Chapter 24 - Regret, Damn, I Regret It

"You two! Just who in the world are you?"

"Sect Leader, it's obvious these two are here to cause trouble!"

"This is outrageous!"

Shen Zhao and Ding Buer's argument had completely infuriated the people of the Guhe Sect.

However, facing their accusations, Shen Zhao simply replied calmly, "We were just talking. Why are you all so worked up?"

Ding Buer chimed in, "Exactly, exactly! Can't even let people speak their minds? That's just unreasonable."

Immediately, a group of Guhe Sect disciples pointed at the two of them and began to curse. The originally serious atmosphere instantly transformed into something akin to a bustling market.

Gu Tianhe's face twisted with rage as he pointed at them. "Who are you? I've never seen you before! Do you have a Pass Token?"

Shen Zhao retorted, "We're here to run the instance. We're not lying!"

He held up his Pass Token.

Ding Buer, standing beside him, also took out his own, muttering, "See? We were properly invited!"

Gu Tianhe picked up the two Pass Tokens and examined them carefully. They were indeed the tokens he had issued, causing him to become suspicious. "Where did you two get these Pass Tokens?"

"Are you kidding? The Fuxi Abyss only cares about the Pass Tokens, not who's holding them. Why do you care where we got them?"

"Exactly. Do you live by the sea? Why are you so nosy?"

Furious, Gu Tianhe declared, "Your origins are unknown. The Guhe Sect has the right to confiscate these Pass Tokens!"

After saying that, he planned to take back the two Pass Tokens.

But then…

"He's panicking, he's panicking! He's so desperate!"

"Exactly! If you can't handle it, don't play. And they call themselves a major sect, changing their minds like that, their words are worthless."

"We're much better. You, as the master, I run the boxing gym, we're all about being trustworthy…"

Gu Tianhe and the others were trembling with anger, but they couldn't do anything.

They had indeed issued the Pass Tokens, and there was no precedent for retracting them during the opening of the Fuxi Abyss.

This breaking of precedent would likely displease the other forces.

Especially those present, who isn't a peerless genius? Could he afford to offend any of them?

"See? That's the power of having connections. He can change his mind whenever he wants, and no one can do anything about it."

"Exactly! Who are we to say anything when they have connections? Even if they look down on people, no one will say a word."

"That's right, that's right. It's just that we don't have good backgrounds, so we can only be bullied."

"Yeah, I also want to join a sect and freeload, so we can talk tough too."

"Hahaha…"

Gu Tianhe's face was contorted. He never expected these two old men to be so venom-tongued, yet he was utterly speechless.

The two Pass Tokens he held in his hands now felt like hot potatoes.

Returning it would damage the Guhe Sect's reputation.

Not returning it... What would the others think?

Just as he was feeling conflicted, someone spoke up, "Senior Brothers, please watch your words. The Sect Leader is, after all, the one in charge of this Fuxi Abyss. Please, for my sake, don't make things difficult for him."

The speaker was a refined scholar sitting next to Yu Xiyan, and he was quite handsome.

Shen Zhao glanced at him, and a cold light flashed in his eyes.

This person was named Chu Yang, the Ninth Prince of the Great Xia Dynasty.

Compared to Lin Feng in his past life, Chu Yang was even more disgusting. Not only was he half a Son of Destiny, but he also followed the double standard dog trope. His style of doing things was self-serving, ruthless, and devoid of any sense of morality.

In short, this guy would never do anything that involved interacting with people.

Once, a small family had helped Chu Yang when he was at his lowest. Later, because some of the family's servants had spoken harshly to him, Chu Yang, after gaining power, completely wiped out the entire family.

Another time, someone had flirted with the goddess he was pursuing. Even she hadn't said anything, but Chu Yang took the opportunity to kill the man and his family, and then he defiled the man's recently-turned-of-age female relatives, turning them into puppets for public amusement.

Besides this, Chu Yang was a walking, talking cannon. Wherever he went, there was bound to be chaos. Countless female cultivators from various sects were discarded by him, without any sense of responsibility a man should have.

He even dared to get his father's concubines pregnant, directly giving his father a green hat. He was truly a filial son, even a sea king would be ashamed.

These were just a small part of Chu Yang's life. More disgusting deeds were too numerous to count. However, because Chu Yang was very good at pretending, he presented himself to outsiders as a gentleman who cared for the people and had the world in his heart.

Gu Tianhe, seeing someone come to his rescue, and it was the Ninth Prince of the Great Xia Dynasty, immediately straightened his back and gave Chu Yang a grateful smile.

"Thank you, Your Highness the Ninth Prince."

Chu Yang also smiled faintly, his peripheral vision constantly fixed on Yu Xiyan, who remained composed.

The moment Chu Yang saw Yu Xiyan, a strong desire to conquer her welled up inside him.

For a beauty of such unparalleled elegance, the more she put on an icy, distant facade, the more he wanted to mold her into someone who only thought of pleasing him.

Seeing that Yu Xiyan remained unmoved and unable to start a conversation with her, Chu Yang stood up.

"Everyone, I am Chu Yang, the Ninth Prince of the Great Xia Dynasty. I..."

However, before he could finish speaking, Shen Zhao's voice, sarcastically, rang out again: "Here we go again. Afraid others don't know how important he is? Who doesn't know he's a prince?"

Ding Buer chimed in, "Exactly, exactly. Just a prince. They're a dime a dozen. Throw a stone from the roof, and you'll hit seven out of ten relatives of the emperor. What's there to be so smug about?"

A hint of ruthlessness flashed in Chu Yang's eyes. He then said to the two men, "You two, I have no grievances with you. Why do you have to mock me?"

"How do you know we're mocking you?" Shen Zhao retorted. "We were just talking casually. Why are you taking it so seriously?"

Ding Buer: "Exactly. It's your own narrow-mindedness that makes you think we're talking about you."

Shen Zhao: "If that's what you want to believe, then there's nothing we can do about it."

Chu Yang took a deep breath, stood still for a moment, and then said, "You two are, after all, seniors. How can you be so arrogant and look down on others?

I, Chu Yang, am not talented, but I reached the peak of Body Tempering at five years old, the Soul Sea Realm at seven, and entered the Soul Sea Realm at thirteen. Now, at twenty-four, I am at the peak of the Soul Sea Realm.

During that time, I visited many famous teachers to cultivate, but I have never seen anyone as unique as you two."

Chu Yang said this partly to show off, hoping to gain Yu Xiyan's favor. Secondly, it was full of a strong sense of threat, warning Shen Zhao and Ding Buer to think carefully about the consequences of offending him.

However, who was Shen Zhao? In his previous nine lives, he was the God of War and Butcher of Men who could shock the entire Immortal Martial Continent and even the Nine Realms of Gods and Demons. Would he be afraid of a little Chu Yang?

"Laughable. You haven't even finished middle school and you're already out trying to make your way in the world, yet you think you're so amazing. Just doing some manual labor, what's with the superiority complex?"

"Exactly, exactly! It's like a toad marrying a frog – ugly and still trying to show off. With that level of skill, he dares to come out and act superior? One word: disgusting!"

As soon as these words left their mouths, the hall erupted in chuckles.

The crowd, originally awed by Chu Yang's imposing presence, were immediately placated by Shen Zhao and Ding Buer's words.

Yu Xiyan frowned slightly, her delicate eyebrows furrowing once more.

The way Liu Chengzhou spoke... it felt strangely familiar, so intimate.

Once upon a time, there was a man who only had eyes for her, using this same witty and humorous style to try and win her over.

Although she remained cold and never gave him any favor, she found it quite amusing deep down, even secretly smiling when no one was around.

As for Chu Yang, he was on the verge of breaking down.

He felt for the first time how terrifying it was to be relentlessly criticized. Killing intent surged within him – he was already planning to deal with these two ants who dared to offend him once they entered the Fuxi Abyss.

But to maintain his image, he still adopted an air of magnanimity: "I am not very knowledgeable, and I have made a fool of myself in front of you two seniors."

"Laughable. You know you're ignorant and still come out here to show off? If you'd just finished middle school, you'd probably be trying to hang out with the sun."

"Exactly! If I were him, I wouldn't have the face to be out here, wouldn't it be better to stay home and hide? And I mean, turn off the lights kind of hide."

Shen Zhao and Ding Buer chimed in, not giving a damn about Chu Yang and Gu Tianhe.

Chu Yang clenched his fists tightly, his face ashen, as if water could drip from it.

If looks could kill, Shen Zhao and Ding Buer probably wouldn't know how many times they'd been killed.

Since the day he was born, who hadn't treated him with courtesy? Even his enemies would give him due respect.

It was the first time in his life that he'd been publicly challenged and humiliated like this.

"I swear, I'll get those two old geezers tomorrow!"

Seeing Chu Yang's gloomy expression, Shen Zhao immediately added, "What's with you? You look constipated. We were just talking, don't take it to heart."

"Exactly, don't tell me you can't handle this?"

"If that's the case, then we were wrong, are you satisfied now?"

"If you're still not satisfied, then there's nothing we can do."

Chu Yang was filled with regret. Why had he been so stupid as to provoke those two argumentative guys? Wouldn't it have been better to just sit quietly?

Regret, he fucking regretted it!

I have to kill those two bastards. Otherwise, I'll never get over this.
