The flames roared on moving across the shattered rafters of the casino as smoke pressed against the ceiling. Mercenaries staggered through the firelight, coughing and spitting blood, their weapons clutched in trembling hands. Tsunade stood among the carnage, gore dripping down her arms, her chest rising with steady, measured breaths. She turned her head toward Raven, her amber eyes narrowing with suspicion. "You're practicing the Yin Seal, aren't you?"
Raven wiped a smear of blood from her cheek with the back of her hand. The faint outline of a diamond shimmered on her forehead, glowing in the flicker of the flames. "Yep. I'm still too young to hold massive chakra reserves naturally, so I've been stockpiling chakra here instead. Thanks to the scrolls I looted from your compound, I've made good progress."
Tsunade barked a short laugh, though it carried no humor. "Only you would know where that vault was hidden. Tell me—did you grab the notebook about my grandfather's body? The research on his cells?"
Raven parried a lunging kunai with a sharp twist of her wrist, the blade clattering to the floor before she snapped the attacker's neck with a single strike. She turned back toward Tsunade as though nothing had happened. "Of course. Don't worry—Danzō and Orochimaru will never get their hands on it."
Tsunade let out a tense sigh, her lips curling in disgust as she watched the corpse slump into the spreading fire. "At least that's one victory."
"A big one," Raven said evenly, her voice cutting through the crackle of burning wood. "I've already made shocking progress."
Tsunade's eyes narrowed. "You're not using Hashirama's cells to force Wood Release, are you?"
Raven shook her head, stepping aside as two more mercenaries tried to flank her. "No, Tsunade. I don't need his cells. I have other abilities that will let me access Wood Release naturally… I just haven't reached that stage yet." Her tone sharpened, carrying weight like steel. "We'll talk more later. In fact, I could probably help you tap into it too."
Tsunade gave a bitter scoff. "If you could really do that, I'd owe you a debt I could never repay."
Raven smirked faintly, her rinnegan glowing violet. "More than you already do."
Tsunade growled under her breath. "Shut it. You've got me drenched in blood. My hair's ruined—" she looked down, her expression twisting. "And there are guts on my shoe." She kicked hard, flinging a clump of tissue into the fire. "So nasty."
The floor shook as two more chūnin burst through the smoke. Raven flicked her wrist, sending a kunai flashing through the haze. It buried itself into one mercenary's arm—its explosive tag ignited. BOOM. The left half of his body was blown apart, scattering flesh across the smoldering tables.
The second chūnin dodged, his eyes bloodshot with rage. He charged straight for Raven, bellowing, "You crazy bitch! Do you realize what you've done? Gatō has jōnin in his service!"
Raven's voice was ice. "That's the point. I want him to send them."
The man spat, his face contorted in hate. "You're insane!"
Tsunade tilted her head back and let out a dark laugh, her lip curling as blood trickled down from the corner of her mouth. "She actually is pretty crazy."
The chūnin's kunai slashed toward Raven's chest. She surged forward, drawing chakra into her forehead. The diamond of the Yin Seal pulsed, releasing a surge of energy into her limbs. Her fist met the blade with raw power—the steel shattered in an instant.
Before the man could blink, Raven's fist slammed into his face. His skull burst backward, blood spraying in an arc across the wall. The body collapsed limply, twitching once before going still.
Tsunade stared for a moment, recognition flashing in her eyes. "You're practicing my Strength of a Hundred technique too…"
Raven straightened slowly, her breathing even, crimson running down her arm. "Of course. I only learn from the best."
Tsunade rolled her eyes and muttered, "Flattery won't save you when this place collapses."
Another crash echoed through the inferno. Two more chūnin vaulted over the wreckage, kunai gleaming, their faces lit by the glow of fire.
Tsunade cracked her knuckles, blood dripping from the tips of her blonde hair. The sound echoed like stone grinding on stone. She stepped forward, her shoulders squaring. "My turn."
