"Brother Dugu, after troubling you for so many days, I think it's time my wife and I took our leave." Walking along the academy's path, Ming Hongchen turned and spoke. "Besides visiting you, one of our purposes this time was to travel the continent. I wanted to see if it's still like when I visited years ago, and to let Ya'er relax a bit."
The agreed time was almost up. Otherwise, he truly would have liked to stay longer and continue their discussions on toxicology.
"So soon?"
Dugu Bo feigned surprise, then replied with a smile. "You're not even going to wait for Xiao Hai to finish presenting his theories?"
"My intention is to witness that before we leave," Ming Hongchen explained.
"Alright." Dugu Bo nodded, regret showing on his face. "If you have the leisure in the future, you and your wife must come visit the academy again."
"Of course." Ming Hongchen smiled, Xu Fengya nodding as well. "Definitely."
That same afternoon, invitations were delivered by academy instructors to the various powers, announcing that in three days Yang Yunhai would present new theories.
Three days later, the square of Yunhai Academy was crowded. Under the guidance of instructors, the students carried stools and sat in neat rows. At the very front sat Ning Fengzhi, Ning Rongrong, Sword Douluo, Xue Ye, Xue Qinghe, Salas, and other distinguished guests.
The Ming couple preferred not to draw attention, choosing instead to sit among the students.
Yang Yunhai stood at the center of the platform and began explaining martial soul classifications.
"This way of classifying is much clearer," Ning Rongrong said seriously, her eyes bright.
"Another textbook to memorize," the students thought to themselves.
Compared to Yu Xiaogang's so-called theories in the past, this was something entirely different. As members of the academy, they couldn't help but feel a surge of pride.
Half an hour later, Yang Yunhai moved on to explain martial soul applications in daily life.
"It can be used like that?" The students' worldviews were overturned, eyes full of amazement.
"Once I'm back, I need to test my martial soul." They were especially touched by Yang Yunhai's words about drawing inspiration from nature.
Even Xue Ye was surprised, secretly thinking that this should be widely promoted—another way to boost the prestige of the royal family.
After finishing his second theory, Yang Yunhai pulled out a wooden board from his soul tool, propping it up beside him.
Everyone turned their attention—it was a diagram of the human meridians.
"Next, I will present a cultivation method that my grandfather and I developed together," Yang Yunhai announced.
A loud murmur swept the audience when he revealed its effects.
Everyone was visibly shocked, even Ning Fengzhi, Xue Ye, and Sword Douluo.
A cultivation method that accelerated cultivation and opened the meridians—shared publicly for free?
On the side, Ning Rongrong's beautiful eyes widened, her lips parted slightly as she gazed at Yang Yunhai, her heart beating a little faster.
Ever since her father mentioned wanting her to marry Yang Yunhai, she had kept it in mind. She had even tried to convince herself that she should like him.
After much thought, she had concluded that marrying him would indeed benefit the sect immensely.
And she had to admit, Yang Yunhai was outstanding, strong, and handsome.
She already had some feelings of admiration for him.
Now, those feelings grew just a little more.
Not far away, Ye Lingling sat quietly, her gaze calm like a lotus beyond the mortal world—so different from the blushing, love-struck female students all around.
'Why would Dugu Bo and Yang Yunhai choose to reveal such a cultivation method? What's their true purpose?' Ning Fengzhi thought, eyes flickering.
Knowing them, he was sure this wasn't so simple.
But one thing was certain: from this day forward, anyone who dared slander Yang Yunhai would be condemned across the continent. Yu Xiaogang, Tang Hao, and the Clear Sky Sect would soon face the wrath of the people.
Yang Yunhai's actions had made him a Saint Teacher of the continent. His kindness would be remembered by all.
When Yang Yunhai finished his explanations, he said, "The theories presented today will be posted later on the academy's public board. Anyone interested may review them in detail."
"It's already noon. Next, please follow the instructors to the dining hall for a meal."
The square erupted in noise as footsteps shuffled. Students were led out in orderly fashion.
The guests at the front, guided by a female instructor, were taken to a banquet prepared for them. Yang Yunhai, Dugu Bo, and the others also made their way there.
The Ming couple chose to eat in the student dining hall, not wishing to join the nobles.
"Captain, from today, you're my idol!" At the banquet, Yu Feng sat with Yang Yunhai and the old teammates. He hadn't changed—before even sitting down, he was already flattering loudly.
"Come, let me toast you." He lifted a glass of juice as if it were wine.
Yang Yunhai smiled, raising his own juice, clinking cups with his teammates.
Soon, everyone was gathered. Xue Ye gave a heartfelt speech, thanking Dugu Bo and Yang Yunhai for their contributions to the empire.
Ning Fengzhi followed with more praise.
Yang Yunhai responded with smiles and courtesy, until Dugu Bo cut in, urging everyone to start eating. Finally, Yang Yunhai could turn back to his friends, chatting and catching up.
Meanwhile, Dugu Yan leaned close to Ye Lingling's ear and whispered, "Lingling, after the banquet stay behind. Xiao Hai has something to discuss with you. And the two of us sisters should also catch up. Tonight, you'll stay with me."
Ye Lingling's small fist tightened under the table. She nodded slightly, keeping calm.
About forty-five minutes later, everyone had eaten their fill. Emperor Xue Ye was the first to leave. Ning Fengzhi, however, remained behind with Sword Douluo and Ning Rongrong.
"Brother Yunhai," Ning Rongrong greeted softly, her cheeks pink, her gaze avoiding his.
Yang Yunhai blinked, then smiled. "Hello, Rongrong."
Both Dugu Yan and Zhu Zhuqing glanced warily at Dugu Bo.
'Why are you looking at me? I didn't do anything!' Dugu Bo thought bitterly, feeling wronged.
Ning Fengzhi smiled warmly. "Nephew Yang, congratulations. In just a few months, you've developed such groundbreaking theories. You've truly humbled me."
"Patriarch Ning flatters me. I was just lucky," Yang Yunhai replied modestly.
"You're far too humble. These things can't be understood by luck." Ning Fengzhi shook his head. "In any case, I must thank you and Brother Dugu on behalf of the sect. Your theories will benefit the continent, and greatly strengthen my sect as well."
"If you ever need anything, you can always come to me. If it's within my ability, I will never refuse."
'Getting anxious already?' Dugu Bo shot Ning Fengzhi a sidelong glance.
Yang Yunhai smiled faintly. "In fact, in the near future, I will have something that requires your help. When the time comes, I'll send word."
"Then I'll be waiting," Ning Fengzhi said with a smile.
With that, he bowed slightly to Dugu Bo. "I won't disturb you further."
"Take care," Dugu Bo replied.
The three of them left.
"Let's go," Yang Yunhai said, leading his companions back to their residence.
Once inside, he turned to Ye Lingling. "Lingling, the reason I asked you to stay is because I need your help. Soon, I'll be sending Yan Zi and Zhuqing to a place called Sea God Island."
"It's the inheritance ground of the Sea God. By completing the god trials, one may become a true deity. I believe this godhood fits Yan Zi's martial soul, so I want her to try. Even if she doesn't inherit it, it will still be a valuable training experience. With your healing ability, I want you to go as well—not only to train, but to support them."
"I'll go," Ye Lingling said firmly, without hesitation.
Yang Yunhai smiled. "Good. Lingling, this is also a chance for you. At the inheritance ground, if you perform well, other gods might even choose you. With your talent, I think that's possible."
He drew out the Eight Petal Immortal Orchid. "This immortal herb won't fix your martial soul's flaw, but it can raise your soul power safely and purify your body. It should support you until rank 70."
Zhu Zhuqing and Dugu Yan smiled at her encouragingly.
Taking the herb gracefully, Ye Lingling sat aside and began to absorb its essence.
"Zhuqing, Yan Zi, you stay here and watch over her. Grandfather and I will step out for a while."
The two nodded.
Later that day, after a long talk, Ming Hongchen and Xu Fengya finally left the academy. Before parting, Ming Hongchen handed Yang Yunhai a small booklet.
"This was copied from a ruin in my youth," he explained. "It contains designs for soul tools. I've been too absorbed in poisons to study it, but perhaps it will help you and your students."
Dugu Bo laughed. "Old Ming, you really do have treasures hidden away."
Yang Yunhai accepted the booklet with gratitude. "Thank you, Senior Ming."
The couple departed, leaving the academy behind.
Back inside, Yang Yunhai flipped through the booklet. "Bicycles, baby rockers… really?"
He couldn't help but chuckle. "Did Old Ming know my child's almost here?"
Still, though mostly civilian, the designs had potential. He thought privately, 'As an electrician in my past life, this will come in handy. When I have time as a god, maybe I'll even make a generator to light this world.'
For now, though, cultivation was the priority.
