"Spidey! Hey, Spidey!"
Spider-Man is in Sarina's hospital room, visiting her. Behind the mask, Sekinin smiled and asked if she wanted to ask him something.
"Has Shocker ever revealed who took him away from his first arrest or what he was even doing trying to rob that bank?"
Spider-Man looks back at what he was able to be told by Yuri earlier today. It seems it took a while, but they managed to discover the identity of the person who impersonated the police officer weeks ago.
Spider-Man really thought it had been the work of Chameleon as there wasn't really anyone else who would flawlessly impersonate someone so easily. Plus, he wasn't exactly sure how, but he just felt Chameleon wouldn't do such a thing, and it all honestly would be even more confusing, as Shocker did in fact rob a bank after he made himself known again.
So yeah, if that was the case, why would the Chameleon bother to take him away to only be captured by Spider-Man again? Well, actually how he thinks of it, perhaps… No, he should stick to his gut feeling.
Anyways back to the topic, the police force managed to find the identity of that impersonator and track him down. They found and interrogated the guy, Spider-Man didn't know what interrogation tactics Yuri used or what he was told, but apparently the guy didn't spill who he was working for.
As if that guy was either too loyal to even rat out his boss, or perhaps was too scared to even speak of the person's name. As if even daring to speak of it would have some kind of unforeseen consequences.
If so, then that was perhaps why Yuri mentioned that he and the other officers are still trying to interrogate the guy. Whoever this person the guy is not giving out must be someone everyone should be cautious about.
Spider-Man didn't know why, but it seemed that way. And felt like he was repeating things again or perhaps that was just him.
"Yes, Shocker did reveal who took him away, but that sadly brought even more questions. Like the person who did it, never told or even wanted to say who ordered them to get Shocker. And if you are wondering if Shocker is in jail now, then the answer is yes, yes he is."
Sarina nodded before changing the subject.
"Spidey, what did you think of my birthday card? If I am being honest I would have gotten you something better if I wasn't so bedridden."
"Sarina, I liked the birthday card. It didn't have to be anything special or anything, even a card is worth showing that someone cares."
Sarina smiled lower for a second, something that Spider-Man immediately noticed. And cursed himself for realizing he had accidentally gone personal again without the intention of doing so. He stood next to Sarina's bedside and adjusted her wool hat.
"Has Miss Hoshino been contacting you?"
The change of topic and of something Sarina would most certainly be excited about has worked as Spider-Man hoped it would. Sarina's expression changed to a smile.
"Yes! Ai would call me when she has free time, or just wishes to just talk to me! She would comment on how hard work being an idol would be. It got to the point that I told her that if I was healthy I would become an idol myself and perform alongside her. And she said she would support me all the way."
Spider-Man nodded while also smiling on the inside. He couldn't help but recall that Ai did give him a birthday present, another kiss on the cheek, and once again lifted his mask halfway through. To touch the same spot where she first kissed his cheek.
But strangely, the first time he received a kiss from Ai, he just couldn't help but feel so cheerful throughout the whole night on that day. As if the world was becoming better for his life. Like nothing would ruin it.
Isn't it strange for a single kiss to have that kind of effect?
But the second kiss, the feeling was neutral. As if, he was kinda expecting more for some odd reason. Sure, Ai did tease him thinking she would get more of a reaction. But to him, it wasn't just that, that kiss felt, hollow or loveless.
Because of that, it made him think of the first kiss, thinking it was also hollow as well. Like… It was meant to be, to be led by a false hope, to think something was ever real. To the one who thought you were the one for you.
To be left alone, broken, thinking that it was real only to be false and go through a depression arc or something like that. Which led to more suffering, not just for himself but for someone else which was again strange to him.
Isn't it weird to think of that so much? Just by another kiss. It was so strange.
Before Spider-Man could think about it too deeply, the door opened. Normally, Spider-Man would have just either wall stick on the wall outside or the ceiling of the room. Or, if it came to it, underneath the hospital bed.
Heck, he would have sensed something but he did, just not of danger or anything, but a familiar presence that was approaching.
"Sarina? Are you sure you wish to… Oh! Spider-Man! I didn't know you would be here today!"
"Hey! Gorou-san!"
Spider-Man greeted the doctor, and Gorou who was smiling also greeted Spider-Man back.
"How have you been 9doing?"
"I've been doing well, thank you for asking Spider-Man."
"…And Sarina?"
Gorou's smile falters a bit before asking Spider-Man to come with him. Gorou exits the room and looks around in the hallway before instructing Spidey to follow him as Spider-Man waves to Sarina who waves back before he goes to follow Gorou.
The two travel to another empty hospital room as Gorou closes the door behind him before sighing to Spider-Man.
"It… It's been getting worse. To the point where… She may die from this illness possibly in a month or so."
Spider-Man just stood still, he didn't utter a word, or anything, just feeling his stomach ache. Not from when he faced the mysterious individual. But the feeling of losing someone, just because life wouldn't give Sarina a happy life.
Spider-Man looked at the floor, he did want to say something, something that he wanted to know. Something that he would know for sure would never be approved of by anyone. Especially Gorou.
"Gorou-san, if there was a way to save Sarina. Anything at all. Would you take it?"
Gorou looked stunned and a little worried by the tone of what Spider-Man had said.
"If I am being honest… Yes, if it means Sarina wouldn't have to continue suffering with that illness. But, that really depends on what you are trying to say."
Spider-Man can see that Gorou figured out what he wanted to say, but also from the tone of the doctor. He wanted confirmation should it come to what Spider-Man wanted to say. Spider-Man let out a sigh before preparing for an expected reaction.
"What if… I gave Sarina my blood. My powers are something of a gift. Like self-healing. Or maybe strength. Possibly even curing the illness."
Gorou now stood still, his expression was hard to read from Spider-Man's eye lenses. But the atmosphere did change from what Spider-Man was feeling.
"Do you know what you are asking?"
"I do, Doc."
"What you are suggesting… Do you even know if your blood is stable enough to even be donated? Even safe to be given?"
Spider-Man didn't answer for a moment, then he opened his mouth.
"I know I am a type A! And… And…"
Spider-Man of course knew what he had mentioned of his own blood to himself. As he spoke to himself, he was lucky to even survive the venom of the enhanced spider. A bite that would or could have affected or damaged him in the process yet he is proof of an accidental spider bite that only Yuri and Rei knew about how he exactly got his powers.
Gorou noticed Spider-Man's lack of confidence or the evidence he wanted to hear.
"If that is the case, how do you know if this will make things better or worse for Sarina?"
Before the tension could even escalate further, Gorou felt his phone vibrate, and Spider-Man suddenly felt his spider-sense react just a tiny bit. When both checked and sensed what was happening they instantly looked back at each other realizing Sarina needed medical attention.
Without bothering to ask the other or even care about Spider-Man being a secret, both instantly left the room and rushed to Sarina's room. And once they reached the room and went inside. Both were extremely worried that something had happened to Sarina.
But to their relief, Sarina still looked alright, frail still. But still breathing okay. She was holding the remote as it was clear how she called Gorou by pressing the red button on the top of the remote.
Gorou immediately asked Sarina if something was wrong. She shook her head and admitted she was not sure if Spider-Man was still with him or not but since he still was, Sarina pointed at the TV on the wall. Everyone looked at the screen and Spider-Man instantly froze as the newswoman began speaking while showing a picture of a damaged building.
"[We are here live at the sudden attack on the Metropolitan Police Department in Tokyo. It seems someone has bombed the department by some kind of terrorist flying around in a strange hover technology. This may be connected to the strange rumors going around—!]"
Before Gorou or Sarina could have reacted, Spider-Man immediately jumped out of the window and swung in desperation.
He needed to get there fast, now! He didn't know if Yuri was okay, or if he was even in the building that was just bombed. But all he knew was the person was possibly still there, or maybe even fled already. But he needed to know if Yuri was okay.
"Come on…! Come on! Swing faster!"
Spider-Man felt this was the fastest he had ever swung since his first web swing. And there it was again, the feeling, his chest tightening, as if… Spider-Man immediately web-zipped backwards and narrowly avoided an explosion to the face.
Then he heard the small laugh and it was like he somehow heard it time and time again. But only once. Spider-Man landed on a roof and looked at the sky as he saw the person on the glider. And his laugh sounded just as it had before. He? Was this person a guy?
"Spider-Man! Huh, I didn't expect to see you again. Hmm… No… Red eyes glow or whatever it was this time."
Spider-Man tilted his head in pure confusion, he didn't hear the guy clearly. He was mumbling. But he heard a mumbled word of "red" as if he witnessed something that Spider-Man didn't even know. Possibly what happened last week. But he can't just simply ask what even happened when it was clearly him, or at least he thinks it was himself who somehow managed to make the person bleed.
So he just has to just be cautious with his words to not give himself away.
"No matter, because I would rather take this opportunity to get some payback!"
With a laugh, the person threw more bombs at Spider-Man causing him to quickly dodge but also web-shot the bombs to ensure they spent a little longer in the air before exploding and avoiding damage to the roof.
But when the moment strikes, Spider-Man doesn't hesitate to deliver a swift kick to the person's head. Then a quick punch to the stomach before swinging a punch at their chest. But the person blocks the attack and pulls Spider-Man to the ground.
The solid ground already felt heavy enough to even feel the impact. There was also his stomach clogging but not as bad as before. It was still there, but it was still a problem should he continue, it was a feeling that would be the case.
So Spider-Man retaliated with another kick as the guy still had his hand on him. Spider-Man didn't know if he increased the power of that kick as the guy was separated from his glider and slammed to a wall. Spider-Man immediately webbed up the glider tightly to the ground hoping it would stick.
"I… I don't suppose you got a name… You maniac."
The guy let out another laugh and… It sounded creepy or terrifying. Had Spider-Man already mentioned this or was this the first time he heard a laugh this unstable? And the stomach pain was slowly increasing.
"I've already told this to that officer. To my surprise, he could still stand after being under all that rubble. But then again—!"
The guy effortlessly blocked an incoming attack from Spider-Man in the air, but what the guy didn't anticipate was a swift kick to the right leg which caused him to falter on the glider. To Spider-Man it meant Yuri had indeed been in the building that the guy bombed. And he was possibly hurt by a near-range explosion or the falling debris. He knew Yuri could recover from a sudden attack, he dealt worse considering he knew him.
But the thought of the Goblin intentionally or not, had hurt Yuri. It was something he would not take lightly. Before Spider-Man… Goblin? Where did that come from? Suddenly the word goblin had entered Spider-Man's thoughts. Spider-Man couldn't help but want to ask a question.
While Spider-Man did a grip with his arms around the guy, trying to ensure he wouldn't use his strength to push Spider-Man back. He asked what was suddenly on his mind.
"You're acting like a goblin! I don't know why but you're causing trouble without remorse!"
Suddenly the guy began to chuckle again, which turned into a laugh, then into full-blown cackling. The laugh became more unstable and terrifying, even making Spider-Man have shivers down his spine. Then without effort, he threw his head back, hitting Spider-Man's nose as he recoiled which gave him the advantage to elbow his stomach as Spider-Man was knocked back to the roof floor.
"If that was a lucky guess, then I am clearly impressed by Spider-Man! But I'll humor you, I am the Green Goblin. And you are about to be splatted further into the floor!"
The Green Goblin simply walked to his trapped glider and simply ripped off the webs. He hopped on the glider and began to hover to a position above Spider-Man, to impale directly on his stomach. Just as the Goblin was about to strike, he sensed something incoming, and narrowly dodged what he assumed was a sharp object.
But before he could question or even look at the location from which that attack was thrown. The Goblin was faced with another kick but this time on his head as Spider-Man did a backflip. Before Spider-Man could once again try to do more, the Goblin began to flee. Spider-Man gave chase as he jumped off the building and shot two web lines to the glider with both wrists holding onto them as he attempted to pull himself to the glider.
But halfway through, the Goblin turned the glider around, like a hard turn, which was enough for the webs to be ripped by the sharp edges. Spider-Man tried to shoot another web line but had to dodge an incoming grenade bomb throw. But it wasn't in the air for more than a second when another unexpected attack collided with the bomb and caused an explosion that greatly hurt the Goblin as Spider-Man had to wall-stick to the nearby building.
Spider-Man tries to find the Goblin through the gray smoke that was caused by the explosion. But he could only hear the noise of the glider flying away as Spider-Man tried to reach another rooftop. Only to notice something on the fire exit stairs as he crawled his way to the thing, only to be immediately cautious as he began to look around.
He saw a golden stiletto, a very similar one to the one he had hidden in his home's basement. The Kraven was possibly nearby. While searching, he picked up the stiletto, it seemed this one was the one that tried to land on the Goblin. Not the one that hit the bomb. But Spider-Man saw a silhouette but was certain that it was Thorn Princess.
But she wasn't coming towards him, but it was like she was in a hurry, jumping from building to building. In a direction where… This caused Spider-Man to realize why he jumped out of the hospital room window, to see if Yuri was okay.
So without hesitation, Spider-Man jumped high and web swung his way to the direction where the Metropolitan Police Department was. Spider-Man was cautious because if Kraven was heading to the damaged department, then who knew what she could be doing or why she was going there in the first place.
