The High Priest tapped one finger against the armrest of his chair.
He had been preparing to confront Valerian over the first woman's arrival, only to discover that she might not be the true chosen one after all.
If the reports were true, Valerian's decision to keep her under his protection would become a far more serious matter.
He would have to explain why he had concealed her arrival and why he had kept the matter under his own control, especially now that the other kingdoms were questioning her identity.
And if the emperor had deliberately attempted to pass an impostor off as the chosen woman, the Holy Kingdom would have every reason to intervene.
The High Priest found the possibility amusing.
He had not even made his first move, yet the situation was already developing in his favor.
Of course, he wasn't foolish enough to believe every report he received.
