Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 A new lead

Mr. Sasu's voice thundered through the office, shaking with fury as he bellowed, "Get out! Now!"

His eyes blazed with indignation, leaving no room for doubt. James and Kwame hastily apologized, their words tumbling over each other in their haste to placate him.

"We're terribly sorry, we didn't mean to upset you at all," James begged, his tone pleading and his hands shaking with remorse.

Mr. Sasu's anger crackled like lightning through the room as he thundered, "How dare you, Kwame, how dare you storm into my office to hurl insults at me!"

The air was thick with tension as Kwame and James fled the office, sensing that Mr. Sasu would not grant them a hearing.

His stern demeanor sealed their exit, leaving them no choice but to retreat.

Once they had escaped the oppressive atmosphere of the office, James turned to Kwame, his curiosity tinged with frustration.

"Why on earth did you disrespect him in such a blatant manner?" he asked, his voice laced with concern.

Kwame retorted, his voice dripping with contempt, "What he was spouting made absolutely no sense; he sounded utterly stupid and irrational."

James lamented, his complaint echoing with moral concern, "You should have been far kinder. Why did you unleash such harsh words? He remains our respected teacher, after all."

Kwame's response was livened with fatigue as he announced, "Let's go to class, James; I'm exhausted and too tired for this drama."

He turned and walked away, his steps heavy with weariness.

When they finally arrived at the classroom, the lesson was already in full swing, the teacher's voice filling the air with knowledge.

The teacher's expression turned stern as he demanded, "Why are you now joining us in the middle of the lecture?"

Kwame answered with unwavering confidence and a hint of defiance, "We were detained with Mr. Sasu."

The teacher's voice rang with confidence as he declared, "I don't care; no one misses my class."

James pleaded, his tone earnest and humble, "We're terribly sorry, sir; it would never happen again."

The teacher's response was calm yet commanding, "It better not; I won't spare you the next time. Go sit."

The two guys thanked the teacher and went to their seats, their relief evident in their quiet steps.

As soon as the teacher left, Shantel asked, "What took you guys so long?"

Kwame interrupted James, saying, "We were marking some books for Mr. Sasu."

James added, his words sincere, "Yes, we will be going there often to help him out with some things."

Shantel smiled warmly, "Oh, then I can help you; tell me the next time you're going."

James replied, his agreement eager, "Okay, alright."

Kwame looked at James and raised an eyebrow, his gaze questioning.

During lunch break, James and Kwame sat under a majestic mahogany tree on the school compound.

James broke the silence, asking, "What if he is right?" Kwame quizzed James.

"No, no. What do you mean to tell me, you believe my brother is in this city?" James replied earnestly.

"Yes, it can be true. Remember Mr. Sasu has been looking for him for the past decade", James said.

Kwame suggested urgently, "If that is the case, we need to go talk to him again."

James warned, his voice tinged with caution, "Please don't say anything to upset him again."

Kwame replied, "I can't promise you that."

James got angry, "Then I won't go with you."

Kwame softened the mood, saying, "I was just joking; we'd go meet him during lunch break tomorrow."
