Chapter 130 - Chapter 12: The Examination Site

What did it mean for a ten-year-old girl to defeat a hundred men?

That alone was enough to make Emiya feel that the Hunter world was full of freaks.

And Killua, one of the main group members, was also a freak.

He had started training at the age of three. At six, his father threw him into Heavens Arena, where he spent two years fighting his way up to the 200th floor.

At twelve, he participated in the Hunter Exam and casually killed a martial artist who had trained for many years.

After returning home, he pushed open the Zoldyck family's Testing Gate, which weighed sixteen tons.

What made it even more absurd was that he didn't even know Nen at the time.

That was a bit too exaggerated.

If this guy were thrown into the world of One Piece, even if he wasn't comparable to a young Big Mom, learning Haki would be effortless. Becoming an Admiral would only be a matter of time.

He might even break the Navy's record and become the youngest Admiral in history.

Emiya had already been in this world for several days.

He had checked carefully. Humans in this world were no different from humans on Earth. Flesh and blood, no exceptions.

For Killua to reach this level, aside from his terrifying talent and the Zoldyck bloodline, the most critical factor was the Zoldyck family's training methods.

There was no doubt about it.

Those methods were the most advanced training methods imaginable.

The Zoldyck family wasn't unique in this regard. Other families, dojos, martial artists, and fighters also had their own training systems and cultivation techniques.

After years of training and real combat, the experts they produced were no worse than the masters of Ryōzanpaku.

This was precisely why Sakaki had been so comfortable on the lower floors, yet gradually began to struggle as he climbed higher.

There was nothing he could do.

Anyone who made it this far was not simple.

No one was inferior to anyone else, and even Sakaki couldn't defeat his opponents quickly.

Emiya estimated that with Sakaki's strength, reaching the 200th floor wouldn't be a problem.

It would just take time.

About three months. Possibly even longer.

There was no way he could do it in a short period.

The same situation applied to Shigure Kōsaka.

When she fought an opponent on the 150th floor, she encountered someone strong and was nearly knocked off the ring.

Fortunately, at a critical moment, she used a very risky method and barely secured victory.

Among the three, the only one who could advance without being stopped was the Invincible Superman, Hayato Furinji.

This vigorous old man was a top-tier martial artist even by Hunter world standards.

He fought straight through and had already cleared the 180th floor.

Given a few more days, reaching the 200th floor would not have been an issue.

Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time.

The Hunter Exam was about to begin.

Reluctantly, the three of them had to temporarily leave Heavens Arena. Led by Emiya, they set off together with Isshō and Robin.

"Heavens Arena really is a great place. I wish I could stay a bit longer," Sakaki sighed as they left.

The past few days had been extremely fulfilling for him.

He fought every day, and sometimes watched others fight.

Not only did it broaden his horizons, it also helped him identify his own shortcomings.

Even though it had only been five short days, he could clearly feel his progress.

If he stayed here for a few months, his strength would definitely increase rapidly.

Shigure Kōsaka stood beside him and nodded silently.

Hayato Furinji laughed.

"This place really lives up to the advertisements. It truly is a holy land for martial artists."

Emiya spoke calmly.

"If you want, you could build a Heavens Arena in your own world."

Sakaki was tempted for a moment, but ultimately shook his head.

"Forget it. Something like this can't be built by ordinary people. Ryōzanpaku isn't qualified to create such a holy place. But the Yomi-"

"The Yomi can't either," Hayato Furinji interrupted immediately.

"To build something like this, you need a country's support. No nation would openly back the Yomi in constructing something like this."

"The most important thing is that martial arts in our world aren't as developed as they are here."

Their world did have fighters and martial artists.

It even produced someone like Hayato Furinji.

But compared to this world, it was insignificant.

After all, their world was still just an ordinary world.

The Hunter world was different.

In addition to ordinary people, there was the Dark Continent, bizarre beasts, and even phantom beasts.

This world couldn't be called purely martial-focused, but it was close.

Take Heavens Arena as an example.

More than four thousand people signed up every day.

What about their world?

Even if they built a small Heavens Arena, how many people would actually challenge it each year?

That was completely unknown.

While everyone chatted, Emiya opened a Spatial Gate.

He led them directly to this year's Hunter Exam location.

Kent City.

Although Emiya had never been there before, he could still reach it.

All he needed were a few photos found online.

The Spatial Gate made that possible.

A convenient shortcut.

After arriving in Kent City, examinees normally had to follow clues left by the Hunter Association to locate the exam venue.

This was also part of the test.

The primary purpose was to reduce the number of applicants.

Every year, the number of applicants was as numerous as cattle hair. Many were arrogant fools who came just to make up the numbers.

So the Hunter Association placed various traps along the way to eliminate the weak.

The venue changed every year and was always set somewhere difficult to find.

Without a guide, examinees would struggle to reach it.

Applicants first had to find a guide.

After the guide confirmed their qualifications, they could be led to the venue.

Through this process, a large number of unqualified applicants were eliminated.

Those who remained were elites from all walks of life.

However, Emiya already knew the plot.

He knew the venue's location.

So he skipped the clues entirely and went straight to Camellia Tree Street, Section 2, Number 5.

A barbecue restaurant.

When Emiya and the others entered, the plump owner asked,

"What would you like to order?"

"I'd like the steak set. Slow-roasted."

The owner glanced at the group.

"You look like newcomers. Didn't expect such excellent newcomers this year."

The Hunter Exam hadn't been underway for long, yet someone had already arrived.

It surprised him.

They were too fast.

A pretty waitress walked over.

"Everyone, please follow me."

Emiya nodded and followed her.

They entered a room.

The waitress smiled faintly, stepped back, and activated a mechanism.

With a soft tremor, the floor began to descend.

Isshō couldn't help but exclaim.

"What an ingenious mechanism."

Everyone nodded.

After a while, the room reached the bottom and the door opened.

They stepped out into a vast underground tunnel.

It was empty.

"Is this the exam venue?" Sakaki looked around. "Looks like we're the first ones here."

"That's right. You are the first group to arrive."

A short, strange creature appeared.

It had a bean-like face, no nose, and no ears.

It held several numbered badges and handed them out one by one.

Sakaki was startled.

He hadn't noticed where the creature came from at all.

"Are you the examiner?" he asked.

"I'm just an assistant. The real examiner is behind you."

Sakaki turned around sharply.

A human face was right in front of his own.

Their noses were almost touching.

He retreated several steps instantly before getting a clear look.

The man wore a suit.

Light purple spiky short hair.

A curly mustache.

He looked like a refined gentleman.

"I remember you. Sakaki, right?" the man said. "I'm Satotz. The examiner for this stage. Only the first stage."

Sakaki finally recovered.

A fine layer of goosebumps covered his skin.

Just like the Bean Man, he hadn't sensed this person at all.

The man had been that close.

Yet he felt nothing.

If there had been any malicious intent, he would already be dead.

This had never happened to him before.

Not even with Hayato Furinji.

"What kind of technique is this? A Nen ability?"

Satotz raised an eyebrow.

"I see. So you know about Nen. That's right. It's an application of Nen, though just a small trick."

"With your life aura, if you pass the exam, mastering this technique won't be difficult."

"Really?" Sakaki asked. "Then what's the exam?"

"Calm down. There's still time before it begins," Satotz replied with a smile. "Please wait patiently for the other examinees."

Sakaki clicked his tongue and stayed silent.

Emiya created a table and several chairs.

He placed a deck of playing cards on the table.

"There's still some time," he said. "Want to play cards?"

Isshō, a seasoned gambler, immediately walked over.

"Count me in."

Robin sat beside Emiya.

"I don't have anything else to do."

Hayato Furinji, Sakaki, and Shigure Kōsaka also joined them.

The group began to play cards.

Examiner Satotz stood quietly to the side.

Expressionless.

Silently observing everyone present.

In his eyes, every one of them was interesting.
