Chapter 151 — Special Grade and Semi–Special Grade
After choosing her dorm, Zen'in Kaon wandered around the campus alone.
For someone who was stepping into the jujutsu world for the first time, everything felt fresh and exciting.
She wanted to take in as much as possible—this mysterious world she had never been allowed to explore.
---
"Kaon, want to pick up your uniform together?"
Just as she stepped outside, Kaon spotted Okkotsu Kaguya and Gojo Kamui waiting for her at the crossroads.
"Uniforms? We get uniforms too? Sure, let's go!"
Kaon had never attended school before, and the idea of wearing a matching uniform made her unexpectedly curious.
She'd only heard that schools required standardized outfits—never imagined she'd get to experience it herself.
---
"Teacher Itadori said it's your first time learning about the jujutsu world—is that true?"
Kaguya could sense Kaon's strength—far from weak—so he assumed she'd been a sorcerer for a while.
Gojo Kamui, though equally curious, maintained his silent, cool, untouchable persona and didn't ask.
"Yeah. I've been traveling the world with my parents all my life. Never had the chance to learn jujutsu."
Kaon gave a sheepish laugh.
"I see. But Kaon, you're from the Zen'in clan, right? What's your relationship with Fushiguro-sensei?"
"Oh—he's… my cousin, I guess."
After yesterday's crash-course on her own family tree, she finally understood her background.
She really hadn't expected her curse-less dad to be from one of the Three Great Families, nor that her uncle was a Special Grade sorcerer.
No wonder her parents had so much money to travel the world.
Probably Zen'in clan funds…
"Your cousin? Seriously?"
Kaguya blinked, surprised.
"Right—let me introduce you properly," he continued enthusiastically.
"Kamui is from the Gojo family. His father is our current principal—and the one called the strongest sorcerer of the modern era.
Don't let his cold face fool you; he's actually a good guy!"
Kaguya happily poured out all the background lore, having known Kamui since childhood.
(Although this "good relationship" was entirely Kaguya's personal belief.)
"Tch."
Kamui only gave a cold snort.
He hated being defined by his father's reputation—
as if he lived in the man's shadow.
But knowing Kaguya's personality, and that he also came from a Special Grade household, Kamui couldn't be bothered to argue.
---
"The strongest sorcerer?! Your dad is that amazing?"
Kaon's eyes sparkled.
Was this cool white-haired guy's father even stronger than her cousin?
Now she was curious—did his dad look just as cold and handsome?
Kamui cleared his throat, suddenly feeling smug under her admiration.
"Well… kind of. Your cousin is really strong too—he's not much weaker than my dad."
Even though having a famous father gave Kamui massive pressure, he had inherited both Limitless and Six Eyes perfectly.
Unless something unexpected happened, he would become the next strongest.
-
"Right! Yesterday I learned about sorcerer grades from my cousin.
What grades are you two? And… how many Special Grades exist in the jujutsu world?"
Kaon had countless questions.
Beyond curiosity, she genuinely wanted to grow stronger.
Her mom occasionally guided her, but she assumed the academy's teachers would offer far more structured training.
Her cousin said she had potential…
Maybe she really could become Special Grade one day?
Kaguya replied:
"Because of our age, we haven't taken official rank evaluations yet.
We'll get ranked after completing missions later on.
But we've already fought curses, so we have a rough idea of our ability.
If nothing unexpected happens, Kamui probably has Special Grade-level strength already.
I'm a bit below that."
He said it calmly.
Both Kaguya and Kamui had already defeated Special Grade curses before—
so strictly speaking, they could be considered Special Grade sorcerers.
They were just still far from the true monsters that carried that title.
"WHAT—?!
You two already have Special Grade strength?!"
Kaon froze on the spot.
The shock nearly made her drop her bag.
Kaon's eyes widened as she listened—
these two boys, who were entering school the same day as her, already possessed strength at the very top of the jujutsu world?
This… was considered freshman level?
For a moment, she couldn't even find words to describe her feelings.
So she really was the weakest one here.
Before coming, she still had a tiny speck of hope… but now she fully understood why her dad kept warning her.
The jujutsu world truly was overflowing with monsters.
From yesterday until now, she had already met three people with Special Grade strength:
One official Special Grade
Two more who clearly had Special Grade power but hadn't been formally evaluated
This wasn't a school—it was a hazard zone.
---
"It's not that impressive," Okkotsu Kaguya said, scratching his cheek shyly.
He genuinely wasn't bragging—he simply came from a family with talent and resources.
Otherwise, reaching Special Grade at their age would have been impossible.
"But really, we're not as strong as you imagine. Compared to true Special Grade sorcerers, we're still far behind."
He continued:
"Oh right, you asked earlier how many Special Grades exist now, didn't you?
Besides Fushiguro-sensei and Principal Gojo, there are two more—Teacher Itadori and Okkotsu Yuta."
"Teacher Itadori is a Special Grade too?"
Kaon murmured. Suddenly the kind, goofy homeroom teacher seemed a lot more intimidating.
So there actually weren't that many Special Grades.
She'd half expected them to be as common as supermarket cabbage.
Then—her mind snapped to the other name.
"Wait—Okkotsu Yuta… you mean…?"
Kaguya rubbed the back of his neck again, embarrassed.
"Yes… that's my father."
He raised both hands defensively in silent protest:
I swear I'm not showing off! I swear!
Gojo Kamui, standing beside him with his cold expression, narrowed his eyes slightly as if thinking,
Sure you're not.
Kaon exhaled in relief.
"Ohhh—now it all makes sense. No wonder you two are so strong.
Both sons of Special Grades… you practically inherited your rank at birth."
So what if she was the weakest?
Not her fault she didn't come with a Special Grade parent pre-installed.
---
Kaguya continued:
"Ahem. Actually, there are quite a lot of sorcerers with Special Grade–level ability.
But since the jujutsu world's overall strength has increased, the standards for being officially recognized as Special Grade were raised."
"Those who have Special Grade power
but aren't acknowledged as official Special Grades
are usually called Semi–Special Grade."
"That's roughly where Kamui and I stand now."
He shrugged.
Growing up in the jujutsu world, Kaguya knew many who reached that level—
veteran instructors, long-time mission sorcerers, powerful alumni, and so on.
Kaon clenched her fists, sparks of determination lighting her eyes.
"Then I'll just have to work hard!
No way I'm dragging you two down."
She wasn't discouraged at all.
After all—
she had only just stepped into this world.
Her ceiling was still unknown, her potential untouched.
There was so much room to grow.
And one day, maybe she'd shock them all.
