Chloe sat down on the sofa thinking back to what the mysterious woman had told her the other day, she had even forgotten to get her name. While thinking about the woman, her mind went back to Rose and wondered where Rose slept the last night. She picked her phone and dialed Max's number.
In a well three storey building, Max and Rose are seen on the first floor of the building in the living room. His phone buzzed and saw it was Chloe calling. He glanced at Rose before picking up the call.
"Hey Chloe, I hope you had a fantastic night" Max asked with a hint of excitement in his voice. "Hey there, I'm good, I can see you're in a good mood today, right?" Chloe replied Max. "Oh yes!, you're absolutely correct, well, won't you ask for the reason of my excitement" Max said. "What is the reason?" Chloe asked feeling scared.
"No worries, your friend came here and made an offer to me" Max replied. Chloe felt insecurity around her and asked Max, "oh, what did she say?". "She is willing to hand over more of your secrets and investigation including you yourself if I make her mine" Max said glancing over at Rose to see her reaction." So, what did you say, did you agree" Chloe asked. "It depends on you, I haven't given my answer yet" Max replied. Chloe's mind went back to what the mysterious woman said the other day, "I don't care Max, sice you found out I lied and deceived you, I believe there's no need in keeping me and make sure you tell that snake that calls herself Rose, never to come near my property."
"I knew it, I knew you were not that foolish to have believe my whole acting show the other day, seems like you were also planning something and so, let's see who the real boss here is and before I forget, let me tell you that I'm ready to avenge my father's death and the downfall of our company but the good news is that, Eclytal is still well and alive, and functioning perfectly." Max said to Chloe."do whatever you want, I don't care" Chloe said with confidence.
"Poor Chloe, you're trying to console yourself but don't worry, I have a lot of powerful people behind me and I will achieve all my goals with the help of your..... "do whatever you want, bye!"Chloe said cutting off max.
The phone was on speaker and Rose heard their conversation, "I knew you would trust me" Rose said linking her hands with Max's own. "I suggest you remove your hands or...." Max said frowning at her action." Chill Max, don't forget I'm your new partner and you have to protect me" Rose said feeling proud. " It's better if you mind your actions and don't do too much, be warned. The elite's world is different from yours, we don't play by the rules, we make the rules." Max said, his voice full of seriousness.
"Is there anything I can do for you"Rose asked trying to sound useful. "Well, there is something. You stay with me at all times, arrange meetings, keep track of my meetings, just like my personal assistant.
"Okay sir, P.A Rose at your service" Rose said bursting out of laughter. "It's not funny"Max said, clearly annoyed.
Chloe stared at the paper in front of her, containing the mysterious woman contact number. She picked up her phone and dialed the number. There was no response, she felt she had lost hope and felt a sense of disappointment within her.
"Maybe she's busy" Chloe concluded and decided to dial her number again after some hours.
One hour passed, Chloe picked up her phone to dial the woman's number, she tried several times and received no response. She decided to try one last time and at last, her phone ranged and she picked up. "Hello" the woman spoke up.
"I'm ready" Chloe answered.
