An hour later, Amanda left with a box containing Luke's one hundred dollar investment, or more accurately, a head: the head of Hector Hammond.
A war was about to erupt between the White House high-ups and Amanda.
He believed she would do many "meaningful" things with this well-preserved head.
Luke was incredibly eager and wanted to see how the war would end. Based on strength alone, Amanda was at a complete disadvantage, but political maneuvering couldn't be solved by force alone.
With "absolute evidence" in hand, she was a venomous snake, while the powerful Dick Cheney and the military brass were formidable tigers.
The fight between the tiger and the venomous snake was sure to be spectacular.
As an investor, Luke naturally wanted his invested company to win, but he also had the identity of a gang boss, and what gang boss didn't like the government to be in chaos?
After dealing with Amanda, Luke went to Base 2 alone to test his superpowers.
According to the video recorded by the Ghost Armor, the yellow halo was corroded by green flames, turning into a light orb that merged into his body. This meant that Luke likely possessed the power of the Parallax.
Generating fear, manipulating fear, devouring fear.
If he could wield these powers...
Soon, four bound scumbags were brought to the underground base by Adam.
Four people, three drug dealers, one butcher—all beings who wouldn't make it to heaven.
Luke put down his wine glass and walked up to the butcher. A faint green light emanated from his eyes, and the butcher's pupils contracted to pinpricks, as if he had encountered something incredibly terrifying, and he cried out in muffled shouts.
The green light grew stronger and stronger, transforming into a phosphorescent green pillar of light that enveloped his body.
The butcher stopped struggling, his eyeballs rolled back, revealing white pupils, and he knelt on the ground motionless. His skin began to shrink and shrivel, and large patches of yellow particles appeared on his body, just like what Hector had done.
"It really works!"
Luke's heart stirred. He opened his mouth, trying to swallow the yellow particles, but after more than a dozen attempts, there was no reaction.
The yellow particles simply wouldn't obey his command; they just floated in mid-air, emitting a faint halo.
Luke reached out to grab them, but his hand passed through without any resistance.
"That doesn't make sense!"
Luke, not believing it, brought over the three drug dealers and tried them one by one. The result remained unchanged; the yellow particles could not be absorbed and belonged to another form of energy.
For the next hour, he tried every method he could think of, and without exception, none of them worked.
"Three abilities, inheriting two, missing the most important link."
"What a pity."
Luke shook his head helplessly, opened the secret door, and went to the third basement level of Base 2.
This was his private storage room, filled with many good things.
Prometheus metal, Amazonian metal, the Ghost Armor prototype, the Golden Key from the Kryptonian space station, Hal Jordan's Green Lantern ring, and so on—all incredibly rare items.
Among all the treasures, the Green Lantern ring was Luke's favorite.
The Green Lantern's abilities were truly too convenient.
It was simply an essential choice for travel, home life, and even murder and robbery.
"What a pity."
Luke reluctantly glanced at the Lantern Ring, then picked up the Prometheus metal and Amazonian metal and left the underground warehouse.
These two metals were essential for building Ghost 3. Besides them, Luke planned to add another super metal, one that was in Gotham.
From today onwards, half of his energy would be dedicated to the construction of Ghost 3, ideally to be completed within six months...
Earth is a very beautiful planet, with blue oceans surrounding brown land, complemented by mountains, rivers, forests, and seas of clouds. Various colors are interwoven and adorned, forming an exceptionally beautiful picture.
The Oa database contains many records about Earth, the most well-known being the Apokolips conquest war.
Thousands of years ago, the Apokoliptian military commander Steppenwolf led his Parademon army to launch a new round of colonial wars. After destroying countless civilized planets, he arrived in Sector 2814 of the universe and found this beautiful planet.
Then, Steppenwolf, who had never experienced setbacks, tasted defeat for the first time.
He was driven back to his home planet by a combined army of the Green Lantern Corps and the three major human races, and hadn't left for thousands of years.
The database had no detailed records of that war, only one saying that was passed down: Earth possesses extremely powerful forces, enough to contend with the Green Lantern Corps.
Therefore, upon arriving on Earth, Sinestro did not, as usual, use Oa's technology for a full-scale search; he showed due respect.
Coast City, in a dilapidated apartment.
Hal Jordan, his cheeks flushed, stumbled through his front door. His vision was blurry from drunkenness, and it took him a long time to clearly see the strange fellow sitting on the sofa bed.
"Red-skinned freak?"
Hiccup!
"A few days ago, there was a big-headed freak, hiccup! Today, there's another red-skinned freak... Motherfucker! Can't I get some peace and quiet?"
Hal Jordan hiccupped, fumbled in his pocket for his phone to call the police, telling those damn good-for-nothing cops to come out and take a stroll.
Sinestro looked at him expressionlessly, his face growing darker and his eyes more sullen. He raised a finger, and a torrent of cold water descended from above, drenching Hal to the bone.
A chilling sensation spread throughout his body, and Hal shivered violently.
"Hal Jordan, you disappoint me greatly."
Sinestro stood up, his eyes fixed forward, his face as hard as iron.
"You are a warrior of the Green Lantern Corps, the successor of Abin Sur, entrusted with the great mission of maintaining peace in the universe. Yet, I see a drunkard, a coward, a useless person who can't even walk steadily."
"Where is the ring? I will reclaim it. A person like you is not worthy of possessing the ring."
The aura emanating from Sinestro was too strong, like a mountain. Hal instinctively took two steps back, his vision quickly clearing. When he realized that the red-skinned freak standing before him was the Corps leader Sinestro, his face instantly paled.
"I... I... I..."
"I don't want to hear a coward's words. Where is the ring?"
Hal opened his mouth, a complex mix of emotions flashing across his face. Finally, he lowered his head.
"Someone took it."
Sinestro: "..."
"Who took it?"
Hal hesitated for a few seconds, then mumbled in a mosquito-like voice,
"Luke Shaw!"
Sinestro looked at the other Green Lantern Corps member in the room. The latter took out a device and transmitted all the information it found about Luke Shaw to Sinestro's retina.
"Seventeen years old, underage, gang leader, founder of ShowMe, he's the one who defeated you." Before Hal could speak, Sinestro continued,
"I'll give you two days to get the ring back. If you can't do it, I will intervene on behalf of the Green Lantern Corps."
"Abin Sur's ring will never be allowed to become a trophy."
