Chapter 339 - Don’t Look! - 339

The next morning, Dream Weaver opened her eyes right on time, going through her usual morning routine as always.

Only today, what she slipped into wasn't her school uniform, but a simple short-sleeved top and trousers.

Even though the race outfits in the script worlds kept getting more and more dazzling, in the real world Dream Weaver's wardrobe was still pretty much the same—a tracksuit, her school uniform, and a few well-worn casual pieces she'd had for who knows how long.

She'd earned some prize money by now, but Dream Weaver hadn't really thought about buying anything for herself. Instead, she'd been quietly saving it all.

Once she was ready to head out, Dream Weaver stood in front of the door, took a long, deep breath, and slowly pushed it open.

She'd already asked her teacher for leave yesterday.

So, today was the day.

Right today, she would wake her mother up.

"Good morning, Little Dream," Grandma called up from downstairs with a warm smile.

"Be careful on your way to take care of your mom, okay?"

During yesterday's gathering, Dream Weaver had already told everyone she'd be taking the day off to visit her mother at the hospital.

So Grandma wasn't surprised to see her in casual clothes on a school day.

"I will."

"Bye, Grandma."

Dream Weaver gave a serious nod toward Grandma before stepping out of the apartment.

Since they lived in a small place near the hospital, Dream Weaver could just walk there.

Strolling down that familiar road, she couldn't help but drift into memories.

She remembered walking back along this very path after completing her first script mission, returning from the hospital.

She thought about how Dancing Brave had once offered to help cover her mother's medical bills, upgrade her hospital room, and even help build her the best training team.

Back then, Dream Weaver—she hadn't felt right refusing, especially with how insistently the other girl had put it.

But after finishing her second script mission, she'd politely declined over the phone number the other had left.

Back at the start, she never imagined she'd be able to save her mother so soon. Coupled with Dream Weaver's no-nonsense attitude, she just hadn't known how to say no.

But after her second script mission, her active points were already nearing fifty thousand—she could finally see a glimmer of hope for saving her mother.

So no matter how Dancing Brave tried to persuade her, she firmly refused.

Back then, she still wasn't used to accepting such precious kindness from others.

Even now, though, Dream Weaver knew she would've still turned down Dancing Brave's offer. She'd always believed that if she could manage something herself, she shouldn't trouble others.

But the kindness Dancing Brave had shown was real—just like the warmth from everyone in the apartment building.

One way or another, she knew she had to repay that kindness someday.

Walking along, Dream Weaver nodded to herself with resolve.

Before she knew it, she was standing before the hospital's main entrance.

She made her way to the building where her mother's ward was, pressed the long-memorized floor number in the elevator, and followed the familiar path to that room.

After exchanging nods with a nurse just leaving the room, Dream Weaver stepped inside and saw that figure once again.

The person on the bed looked to be in her thirties, with soft, pale blue hair. Though thin and a bit pale, her delicate features were still evident.

Dream Weaver walked over and quietly took her mother's hand.

In her third script world, she'd entered one that seemed to hint at the reason behind her mother's coma.

In that world, her mother was a descendant of the fallen Northern family. In her desire to achieve the glory of a Tenno Sho double, she'd pushed her body too far, triggering a flare-up of her illness that led to her passing.

Dream Weaver didn't know how much of that world overlapped with reality.

If the story were truly like that world, then even if the Northern family had declined, the Mejiro family would've definitely come looking.

Given the Mejiro family's guilt and obsession toward her mother in that script world, how could they possibly leave her lying alone in a hospital bed?

Heck, her mother wouldn't have even been able to live alone with Dream Weaver—Mejiro Ardan, leading the Mejiro family, would've used every connection to find her the moment her mother left.

But none of that had happened in the real world.

So maybe that script world hinted at something, but it couldn't be taken as the full truth.

Even though that world's Ardan and her mother still looked alike, they ultimately belonged to different worlds now.

Just from the way Ardan had run over to find her before, Dream Weaver felt she didn't seem like someone with glass legs.

In that case, everything learned in that world might only serve as a partial reference.

"But it doesn't really matter now."

"Right now, I'm holding the key to my mother's happiness."

Dream Weaver gently spoke, holding her mother's warm hand.

At the same time, she quietly summoned the system in her mind.

As that translucent blue screen appeared before her eyes, Dream Weaver's gaze grew even steadier.

Scrolling through the southern city listings, she found the item called "Gem of Hope," then said inwardly,

'System, exchange for the Gem of Hope.'

The moment the words formed, that all-too-familiar mechanical voice echoed beside Dream Weaver's ear.

[Scanning…]

[Exchange requirements met.]

[Exchange successful.]

With the system's confirmation, the last weight in Dream Weaver's heart finally lifted.

Without hesitation, she immediately retrieved the item called Gem of Hope from her inventory.

As Dream Weaver willed it, a sudden weight appeared in her pocket.

Holding her mother's hand with one hand, Dream Weaver used the other to pull the Gem of Hope from her pocket.

A gem that sparkled with a rainbow sheen, like one set in a crown, glimmered under the sunlight before her eyes.

The moment she held it, Dream Weaver fully understood its effect.

"To make what people wish for in their hearts come true… it really is the real deal."

She spoke softly, gazing at the gleaming gem in her hand.

The effect of the Gem of Hope was to change the world.

In that instant, Dream Weaver suddenly remembered the note in the system's description of the gem.

"The power of love… can change the world, huh."

Right now, if Dream Weaver wanted, she could even use the Gem of Hope to shift the real world's timeline into one of the script worlds she'd experienced before.

Of course, aside from that extravagant effect, Dream Weaver could also use it to change a single person's fate.

Her earlier musings had coincidentally come true—the Gem of Hope in Dream Weaver's hand really was a key to guiding her mother toward a world of happiness.

Dream Weaver tightened her grip on the gem, looked at her pale mother on the bed, and whispered,

"I'll create a world…"

"where Mother can be happy."

The moment the words left her lips, light erupted from the Gem of Hope in her hand, flooding the entire room.
