The figure stepped closer and reached out to grab Emilia.
Lucas turned, pulling Emilia quickly out of his reach, and rolled to the other side.
His back hit the frame of the bed with a thump, and he groaned in pain but gathered his strength quickly.
Then, biting his lower lip, he grabbed the back of her head, pulling her lips into his.
Emilia barely had time to gasp before pain exploded across her lips as well.
Sharp and sudden, then blood welled instantly.
Emilia cried out, stunned, as Lucas pressed his mouth to the wound desperately, drawing the blood from her lips.
Not sure if it was his blood or hers, Emilia's hands fisted in his robe in shock.
Then he pulled back just enough to speak, his breath ragged and his eyes blazing with fury and resolve.
"I claim her first."
The figure stared at them, not moving for a while. Then he spoke clearly for both of them to hear.
"Do you know the cost of what you just did?" he asked, and then vanished from the room.
