiao Yun . " - said another person beside the boy .
" How dare you ! We will never follow someone as arrogant as Xiao Zhan . " - shouted a young man beside the previous lady clearly offended by how the other side talked about Xiao Yun .
At this moment at a corner of the ground Xiao Ming quietly set under a tree watching the commotion going on .
" Sigh ! This is troublesome . "
What happened was that just a few moment everything was going well as people were excited to see who would come at the top of this competition .
Obviously many were talking and sharing their thoughts as to who will come at the top .
It was at that time some of the members who followed Xiao Zhan came and started talking loudly about how Xiao Yun was not as strong as she claimed and other things .
This however obviously offended those who followed and saw Xiao Yun as an idol figure .
Soon both of the groups started to argue back and forth attracting more and more attention from the surroundings .
To be honest Xiao Ming felt it was default of the group supporting Xiao Zhan .
And it was not the first time that's something like this happened .
In past they were many incidents where they have proactively started such conflicts with Xiao Yun's supporters without any reasons .
' And non of them even reached the mid Qi sensing stage . ' - Xiao Ming thought to himself quite sure he can take all of them down in a fight without any real efforts .
These people were exactly like those cowards who can only bark and shout at others but then hide behind their master whenever a strong opponent came in front of them .
' As they say empty vessels makes the most noise ( metaphor ) . ' - he silently shook his head .
These people have no knowledge nor the strength to back their position so they try to dominate through shoutings .
On the other hand someone like Xiao Yun let's her action speak for herself .
Just as the argument between the two groups was reaching a high point a cold voice cut through the area .
" Stop ! "
This stoped everyone in the scene including those who were on the support of Xiao Zhan .
" Here she comes . " - Xiao Ming said softly to himself .
When everyone looked at the source of the voice they found a beautiful lady wearing a blue dress walking in a composed and elegant manner .
Her eyes were cold and decisive just like her voice and the very sight of her showed authority .
This was of course non other than Xiao Yun .
Seeing her coming all her followers who were just now were arguing with the other side quickly formed the around her greeting her and complaining about the situation .
At first Xiao Yun did not wish to get into this argument because such things happened lot before.
But seeing the commotion getting bigger and bigger and that too in front of the elders she decided to come.
While it may sem that she does not care much about the situation she does care about her followers and felt it was her duty to stand for them when they were standing up for her .
After listening to the entire story she looked coldly at Xiao Zhan's followers which made them recoil in fear .
" So you think I am not strong enough and I am just lying about my real strength . " - she asked her voice becoming even colder than before .
However at her question no answer came because just like Xiao Ming thought before these people only acted tough and brave until Xiao Yun appeared .
Now all they do was to look at each other hoping that someone will be the one to speak up .
" Well ! well ! well ! Look who's here ! miss Ice qween herself . " - at this moment a rough and arrogant voice came as a young man steeped out from the crowd.
He had brown hair and black eyes and a face that simply showed the pure definition of arrogance and overconfidence .
This was non other than Xiao Zhan .
" Brother Xiao Zhan you are finally here . "
" Brother Xiao Zhan please help us this Xiao Yun is too much . "
" Yes brother show them your power . "
Seeing Xiao Zhan making his appearance Xiao Yun's eyes narrowed understanding that now the matter is about to escalate even further .
And perhaps sensing the same thing everyone nearby who were just watching the show also fell back to a safe distance .
But more than anyone else it was Xiao Ming who paid most attention to this new development .
' So you finally arrived Xiao Zhan my today's opponent . '
