Madara's gaze put An Yan on high alert, but he didn't attack immediately.
"To be able to track me here, this generation of Konoha ninja is not bad. But since you know the Flying Thunder God Technique, are you a disciple of Tobirama Senju?"
His voice was deep and hoarse, yet it held an undeniable authority.
An Yan was tense. The pressure of facing the Rinnegan was greater than he had imagined. One wrong move, and he could really die here.
He did not act rashly, nor did he answer Madara's question. If he answered, he would lose the psychological advantage, which would be detrimental to the upcoming fight.
Madara's White Zetsu were everywhere. An Yan didn't believe for a second that he didn't know who he was. He was just putting on an act to pressure him.
The Uchiha's "kings of cool" were all like this.
So, An Yan chose to answer a question with a question.
"The legendary Rinnegan? Who are you? A descendant of the Sage of Six Paths? Or a throwback from some other strange bloodline?"
Madara was playing dumb, and so was An Yan. But Madara didn't know that An Yan knew who he was. However, it wasn't in his nature to lie.
He just looked at An Yan and announced himself.
"I am Madara Uchiha. You should have heard my name."
Although he had just thought that answering would mean losing the upper hand, when Madara answered, An Yan felt that he was the one who had lost it. This final boss's psychological pressure was truly immense.
"So it's the legendary great figure. I've heard so much about you."
Hearing Madara's name, An Yan put on a look of awe, but his eyes couldn't help but glance at the pipes connecting him to the Gedo Statue.
It seemed that at this stage, Madara's body was already failing and needed the Gedo Statue to keep him alive. He wondered if he could cut the pipes and if Madara would die instantly.
The moment he saw the Gedo Statue, An Yan decided he had to leave his own Flying Thunder God marker on it. In the future, he would find a way to seal it and see who could still collect the tailed beasts.
Or, with this thing, he could even organize his own tailed beast collection organization. That was a good idea too.
But sealing the Gedo Statue in front of Madara was probably unrealistic. He would have to settle for marking it and dealing with it later.
Madara's gaze was incredibly sharp. The moment An Yan's eyes flickered to the pipes, he knew his next move.
"Hah, an arrogant junior. It seems I have been silent for too long, and the ninja world has forgotten my terror."
Madara sneered and stood up. Without much movement, his bones cracked. He took a few steps forward and broke the connection to the Gedo Statue himself. The pipes fell to the ground, and an unknown liquid spilled out. An Yan was stunned.
He remembered that in the Third Great Ninja War, Madara had died immediately after being disconnected from the Gedo Statue. Although this was during the Second War, it was only about ten years before the Third. His physical condition shouldn't be that good.
"The long-forgotten pain." After unplugging the pipes, Madara stood there, feeling the pain, as if it made him feel alive.
After a moment of shock, An Yan immediately made his move. He couldn't let Madara get the first hit. What if he summoned a ten-kilometer-diameter meteor? All he could do then was run.
Madara was old and weak, so An Yan would fight him in taijutsu. Kick him while he's down. In an instant, An Yan was in front of him. Before he could even throw his monster strength punch, his expression changed, and he vanished.
He returned to where he had first appeared, where he had left a marker. A circular crater had formed around Madara.
The power of the Rinnegan in Madara's hands was truly on another level. A basic attack had almost killed him.
Is that the Almighty Push?
Before he could even marvel at it, a powerful suction pulled him into the air, towards Madara.
At the last moment, with a zero-frame start-up, he slammed a Wind Style: Massive Rasengan onto it. After years of development, his chakra capacity was extraordinary. A once-difficult high-level jutsu was now just a regular attack.
Seeing the giant Rasengan coming, Madara pulled out a Gunbai fan from somewhere, looking to pull off a cool Uchiha Counter.
However, An Yan's Wind Style: Rasengan could be used as a laser cannon. He detonated it in mid-air. The massive energy blast covered Madara and the Gedo Statue behind him.
The small jutsu, of course, did no damage to the Gedo Statue. An Yan's eyes narrowed. This thing seems to be a good meat shield.
The light faded. Madara moved the fan, looking completely unharmed, not even a speck of dust on his clothes.
An Yan didn't understand why Madara had used the fan. He remembered that the Rinnegan could directly absorb ninjutsu and chakra. The only explanation was that he was trying to trick him. As expected of the evil Uchiha.
Unfortunately, An Yan didn't know sage art. Otherwise, this fight would be much easier.
But the goal of this fight was not to defeat Madara, but to rescue Kana. So, there was still a chance.
Although Madara looked like he had already won, he wasn't fighting seriously. It seemed he wanted to see what he was capable of. The Uchiha's battle-loving instincts were kicking in again.
Against an enemy of Madara's level, An Yan had few trump cards he could use, and he didn't want to reveal them. After a brief exchange, he knew he was no match for him. Since he couldn't win, why reveal so much information? It was better to play dirty.
An Yan brought his hands together and used the Demonic Illusion: Bringer-of-Darkness Technique.
The already dim cave was plunged into darkness.
Madara laughed in anger.
"You dare to use genjutsu in front of an Uchiha?"
A purple light glowed in his Rinnegan. He looked directly at An Yan's position in the darkness. And that was exactly what An Yan was waiting for.
The next moment, an endless bright light flared up.
"Take this! Solar Flare!"
