chapter 41 Kaizer pov

Kaizer POV

In the Morning: Kaizer's Room

Kaizer woke up early in the morning. Back when he lived in the slum, waking up early was a necessity; it was the only way he could squeeze in some study time before heading out to do his grueling daily work.

The UCA had offered him a massive sum of money when they took his sister away. Living in the mud of the slum, he hadn't dared to accept a direct payout. Instead, the transaction was masked as a scholarship to a prestigious academy. At the time, he genuinely believed it would be his golden ticket to enter upper society.

At first, he refused to touch a single cent. It felt like selling his own flesh and blood. But his younger sister had grabbed his hand and begged him to take the scholarship. She told him it was inevitable—the UCA and the elite Blood families would never leave a girl with her traits alone. She had to go, one way or another. But she told him that if he took the scholarship, climbed through that prestigious school, and somehow forced his way into the UCA from the outside, they could be together again. Otherwise, they would remain separated forever.

The suffocating helplessness he felt that day was something he could never explain to another living soul. Over time, he grew to understand the depth of his sister's worry, especially after he set foot inside that prestigious academy. But understanding it didn't stop the ache. What is painful is really very painful.

Even with the tuition covered by the scholarship, he still had to work exhausting hours just to afford basic food. The academy was a playground for the wealthy; it was filled with arrogant children from prestigious, rich backgrounds, and even the high-and-mighty descendants of the Blood families.

And every single one of those students despised him. They loathed someone like Kaizer—a slum rat who had absolutely nothing to his name.

He was constantly bullied, looked down upon, and pushed to the absolute brink. Yet, right when he was standing at the very edge of dark despair, a single spark of hope found him: his Book, [Ascended Gold Emperor].

It gave him the power and the purpose he desperately needed—a hope to find his missing sister and finally reunite their broken family.

And it gave him a quiet, simpler hope: that everything would change for him. After all, he didn't want to be a lonely man forever. He wanted companions. He wanted real friends.

Kaizer: "Well, things really have changed. I have a room this massive, and after graduation, a high-paying job is already secure for me according to Miss Veera."

And on top of that, Kaizer actually had a friend now. Granted, his new friend was incredibly weird and eccentric, but you have to be happy with what you get.

When they were assigned adjacent rooms, he had felt a surge of genuine relief. But when a full day passed with nothing but silence from the other side of the wall, an intense anxiety took over. Fighter didn't look like a strong guy; in fact, he was the exact opposite. The guy looked like a hollowed-out corpse. Then again, everyone surviving in the slums looked like a corpse. Kaizer used to see the exact same reflection in the mirror before he awakened his Book.

By the second day of silence, a panicked Kaizer went straight to Miss Veera. Her answer had only made his stomach drop—she told him that a Script could easily go out of control, either killing the host outright or leaving them severely mutilated.

Since then, he had tried calling and messaging his new friend over and over again, staring at his screen with absolutely no results.
