"Look out!"
"Move, move!"
Seeing Kira hurtling toward them, bike and all, not a single member of the Alliance dared to try and catch him. They all scrambled to get out of the way.
Hearing this, Kira's face went pale. He screamed in pure panic, "Wait! Don't move! Somebody catch me!"
Are you kidding? Getting hit by that would hurt like hell!
Natsu, Gray, and the others yelled back in unison, "You moron! Who in their right mind would catch you?!"
However, just as they lifted their feet to bail, they realized they were stuck.
"What the—? I can't move!"
They looked up. Kira and his bike were less than ten feet away. He was wearing a creepy grin, and unknown magic was swirling in his hand.
They realized instantly: Kira had cast a binding spell on them. They immediately started cursing. "Kira, you jerk! If you had time to cast a spell, couldn't you have just hit the brakes yourself?!"
Then, as they watched in horror, they heard Kira's totally punchable voice: "Hehehe... Whoops! Just kidding!"
Everyone froze, faces turning green. Kira stood up on the seat of the moving bike, stomped down hard, and launched himself into the air. He executed a few stylish backflips, his mage robes and cape fluttering in the wind like a free-spirited black butterfly.
Thud!
Kira landed in a crouch, arms spread for balance, sticking the landing perfectly.
"Ta-da!! The hero has arrived in style!"
Meanwhile, the bike—having been stomped on by Kira—suddenly accelerated with increased kinetic energy. It slammed violently into Natsu, Gray, and Lyon, who were unable to dodge in time, and sent them flying.
"Kira, you son of a—!!" ×N
BOOM!
"What a shame. I was planning on a last-minute rescue, but I was a step slower than Laxus."
Kira didn't even blink. He turned to Natsu and the others lying in the dirt. "Heh... you guys wouldn't even catch me? With 'friends' like you, who needs enemies? And you call yourselves my guildmates?"
Gray, face-down on the ground, groaned weakly, "You jerk... being your guildmate is a curse."
Kira turned around, greeting the others as if nothing happened. "Yo! Long time no see, Jura!"
Cold sweat dripped down Jura's bald head. "Heh... heh... indeed, long time no see..."
Erza looked at Kira. "Kira, what are you doing here?"
She knew immediately that Kira had crashed on purpose, but she chalked it up to typical guild roughhousing and ignored it. Besides, she wasn't the one who got hit.
Kira sighed dramatically. "Oh, don't ask. I didn't want to come, but Old Man Gran hugged my leg, snot and tears everywhere, crying and begging me to help. He said he couldn't do it without me. What choice did I have?"
Jura: "..."
Ichiya: "..."
Most of the people there were young and unaware of the changes in the Magic Council, except for Ivan. Only Jura and Ichiya knew who "Gran" (Gran Doma) actually was and his attitude toward Fairy Tail, so they were left speechless by Kira's story.
Kira continued bragging to Erza. "Oh, Old Man Gran is Gran Doma, the new Chairman of the Magic Council. Poor guy, he's so old he can't even stand up straight. He was kneeling on the ground, leaning on his cane, humbly begging me. I couldn't bear to see an elder like that, so I reluctantly agreed to lead the Council unit here to arrest people."
"Sigh, I'm just too kind. Being this nice is going to cost me someday!"
"..."
Hearing this, everyone looked even more skeptical.
Erza nodded, smiling at Kira. "I see. I had no idea that happened. Thank you for your hard work!"
Everyone else froze, looking at each other in disbelief: She actually bought that?!
Kira laughed loudly. "Bwahahaha!! Where are the 'Oración Seis'? Kira is here to take them down!"
Happy flew over. "Laxus already beat them all!"
"Say what?!"
Kira looked back and sure enough, saw the members of the Oración Seis lying on the ground. However, they had only been knocked down by Laxus's punch; they weren't unconscious yet, just rubbing the fist marks on their faces.
"Hey, they aren't totally down yet! By the way, Laxus, what are you doing here?"
Laxus snorted coldly and ignored him.
Luckily, Happy filled him in. "Yadda yadda yadda... and so on and so forth..."
Kira slapped his forehead. "Oh, I get it! The minions got beat up, so the boss came to take revenge!"
Feeling Kira's gaze, Laxus glared at him. "They're mine. Stay out of my way, or I'll beat you into the ground with them!"
The showdown they promised earlier hadn't happened yet, after all.
"Relax!" Kira said. "I'm mostly here to arrest Jellal anyway!"
Everyone turned to look at Jellal. Although he was technically on the same side as the Oración Seis, he had been acting like a bystander the whole time.
"Unfortunately for you, Kira Hopelett, I no longer have any interest in you."
Kira: ??
"What are you acting all cool for? Did the seawater rot your brain? You were the one who got absolutely wrecked last time! People might misunderstand and think I was the one who lost! How can you say that with a straight face?"
Hearing this, Natsu and Happy covered their mouths, snickering. "Pfft—!"
Jellal's Rage +1...
"Um... I'm sorry, but could you... could you please let Jellal go..."
A tiny voice came from behind them. Everyone turned in surprise to see Wendy, who had been hiding behind them the whole time.
Carla, the white cat who came from the same place as Happy, shouted, "Wendy?! What kind of nonsense is that?!"
The little girl lowered her head, face flushed red, fingers twiddling nervously. "I'm sorry... but... but Jellal is the person who saved me... so..."
Everyone looked at Jellal in surprise, but his expression remained blank. Only the slight flicker of astonishment in his eyes—which Erza caught—betrayed that he was just as confused.
Erza turned back to Wendy. "You said he saved you? What do you mean?"
Wendy stammered out the story of her past with "Jellal."
Seven years ago, when Grandeeney the Sky Dragon disappeared, she was all alone. Jellal appeared, took care of her, and brought her to her current guild, Cait Shelter.
Hearing this, the Fairy Tail members instantly understood.
Lucy spoke up, "She's talking about Mystogan!"
Gray grabbed his hair, letting out a sigh of relief. "Definitely! The description, the personality, the way he talks—everything points to Mystogan!"
Wendy looked up, her big watery eyes full of confusion.
Erza walked over and patted Wendy's head gently. "Wendy, the person you're talking about..."
After a brief explanation, Wendy understood. She still found it hard to believe, but since everyone said so—and these big brothers and sisters looked so kind and cool—they surely wouldn't lie to her!
After being promised she would be taken to see him later, Wendy finally accepted it and stepped back shyly.
But after two steps, she ran back. "Um... if you don't mind, please let me heal everyone!"
Not wanting to hurt her feelings, Natsu stepped forward with rare gentleness, patting Wendy's head. "That would be..."
BOOM!
Before he could finish his sentence, a blinding light erupted behind them!
Kira looked up at the pillar of black light in the distance and cut Natsu off. "Uh oh! That's not good!"
The evil aura enveloping the area and the dark matter oozing from the ground and trees made one fact undeniable: 'Nirvana' was active. Light and darkness were about to invert!
