Chapter 133 - Chapter 15: Turning Monsters into Experience

This venomous snake did have some skill.

If it were someone else, they might have already been hit.

Unfortunately, the one it ambushed was Emiya.

In the Swindler's Swamp, Emiya never let his guard down.

He constantly maintained Observation Haki, and at the same time, Nen covered both himself and Robin.

So the moment the venomous snake made its move, Emiya sensed it.

A hand formed from Nen shot out and easily grabbed the snake.

Emiya was originally planning to crush it outright.

But at that instant, a strange thought surfaced.

In the strange world of Konosuba, everything possessed a soul.

Once a creature was eaten, killed, or had its life activity forcibly ended, part of its soul's memory would be absorbed.

That fragment was collectively referred to as experience points.

However, in other worlds, animals and monsters also had souls.

It was just that after killing them, no experience points could be obtained.

This was likely due to differences between worlds.

Some worlds had spiritual energy, some had magic power, and some had nothing at all.

So if monsters from other worlds were brought into Aqua's world and killed there, would their souls then provide experience points?

After all, Emiya himself came from another world, yet he could still level up after entering this one.

There was no reason monsters brought here wouldn't do the same.

From Emiya's perspective, if he could gain experience, then monsters should naturally provide it as well.

There was no doubt this was worth testing.

With that decision made, Emiya brought the venomous snake to an abandoned castle outside Axel.

It was the same castle the headless horseman once occupied.

Now that the headless horseman was gone, the place had returned to being abandoned.

Emiya found it ideal.

It was secluded and unlikely to attract the attention of Axel's adventurers.

There, Emiya took out his adventurer card and directly killed the venomous snake.

Once the snake died, the experience bar on the card moved forward slightly.

Only about one percent.

The gain was small, but it proved his theory.

As long as a monster was brought into this world and killed, part of its soul could be absorbed as experience points.

This was likely a rule of the world.

...Interesting.

Maybe the next time he saw Aqua, he would already be a level 99 big shot.

After confirming the result, Emiya returned to the Hunter world and resumed searching for monsters in the wetlands.

Waiting Giant Frogs.

Hypnotic Butterflies.

Lying Crows.

One after another, they became his experience points.

Without realizing it, Emiya leveled up again and gained several skill points.

Robin noticed Emiya disappearing with monsters repeatedly, only to suddenly reappear and continue hunting.

She finally asked, "What are you doing?"

Emiya didn't hide it and calmly explained everything.

Robin looked surprised. "A world like that actually exists?"

"It does," Emiya replied evenly. "And there's more than one."

Before transmigrating, he had read plenty of similar manga.

The trope of traveling to another world and leveling up by fighting monsters was hardly new.

Robin could only sigh. "The world really is full of wonders."

...

A few hours later, Emiya and Robin continued wandering through the wetlands.

By then, Emiya had already leveled up twice and had nearly exhausted his daily transmigration limit.

When he first awakened this ability, he could use it more than a hundred times a day.

After transmigrating, that number dropped to ten.

Today, however, he had forcefully used it more than ninety times in one stretch.

Now, only five uses remained.

To avoid unexpected situations, Emiya decided to stop for the day.

He would continue tomorrow.

Once a new day began, he could transmigrate a hundred more times again.

Aahhh-

Mournful screams suddenly rang out from the left.

Emiya and Robin exchanged a glance and moved toward the sound.

Before long, they arrived at the source.

Several people were sprawled on the ground in disarray, playing cards embedded in their faces, necks, and arms.

They were clearly Hunter Exam examinees.

Emiya and Robin had been wandering for hours, so these people should have caught up by now.

They hadn't expected to be attacked here.

The attacker stood ahead, smiling widely at Emiya.

It was the famous freak of the Hunter world.

Hisoka.

"Oh? Aren't you the two who reached the exit first?" Hisoka chuckled. "Everyone thought you trespassed into the Swindler's Swamp and died. I didn't expect you to still be alive."

Emiya glanced at the examinees writhing on the ground, then back at Hisoka.

Just as he was about to speak-

Whoosh!

A playing card shot toward Emiya's throat like lightning.

Before it could reach him, it was deflected by the Nen barrier around his body.

Puchi.

The rebounded card embedded itself deeply into a large tree.

Emiya's expression darkened.

No one would be in a good mood after being attacked for no reason.

"As expected. An unreasonable lunatic," Emiya said.

Hisoka didn't care.

"People say that a lot. I was just testing you on behalf of the examiner. To see if you're qualified to be a Hunter."

"With what authority?" Emiya replied flatly. "That's not for you to decide."

Hisoka laughed. "At least here, it is."

"Why? Because you're strong?"

"Exactly. Because I'm strong."

"Then you're wrong," Emiya said. "Here, I'm the strong one."

Boom!

The moment his words fell, an explosion erupted in front of Hisoka.

The impact blasted him backward, slamming him into a massive tree.

Nen combined with the Bomu Bomu no Mi was overwhelming.

Those unable to perceive Nen had no way to defend against Emiya's attacks.

He could detonate Nen from any direction.

The power was extreme, and the angles were unpredictable.

Most people wouldn't even understand what happened before being defeated.

Peh!

To Emiya's surprise, Hisoka didn't lose his fighting ability.

He stood up quickly, spat out blood, and stared at Emiya with caution.

"That was your Nen ability just now?"

Emiya didn't answer.

That explosion had been strong.

He wouldn't have been surprised if Hisoka had lost limbs.

But apart from coughing up blood, Hisoka showed no obvious injuries.

That level of defense...

"I see. Ten," Emiya muttered.

Ten was a Nen technique capable of defending against attacks from all directions.

In the instant the explosion occurred, Hisoka had activated it.

That was why he was only blown away, not torn apart.

"It can protect you," Emiya said coldly. "But let's see how long it lasts."

Boom. Boom. Boom.

Explosions erupted all around Hisoka.

Each carried power comparable to a hand grenade.

Caught in the center, Hisoka had no way to dodge.

He couldn't predict when the next blast would occur.

Shockwaves hammered his body repeatedly.

Even with Ten active, the impact damaged his internal organs.

Blood spilled inside.

Whoosh!

Hisoka forced his way out of the explosion zone.

With a flick of his hands, playing cards flew toward Emiya.

They were stopped three meters away by the Nen shield.

Boom!

Another explosion detonated directly on Hisoka's face.

The impact sent him flying again.

His brain was violently shaken.

Blood flowed from his nose, ears, and mouth.

Anyone else would have collapsed.

But the moment he landed, Hisoka sprang up again.

This time, he charged toward the dense forest behind him.

Using the wetlands' fog, he vanished within moments.

He wasn't stupid.

He knew he couldn't defeat Emiya and didn't even understand the nature of the attacks.

Staying would only mean death.

So he escaped.

Emiya didn't pursue him.

Hisoka had attacked first, but Emiya had already slammed him into the ground repeatedly.

No matter how it was viewed, Emiya hadn't lost.

If they met again and Hisoka still dared to attack, Emiya wouldn't mind repeating it.

"Let's go. We should head to the next stage."

Emiya motioned to Robin.

The people behind them had already caught up.

If they lingered, elimination was possible.

More importantly, he only had five transmigration chances left.

It was time to reach the second exam site.

Soon, Emiya led Robin out of the Swindler's Swamp.

They arrived at the second exam venue.

Visca Forest Park.
