Chapter 36

BELLATRIX LESTRANGE

CRACK! CRACK!

SHATTER!

And the wards shattered infront of her eyes, and she could not help but feel a shiver of excitement at the display of sheer might from their Dark Lord. Traitors they may be, but the McKinnons were an old family, and the wards surrounding their manse were ancient and powerful.

Yet nothing mattered in front of the prowess of their lord, who stood in the air beside them as the McKinnon manse stood there in front of their eyes.

"Mosmorde," her lord whispered as a green light shot out of his wand, and the clouds gathered at his command while his symbol began to gleam in them, and she could feel her Mark warming up as the Dark Lord gave his command.

"Go," he said, and the Death Eaters followed his command as they rushed towards the House and began to blast it apart.

"Show the world what it means to go against the Dark Lord," he warned, and this was it. This was what she had waited for. What they had all waited for.

And soon enough, sounds of battle erupted all over the clearing as the Dark Lord finally turned towards her.

"The boy," he whispered, as Bellatrix nodded.

"I leave him to you," and Bellatrix could not believe the honor that she was receiving. That boy had been a thorn in their side for quite some time, and now the Dark Lord was entrusting her with such a responsibility.

"I will not let you down, my lord," and with that, she flew towards the House as well and rushed in through one of the windows, and it was absolute chaos in there, as spells whipped through the air.

The McKinnons were an old pureblood family and would not go down without putting up a fight. But she did not may them any heed, nor did she care as three of her own fellows were blown to bits as she frantically searched the home for her target.

"Where are you? Evans! SHOW YOURSELF!" she screamed, wanting to exact revenge for their lord, when she heard the voice of one of her own fellows.

"He is he...AGHHHH!" and her head whipped towards the source of the commotion, as she slowly began to make her way through the Halls.

"AGHHH!" and the wall beside her was blown apart, and she watched as Lockwood's body was thrown back as it hit the ground, as the man turned unconscious, and as she glanced up, she saw three masked friends of hers trying to fight one singular person, and despite outnumbering him, it was the three of them who were struggling.

"AGHH!" and another one of them was thrown out of the house, as Bellatrix pulled out her own wand and aimed it squarely at the boy.

"Bombarda!" she screamed, and the spell whipped towards him. He redirected the spell at the last moment, and it hit one of her own.

"AGHH!" and his entire arm was blown up, as he screamed at her.

"What are you doing!" they screamed at her, and instead of aiming at the boy, she aimed her wand at her last fellow Death Eater.

"Realshio!" and he was sent tumbling back, as those green eyes finally met her gaze.

"You can have the rest," she said to them all.

"He is mine," for the Dark Lord had entrusted her with this duty, and she would rather die than give up.

"Bellatrix Lestrange," and she raised a brow.

"So, you have heard of me," she spoke with a smile.

"I have," and she cracked her neck.

"And now you shall die by my hands," and with that, she twisted her wand.

"Crcuio!" and the boy pulled a chair in between them, and it was blasted to bits by her spell, yet he did not relent as she sent the splinters in her direction in a swift motion.

"Protego!" and she cast a shield to block the splinters, as she chose to return the favor.

"Relashio!" and the orb shot out of her wand, yet the boy did not relent as he raised his wand, and she felt a sharp pain in her leg.

"AGHHH!" and she had blocked all the splinters, yet as she glanced down, she saw that he had transfigured the ground below her into a spike which had cut right into her leg.

"YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS!" and he split her spell, as she pushed back the shield and aimed her wand at him once more.

"Incendio!" and a great fire shot out of her wand, and with a single twist it coiled into the form of a dozen snakes as it headed towards him, to try and devour him at once, yet the Mudblood bastard was faster than she had thought.

"AGUAMENTI!" and a jet of water shot out of his wand, and doused out her flames, yet he did not stop there, and just as she was about to cast another spell, the water fountain doused her entire form, as a cold, chill ran through her entire body.

"How dare you!" she screamed, as she was drenched in water

"Avada Ked..." and she had hoped to bring him to the dark Lord for his punishment, but in her moment of rage, she chose to end him at once as she whipped out her wand in that iconic movement.

"Nifelheim!" Yet before she could finish the words, she felt her entire body still, as the water froze in the blink of an eye, and she was frozen solid, and the chill penetrated into her bones as the bastard stood there imperiously, as cold air wafted out of his mouth and nostrils.

"I want to kill you, but I cannot," she heard him whisper as she tried her best to move, but the ice refused to budge, and she could barely breathe enough to remain conscious.

"Yet that does not mean that I will let you destroy lives," and with that, he brought up his wand and sliced through the air.

"Sectumsempra," and the cold numbed the pain, yet her eyes widened as she watched her hand fall to the ground, the blood from her wound could only ooze for a second before the cold froze it as well.

"You will live, but you will never harm another soul..." and she wanted to scream. She wanted to kill him, yet the ice refused to budge as the cold began to eat away at her conscience, when suddenly she felt warmth surround her, as a thick voice reached her ears.

"To think that you would fail me, my dear Bella..." and he was here. She could only stand there in humiliation, as her lord flew through the corridor, his red gaze moving past her as if she were an insignificant bug.

No.

She wanted to move. She wanted to be useful. She wanted to serve him, and yet she could not. She had failed him.

"Still, I am surprised that you managed to subdue my dear Bella so quickly. It seems the rumors about you were true indeed," the Dark Lord began, as his feet touched the ground, yet the very cold which had trapped her in her place refused to touch his mighty being as that mudblood boy paled in fear and reverence.

"You are quite talented," and to hear her lord praise that mudblood. Bellatrix wanted to tear out her heart, and could not believe her ears as the Dark Lord gave the boy an offer.

"Kneel," he offered, and the air stilled.

"Kneel, and I shall make you one of my own and take you in as one of my own," and he was offering him a place by his side.

"Join me, and I shall reveal to you the true might of magic. You shall have anything you can desire," and it was a grand offer as he had made to anyone. Mostly, they had to beg him to join the cause, and yet here her lord was offering the boy an opportunity of a lifetime.

"I am afraid..." the boy answered as his wand lit up.

"I am quite comfortable where I am. LUMOS SOLARIS!"

ALDER EVANS

Alder had wanted to kill Bellatrix. All it would have needed was one spell, and given what she had done and what she would do in the future, he knew for a fact that the world would have been better for it.

Yet in the end, he could not do it. Not yet, but that did not mean that he would let her wreak as much havoc as she may desire, and so he would take her wand arm from her.

Most wizards used their dominant arm to wield their wand, and now, with that hand gone, Bellatrix Lestrange would never be able to cast magic as she once had.

Yet before he could bask in the glow of his victory, a cold shiver ran down his spine as the leader of the Death Eaters appeared before him. Alder had heard rumors about his powers and his appearance, yet nothing could have prepared him for the real experience.

Voldemort was no man. He was pale, and his face had clear serpentine features with no nose and an exaggerated mouth, yet it was not his appearance that bothered him most.

No.

It was his magic. Powerful witches and wizards exuded an aura because of their powers. The Headmaster often gave a rather warm feeling, and his magic would often feel like a warm blanket. But Voldemort's magic felt corrosive and cold.

Beating Bellatrix Lestrange was one thing, yet as soon as he felt the Dark Lord's presence, he knew that he was no match for him. Not yet. Voldemort was on an entirely different level than Bellatrix Lestrange, and the best that he could do was to keep him occupied until help arrived.

"I am afraid...." Alder whispered, as his grip on his wand tightened, as he prepared himself for the fight of his life.

"...I am quite comfortable here!" and with that, he saw those red orbs narrow, and he did not wait for an answer as he raised his hand and pushed all his magic into the spell.

"LUMOS SOLARIS!" and he heard a snarl, as the Dark Lord recoiled at the blinding light, but it was one of his rather well-worked spell chains, and even with his eyes pinched together, he reached for the roof above them, and with a flick of his wand, crashed it atop the Dark Lord.

"AGHHH!" he grunted in rage, as he waved his wand wildly, and the debris was pushed to the side, much of it hit Bellatrix's frozen form, and the former Black witch's body was thrown across the room as those red orbs narrowed onto him.

"You will die for your insolence," and Alder had no time for japes, as he used a movement charm and jumped out of the hole he had carved up in the ceiling, and unlike the Dark Lord, he could not quite fly, but there were quite a few intricate movement charms that one could use, and this was one of them.

The Dark Lord was quick to chase after him as he whipped out his wand.

"CRUCIO!" and the spell whizzed past him, as Alder aimed his wand at his behind as he ran on the wall.

"Incendio!" he screamed, as a burst of fire shot out of his wand, yet in the blink of an eye, the dark, shadowy figure of the Dark Lord was just beside him once more.

"HWAAAA!" The man waved his wand, giving him no time to react as an invisible force struck him in the chest, and Alder flew into the air as the Dark Lord appeared above him.

"Crucio..."

"AGUAMENTI!"

And a jet of water shot out of his wand, forming a sort of cocoon around him, and as the torture curse hit the water, it exploded, pushing him onto the ground.

"AGHHH!" he grunted as his back hit the ground, while his body rolled on the ground, yet he knew that he could not rest, as he quickly pushed himself back to his feet, as the Dark Lord landed on the ground in front of him imperiously.

"You are skilled," he complimented, and his smile showed his fang-like teeth as he whipped his wand again.

"But not skilled enough..." and an invisible force rushed off of the bastard once more, and this time he reacted just in time as he conjured a shield in front of him, yet he was still pushed back as he quickly shot a counter towards the bastard.

"Sectumsempra," and the invisible slash rushed towards the pale monster, who slashed his wand to push away the spell, yet despite his effort, the spell tore through his shoulder, as the Dark Lord screamed in agony, giving him the opening he needed.

And after a quick barrage of spells, Alder began to rush towards the lush forest just at the edge of the estate, as the Dark Lord's snarls reached his ears.

"How dare you! CRUCIO!" he shot, and just as he reached the thick cover of the forest, Alder closed his eyes, and in the next second, his body grew lighter, and his world shifted as he turned into his Animagus form.

He turned into a raven as he began to fly through the trees. Dark Lord flew into the forest and began to chase after him, yet for the first time since their fight, Alder could match his speed as he whipped through the trees, and spells continued to whizz past him.

BANG!

BOOOM!

BOOOOOOM!

Before his transformation, he had conjured up a flock of ravens to distract the man, and the decoys served their purpose as they distracted the bastard for long enough before he appeared on his tail.

"YOU CANNOT RUN FROM ME!" and a wave of pure unadulterated dark magic came off of the bastard, and hit him. He crashed into a tree and fell to the ground as his transformation unravelled.

"SHIT!" Alder cursed as the world began to spin, and he had hit his head pretty hard and was bleeding. Yet his survival instincts pushed him past his limits as he got back to his feet just as Voldemort landed in front of him again, and the wound on his shoulder had healed, but the scar to his ego still remained.

"You think you can face me! YOU! I AM LORD VOLDEMORT! I AM THE MAN WHO HAS CONQUERED DEATH ITSELF!" and with that, he shot a barrage of spells out his wand, and Alder could run no more, so he held his ground, as he began to counter them as well as he could.

SHING! THWACK!

BANG!

He parried what he could, used a shield when he could and simply dodged as much as he could, but Voldemort's speed of casting was inhuman, and it was like facing a dozen Aurors at once and within a few seconds he was overwhelmed, as a spell grazed his cheek, and then hit him on the thigh and the pain made him falter for a second, before a massive blow landed on his shoulder.

"AGHHHHH!"

Alder heard the bone explode, as blood was splattered all around.

"AHHHHH!" he screamed in pain, as he fell to the ground and his wand rolled to the ground.

"Now, it is time for you to suffer," and he saw him raise that yew wand as he aimed it straight at his face.

"Cruci..." yet before he could finish the spell, the very air shifted, and Alder felt his pain and agony vanish as a sweet cry tore through the darkness. It was a cry that many of them had heard in Hogwarts, and Tom himself was no different as his face shifted with rage.

"Dumbledore!" he snarled, and Alder saw the air in front of him light up, as a giant figure emerged from the fire, and his usual genial smile was replaced by a look of pure terror as the Headmaster of Hogwarts forced himself in between him and the Dark Lord.

"Tom..." the Headmaster whispered, as he raised his wand, and he could see doubt in those red orbs even as his own vision began to darken.

"The Hous..." he tried to speak to the Headmaster, and even with that word, he got the hint as he gave him a subtle nod.

"You need not worry about the McKinnons. The Aurors are already there," and the words seemed to take the dark Lord by surprise.

"What?" he asked, and seeing that expression of shock was a thing of beauty as Alder realised that his little ploy had worked.

Baiting the Dark Lord into the forest, and away from the castle, had been his plan, for he knew that without him, the Aurors would be able to make quick work of his Death Eaters.

So, when he had been running into the forest, he had cast a rather simple silencing ward in the direction of the House. It was nothing strong or complex, but a simple ward that shut out all of the noise from one specific direction, and with him keeping the bastard occupied, the Aurors would have had ample time to capture as many of his men as possible.

The Dark Lord finally noticed the ward, as those red orbs bulged with rage.

"AHHHHH!" he screamed, and a wave of darkness rushed out of his body, plunging the entire forest into darkness. Seconds later, when Dumbledore cleared it all away, there was no sign of the Dark Lord as those blue orbs fell towards him, as the Headmaster began to move his wand in an intricate manner as he felt his pain and conscience fade.

"You have done enough, Mr Evans. Leave the rest to us...."
