Chapter 22 - Glacial Clip part 2

The group stepped out of the portal and were immediately greeted by a biting chill that cut through the air like shards of glass. Their breath came out in pale wisps as the temperature dropped sharply.

They stood on the snow-capped summit of Mount Fuji.

Nate blinked. "…of course. Of course, it's Fuji. Why wouldn't the Frost Realm be under Japan's most famous mountain?"

Serafall twirled once, letting the icy wind whip through her hair. "Oooh, it's so sparkly here~! I could totally film a Magical Girl transformation sequence right now!"

She struck a pose, her wand materializing in her hand as snowflakes shimmered around her.

Kuroka wrapped her tail around herself. "Nyh~ it's freezing! I'm a cat, not a snow leopard!"

Kunou giggled and offered her a fox-fire orb for warmth. "Here, Nee-san. Try this before you start demanding Nate-kun be your personal heater again."

Hailey pulled out her phone, trying to take a photo—only for it to immediately freeze over. "…yeah, okay. Nature said no selfies here."

Frostina, meanwhile, looked absolutely at home. The faint glow of her aura caused the snow beneath her feet to crystallize into perfect hexagonal ice patterns. "Welcome to my domain," she said proudly. "We're standing on the gateway between the human world and the Frost Realm proper. The deeper we go, the stronger the Ice Spirits become."

Nate exhaled, his breath visible in the freezing air. "So… five more pieces of the Glacial Clip, right? Meaning five Ice Spirits."

Whisper nodded as he scrolled through his floating tablet. "Indeed! Based on my research, they're all elemental manifestations of frost. In other words—"

"—Yo-kai that drop loot when we punch them," Nate finished flatly.

Whisper hesitated, then nodded. "…Yes, that would be the… simplified version."

Frostina sighed softly. "The first one isn't far from here. It guards the Frozen Shrine near the edge of the realm."

Nate cracked his knuckles, small embers of Sun Energy flickering faintly around his hands. "Alright then. Let's go punch some snow ghosts."

Serafall giggled. "That's my line, Nate-kun! Ice boss, here we come~!"

They began their trek down the crystalline path that stretched along the mountain's peak. The Frost Realm was breathtaking—icy waterfalls that defied gravity, frozen trees that glowed faintly with inner light, and snowflakes that floated sideways as if gravity here had rules of its own.

Jibanyan was shivering, hopping from foot to foot. "Nya! My beans are freezing! Why did I agree to this again?"

"Because you wanted to impress Frostina," Foiletta teased, holding her spellbook against her chest.

"LIES!" Jibanyan squeaked—then sneezed, covering himself in snow. Whisper quickly brushed him off with a towel.

As they neared the Frozen Shrine, the air grew heavier. The mist shimmered—and from it stepped the first Ice Spirit. Its form was vaguely humanoid but jagged, with shards of ice for armor and hollow, glowing eyes.

"Spirit of Frigid Gale," Frostina murmured. "The first guardian."

The spirit raised its icy spear, frost crackling in the air.

Nate rolled his shoulders, his Yo-kai Watch glowing faintly with Sun energy as he smirked. "Alright, Frostina. You take point. Let's finish this clip."

Frostina's eyes gleamed as she summoned her frost magic, snow swirling around her like a blizzard halo. "Gladly. Let's show them how it's done, Master."

As the battle erupted—Serafall spinning in midair firing pink frost hearts, Kuroka flinging shadow ice, Foiletta chanting freezing hexes—

Nate couldn't help thinking to himself:

'Yeah… this world really is Yo-kai Watch logic mixed with DxD chaos.'

Fumika looked at Nate as she spoke. "Do we fight?"

Nate pointed at he fight as he spoke. "That's an B Class Yokai figthing someone who is UZ Class aka, Middle Class Yokai vs a Satan Class Devil, in Devil tearms, the fight is already enough unfair".

Meanwhile the they just saw Serafall being overtop in the fight and just toying with the Yokai.

She made a water heart which was clearly for nate, as she sought Magical girl attack as she faught.

Nate just said in his head. 'Adorable'.

Serafall spun midair, her wand shimmering with aqua and pink energy as she giggled. "Magical Levi Heart Splash Beam!"

The blast of heart-shaped water orbs hit the Ice Spirit straight in the chest, sending it skidding backward through the snow before it exploded into glittering frost particles. The remaining shards of Yokai energy floated into the air and condensed into a glowing blue gem — the next piece of the Glacial Clip.

Hailey blinked as she whispered, "Did she just... Sailor Moon the hell out of that thing?"

Kuroka chuckled, tail swaying. "Nyahaha~ Our Levi-tan is a total magical idol now~"

Serafall landed gracefully, posing dramatically with her wand. "Evil vanquished, love and justice prevail!" she declared proudly. Then she turned toward Nate, winked, and added in a playful tone, "And this victory is dedicated to my darling Nate-kun~!"

Nate's face went red instantly. "You didn't have to say that part out loud!"

Fumika covered her mouth, laughing softly. "Oh, she definitely did."

Frostina stepped forward, picking up the glowing gem, feeling the chill of the Frost Spirit's essence merge with her own. "That's the third piece. Two more and the Glacial Clip will be complete…"

Whisper floated closer, scribbling notes on his spectral tablet. "Ah yes! At this rate, Master Nate, we'll finish before lunch! Assuming we don't run into any ultra rare Ice Yokai that want to make your life miserable!"

Jibanyan crossed his arms. "You just had to say that, didn't you?"

The ground rumbled. Cracks split the icy terrain as frost-blue energy erupted from beneath them. A towering Yokai emerged — a massive, armored Frost Titan, eyes burning like cold fire.

Serafall blinked. "Oh… I think we found your ultra rare."

Nate sighed, activating his Yo-Kai Watch and his aura flaring golden. "Of course we did…"

He looked back at his group, smirking slightly. "Alright team, let's see if this Frost Titan drops more than just loot."

Serafall looked at Nate as she spoke. "So, Nate Kun, do we do that together?".

Nate sighed as he put Blazion Yo-kai Medal in his Yo-kai watch, and he pulled

out his sword as which got covered in frost and fire. "Sure, I am S rank".

Serafall looked at him as she spoke. "Oh, that's making in High-class in Devil logic".

Nate then spoke in his mind. 'Ok, time to improve, sword art and my Flowing Spirit Rock-Breaking Fist (Ryūkon Kōseiken)'.

Serafall giggled, twirling her wand as snowflakes danced around her. "Then let's make this a magical collaboration, Nate-kun~!"

Nate didn't bother replying — his eyes sharpened, aura flaring gold and red with streaks of frost-blue dancing across it. The Yo-kai Medal's fusion pulsed through his body as fire and ice intertwined, spiraling up his arm and coating his sword in a storm of opposites.

The Frost Titan let out a guttural roar, its icy breath freezing the air into crystals. Serafall raised her hand, summoning a dome of shimmering water magic to block the blast — it froze instantly, but before the shards could shatter, Nate had already moved.

He vanished from sight.

A shockwave split the snowfield as Nate reappeared midair, twisting into a downward slash that cleaved through the Titan's icy armor. The creature stumbled back, and Nate landed beside Serafall without a word.

She blinked, her smile widening. "You really don't call your attacks, huh?"

"Wastes time," Nate said flatly, flicking the ice off his blade.

Serafall burst out laughing. "That's so unfair! At least shout something dramatic! You'll ruin the anime aesthetic!"

The Titan reared up again, summoning spears of ice from the ground. Nate sidestepped one, punched another apart with Ryūkon Kōseiken, and let the spiritual energy explode outward — the shockwave melted the nearest spikes instantly.

Serafall floated beside him, eyes gleaming. "Okay, okay, my turn! Magical Levi Aqua Burst!"

A spiral of compressed water magic struck the Titan's face, freezing it solid for a brief moment — just long enough for Nate to blur forward, sword igniting once more with fire and frost.

He didn't shout, didn't name the move. He just moved — and a split-second later, the Titan's entire right arm shattered into a thousand frozen shards.

Serafall blinked, awe mixing with her usual teasing grin. "You know, if you keep doing cool stuff like that, Nate-kun, I might fall even harder~"

Nate sighed, wiping his blade. "Focus, Serafall."

"Focusing on you is easy," she hummed.

Frostina watched quietly from behind, feeling a strange warmth in the freezing air. The synergy between fire, frost, and magic — it was beautiful, chaotic, and oddly natural.

Whisper scribbled furiously on his floating tablet. "Note to self: never annoy Nate during combat. He skips the dialogue and goes straight for the boss kill!"

The Titan roared, its remaining arm swelling with jagged ice as it swung down with enough force to crush a house. Serafall raised another shield, but the impact shattered it instantly — the shockwave hurled snow in every direction.

Before it could follow up, Nate was already there, one hand pressed to the Titan's chest. His aura flared brighter than before — flames and frost spiraling together into a miniature storm.

Serafall blinked as her heart skipped a beat. "Nate-kun…?"

For once, Nate smirked. "You wanted an attack name, right?"

She gasped — he never did that.

He clenched his fist, spiritual energy flooding through his body. "Then just this once…"

He drew his arm back, the ground beneath his feet cracking from the pressure, his voice steady and calm.

"Flowing Spirit Rock-Breaking Fist: Frostfire Collapse."

His punch connected.

A thunderous explosion of red and blue energy erupted, freezing and burning everything in a ten-meter radius. The Titan's core shattered, its body dissolving into glittering shards of frost that rained down like snow.

For a long moment, there was only silence — then Serafall squealed, literally jumping onto him. "He said an attack name! He actually said one!"

Nate stumbled back, caught between embarrassment and a rare chuckle. "You happy now?"

Serafall hugged him tighter. "More than you know~"

Whisper wiped an invisible tear. "My boy finally said a move name… I'm so proud!"

Jibanyan folded his paws, smirking. "He's gone full shonen protagonist, nyan."

Nate just sighed, sheathing his sword as the last fragments of ice faded away. "Never again."

Serafall pouted, still clinging to his arm. "Aww, at least name one when we do couple attacks!"

Fumika facepalmed quietly. "They're flirting again."

Frostina smiled softly as the final crystal dropped from the sky. The Glacial Clip's next fragment shimmered into view, floating toward her hand.

The group kept walking as it was odly quite, and comforting, they kept waking as they looked around.

Hailey was the first to speak. "Does Hell actually have Succubi and Incubi"

Nate chocked on Reality when she said that.

Nate nearly tripped when Hailey asked that, coughing hard as he turned to look at her. "Hailey—what kind of question is that?!"

Hailey blinked innocently. "What? I'm just curious! You talk about devils, angels, and dragons like they're normal, so I was wondering if those are real too."

Before Nate could even recover, Serafall, with her usual cheerful tone, chimed in while skipping a bit ahead of them. "Ye~! Of course they do! Succubi and Incubi are totally real! They're part of the lower devil races, you know? Super cute, super flirty, kinda pushy—"

"—and I'm gonna stop you right there," Nate interrupted quickly, waving both hands. "No, no, no, we are not having the sex demon talk while we're hiking through an ice realm!"

Kuroka chuckled from behind, tail flicking amusedly. "Nyaa~ what's wrong, Nate~? Scared you'll find out too much?"

Fumika sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Can we not turn a mythology question into something out of a midnight radio show?"

Whisper floated along, pretending to be philosophical. "Well, to be fair, Hailey's question is valid from a cultural study standpoint—"

"Whisper, stop talking," Nate said flatly.

Hailey giggled. "So they're real. Got it~."

Serafall leaned over with a teasing grin. "You know, Nate-kun, you're technically part of that world now~ Maybe a few might try to flirt with you!"

"Over my dead body," Nate muttered, tightening his scarf as if the cold could hide his flustered face.

Jibanyan snickered. "Nyan, someone's embarrassed."

Frostina, walking ahead quietly, couldn't help but smile at the chaotic exchange. "You all make the Frost Realm feel a lot warmer."

Aaron chuckled softly behind them. "Yeah, this group could turn a snowstorm into a comedy show."

As they continued through the crystalline tunnels, the gentle hum of the wind mixed with the sound of laughter — light, familiar, and oddly comforting, even in a world of ice.

Nate looked back at Aaron as he spoke. "Anyway, I wanted to ask, Why did you come with us dad, you don't have power's".

Aaron laughed a bit, as he spoke. "Will, I am kinda home alone if you all came here, plus not everyone gets to see something like this".

Kunou blinked as she spoke. "Aunty Lily never showed a place like this".

Nate just looked at his Finacé with a deadpan face. "Kunou, Yokai still eat Human, Mon is a searer, she can summon Yokai to fight with her Yokai watch like me, dad is normal".

Aaron gave a normal chuckled, as he scratched the back of his head. "Well yeah, I am nothing like my wife, so she never brought me to this type place for My safety".

Serafall giggled softly at that, twirling a bit of frost on her fingertip. "Aww~ that's actually really sweet though! She's just being protective of her husband~!"

Aaron smiled sheepishly. "Yeah, though it's a little funny. I married a woman who can casually call a legendary yokai, and my biggest accomplishment is making sure the coffee machine doesn't explode in the morning."

Hailey snorted. "That's a life skill, honestly."

Nate rolled his eyes. "Dad, you say that like you didn't almost burn the house down once because of instant noodles."

Aaron pointed at him defensively. "Hey, that was one time! And in my defense, I was distracted by the cat video you sent me!"

Kuroka smirked. "Nya~ sounds like he fits right in with this family's brand of chaos."

Whisper puffed out his ghostly chest. "Indeed! Every great hero's party needs a normal human! It's a classic storytelling archetype!"

Nate gave him a side-eye. "Whisper, stop trying to make Dad sound like a trope."

Whisper crossed his arms dramatically. "I refuse! He's the heart of the team—the grounding presence in a group full of absurdly powerful beings!"

Aaron laughed again. "Well, I'll take that, I guess. Beats being the guy who gets left home alone while everyone's saving the world."

Serafall leaned on Nate's shoulder with a playful grin. "Besides, it's kinda nice, you know? A family outing in the Frost Realm~"

Fumika smiled softly. "When you put it like that… it really is."

Even Frostina, usually reserved, nodded. "It's rare to see humans and yokai walk here together without fear."

Nate looked around at the glittering ice walls, the faint glow reflecting off everyone's faces. "Yeah… it's weirdly peaceful. Guess we can take a bit to enjoy it before the next fight starts."

Aaron grinned. "Spoken like someone who's finally learning to relax."

Nate smirked. "Don't get used to it, Dad. I know this world—something always happens after someone says that."

And almost on cue, the ground beneath them gave a soft rumble. The ice cracked faintly, sending echoes through the frozen cavern.

Serafall blinked. "...You had to say it, didn't you?"

Nate sighed, sword already forming in his hand. "I jinxed it. Of course I did."

The group eventually arrived at a massive frozen courtyard deep within the mountain. Glittering ice pillars rose around them like a crystal cathedral, and in the center stood a towering Yokai—its body carved from blue-white ice, a regal crest of frost crystals upon its head.

The Frost Guardian.

It held a halberd made of pure permafrost, its voice booming through the cavern. "Who dares approach the resting place of the Glacial Clip's shard?"

Before Nate could even open his mouth to explain, Serafall cracked her knuckles, Kuroka's tail flicked, and Fumika summoned a blade of pure snowlight.

Aaron blinked. "Uh, guys, maybe we should—"

Nate sighed, already seeing where this was going. "...Never mind."

Hailey pointed at the guardian. "That's the thing we need, right?"

Frostina nodded solemnly. "Yes. It guards the next fragment."

Serafall grinned and twirled her wand. "Perfect! Magical Girl Levi-chan approves of this plan—get it!"

Before the Frost Guardian could even finish its battle declaration, the entire group (except Aaron) charged in unison.

The ice spirit managed to get out half a word—"Prepa—"

BAM!

Blazion's flames ignited as Nate dashed in, sword swinging with his frost-fire fusion strike. Kunou and Kuroka combined foxfire and shadow magic, while Serafall's heart-shaped ice spells rained down like meteor showers.

Whisper tried to sound official as chaos erupted. "This is a highly coordinated tactical assault! Definitely not a gang-up—!"

BOOM!

A shockwave of light and cold sent snow flying everywhere. When it cleared, the Frost Guardian was frozen mid-stagger, chunks of ice crumbling off its armor, a dazed look in its glowing eyes.

Aaron stood off to the side, sipping tea from a thermos. "...You all just mugged a mythical spirit."

Nate lowered his sword and shrugged. "In our defense, it's faster than negotiating."

Jibanyan crossed his arms smugly. "Nyah! And it dropped loot!"

True enough, a shining shard of crystalline ice floated down, pulsing with magic—the next piece of the Glacial Clip.

Serafall clapped her hands happily. "Yay! Mission complete! And nobody exploded this time~"

Hailey brushed snow off her shoulders. "We're really just grinding boss fights at this point, huh?"

Nate picked up the shard, tucking it into his bag. 'Pretty much. Yokai Watch logic: punch first, friendship later.'

Aaron chuckled, shaking his head. "Remind me never to annoy any of you."

Frostina smiled faintly. "That would be wise."

The group began walking deeper into the icy realm, Nate's breath misting in the air as he muttered. "One more shard down… three to go."

And somewhere behind them, the Frost Guardian groaned from the snow, weakly raising a hand.

"...You could've… at least… asked."

Nate looked back once, guilt flickering for a second before shrugging. "Sorry, man. Efficiency."
