What's the definition of peace?. Some would define it as a state of harmony, stability, and tranquility characterized by the absence of conflict, violence, or severe distress. I mean that's what Google said. But how does keima define peace?. Easy, waking up as the Western division champion with Tephnine by side. That's peace, and that's all that really matters to me.
Tephnine: (lightly tapping me) wake up sleepyhead.
Me: (yawning) I am babe. I am.
Tephnine: Good, now go shower and brush, the head chef would be bringing in breakfast.
Me: She do home delivery?.
Tephnine: (chuckling) Go shower
Me: Booooooo. Would you join me?.
Tephnine: Already showered, moreover I have to prepare the books we'll be using for our practise.
Me: Practise?.
Tephnine: Yeah, last night a certain someone promised to help me study
Me: (chuckling) Shit, Jensen did?.
Tephnine: Don't you dare
Me: (laughing) Prepare the books, lemme hurriedly shower
Tephnine: That's what I thought.
The shower was a quick ten-minute reset for my sore ribs, and by the time I walked out with a towel around my neck, the head chef had already laid out toasted bread, scrambled eggs, and tea on her small dining table. I'm telling yall, they treat Jensen and Teph way different from how they treat the rest of us . Riding on, we ate in comfortable silence, the kind where you don't need to force conversation just to fill the room.
Once the plates were cleared, I clicked my phone completely off. No group chats, no sports blogs, no notifications about "Starling's Wonderkid." Total dark mode.
By exactly 10:12 AM, we had Tephnine's notebooks, textbooks, and past questions spread out across the desk.
What followed was a seven-hour marathon of pure academic survival. I don't know who decided physics needed to be this complicated, but explaining electromagnetic induction and wave dynamics to someone who really wants to learn but by someone who'd rather be anywhere else takes a special kind of patience, capabilities and beauty, that's me if you couldn't tell. I ended up using basketball concepts to break down half the formulas, explaining force vectors through Jensen's driving angles and wave interference using court spacing. It was weird, completely unconventional, but somehow it worked. Now I don't wanna bore you guys with physics and shit so let's just skip a bit.
By 5:35 PM, Tephnine finally slammed her binder shut with a long, dramatic exhale.
Tephnine: (stretching her arms out) My brain is officially fried. If I see another vector diagram today, I might puke.
Me: (chuckling) Hey, you're the one who wanted to conquer the syllabus in one sitting. But you're good. You'll crush it tomorrow.
Tephnine: (looking at me) Thanks to my tutor. You don't look stressed.
Me: why should i be ?
Tephnine: Cause exams start tomorrow, and i know for a fact that you haven't done any preparation.
Me: Awwwn, she's worried about me.
Tephnine: Mtcheew, my mistake.
Me: (laughing) Don't worry about me that much babe. I'm a genius, I'm sure i'll figure somathing out tomorrow.
Tephnine: It's weird that that sounded so reassuring.
Me: It's cause you know I can.
Tephnine: I guess. And you know?... you could just spend the night here again. Save yourself the walk.
Me: (shaking my head) As much as I'd love to, I gotta head back to my dorm. Need to get my head right, face the idiots, and prep for the week ahead.
Tephnine: (smiling softly) Fine. But don't forget you still owe me a proper date once exams are over.
Me: I always remember. After exams we do something special. I love you
Tephnine: I love you too
I grabbed my jacket, gave her a quick kiss goodbye, and headed out into the cool evening air, ready to step back into the dorm madness. It's time i gave those guys their long awaited screen time.
Walking back to my dorm took a whooping 15 minutes of my life I'll never get back but who cares?, I'm already here. I'm sure they all missed me.
Me: (walking in) Hey guys.
Barry : Oh, kei. Welcome. So back to what I was saying, the moon landing is the biggest scam my country has ever put forward.
Kayode: what do you even mean by scam?.
Justin: so you believe the moon landing is real?
Kayode: yes!. Of course it's real
Barry: Typical Africans, we've washed your heads
Me: woah, what, what. Timeout. What kind of racist remark is that?.
Barry: uhh, I wasn't being racist
Me: yeah. And Neil Armstrong wasn't the first man on the moon
Justin: That's the thing, he wasn't
Me: yeahhh, that's true
Kayode: you also believe the moon landing was faked?.
Me: (scoffs) Fuck yeah. That's the biggest piece of dogs dogshit I've ever heard. Humans landing on the moon. Like come on.
Barry: Thank you
Kayode: Jesus. So let me get this straight, y'all believe we made cars, we made flying planes with choppers that can also fly, we made submarines that could go underwater. But for some reason you don't believe we landed on the moon.
Me: yes!. Bro this was 1969. Ain't no way they were capable of that.
Kayode: The first airplane was made it in 1903, so what's your point ?
Me: how many passengers did it carry?.
Kayode: uhhh
Me: dont uhh me. How many did it carry?
Kayode: 0 or 1. I'm not so sure anymore
Me: You see?
Kayode: That was the first model
Me: now when did they start carrying over 100 passengers.
Kayode: what's this question for?.
Me: just answer
Kayode: Around 1953
Me: A whooping 50 years later
Kayode: yeah duhh, what's your point.
Me: It took em 50 years to improve the shit those brothers invented and made it perfect or almost perfect. It's been 49 years since the first so-called moon landing, why haven't they attempted it again, our techs got even better so why haven't they?.
Barry: My point exactly
Kayode: it's not that easy
Me: Dont give me that crap, it is. They just can't cause we're way too smart to be falling for the shit out parents did.
Kayode: Talking to you guys reduces my brain cells. I'm done, believe what you wanna
Justin: or in other words, you don't have anything to counter kei's point.
Kayode: I have physics tomorrow, so I'll be going to the library. I can't have you guys reduce me to your levels.
Barry: Kei, you aren't gonna say anything about his racist remark.
Me: Racist?. You are dumb, same as me and Justin. He was just being honest.
Justin: (laughing) where exactly do you stand?.
Me: I stand on sleeping my pains all out.
Barry: Hmmm. Now that kayode is gone, mind sharing with us where you spent your night?, cause we know you didn't spend it at the party.
Me: NOYB
Barry: meaning
Me: None of your business you hungry, gist loving gossiper.
Justin: The crazy things you call people amuses me sometimes.
Me: Yeah whatever. Wait.. can i ask you guys something important?.
Barry: I guess?
Me: How do you suggest I go about this forthcoming arcs?
Barry: Arcs?.
Me: Yeah, we're currently in the tournament arc and now I have to deal with the exam arc too. I don't think my brain have that much narrating power.
Justin: so basically you're saying you don't know whether to concentrate on your exams or the finals.
Me: If you wish to simplify it, then it's that I guess
Barry: I think it all comes down to their level of importance. Focus on whichever one you feel is more important to you
Justin: Hopefully your exams. They are done solo. You'll always have the backing of your team in the finals.
Me: I don't think you guys understand what I'm trying to ask, but okay?... Thanks for the advice. Now I'm just gonna sleep
Barry: Yeah cool. Sleep tight.
My advisers have spoken, the Finals will have to wait. We'll be covering the exams arc. But first things first, I need to sleep. I'm above tired.
Exactly 3 minutes after I went off my tingtone brought ne back to reality. I wasn't gonna pick the call but the caller id read out "GOOD LOOKING IDIOT"..
Me: (grumbling) What is it Jensen?. Can't I have my beauty rest?.
Jensen: You weren't online so I had to call personally, coach needs us in the gym red right now.
Me: Tell him you couldn't connect with my number
Jensen: Get your lazy ass here in 5 or he's gonna send someone to drag you here
Me: I'd prefer that. I don't think my legs can do much walking
Jensen: Jesus!. How did i even meet you?.
Me: Awnnnn. Be there in 10.
Jensen: 6 tops
Me: 12 then. Love you, I'm hanging up
Jensen: Don't even da---
Sheesh, I dont have the capacity to train right now. The odds of me falling unconscious is sitting at a low 1.01. The walk to the gym felt like moses to the promise land, difference is i made it there but he didn't. Wait, wtf. What I'm trying to say is, the walk was hell, literally. I've never been this tired in my life.
Coach John: look who finally decided to join us
Me: sorry coach. Saw a helpless puppy on the way and I had t---
Coach John: --please shut it
Me: yes sir.
Coach John: Back to what I was saying, yesterday we officially became the Western division champions. Meaning, we officially got on track for the treble. That title was the first of our expected 3. This Saturday we'll be going for our second!, this Saturday we'll be playing one of the last few very important matches of our season!!. This Saturday we'll be winning the kings youth cup!!!
Team: (clapping and screaming)
Mahnn, bunch of monkeys i tell ya
Coach John: silence. Now, we'll be facing some issues. We are in exam week meaning no matter how much i want you guys to train i can't be selfish and jeopardise your futures. So we'll be taking votes, in the next five days we'll be training for two. 3:30pm to 7:30pm. I'll let you guys pick the two days.
Honestly, as long as we don't train today I really don't care for whatever day they pick. I'm cool.
So.... skipping the long ass conversation, after voting we picked Tuesday and Thursday with a light drill on Friday to keep us active for Saturday.
Coach John: That'll be all. Go prepare for tomorrow, I pray you all do well.
Team: Thank you coach!!.
I think it's time to fill y'all in on our paper schedule. You know how there're five major class in Starling, the Streaks, Gammas, Omegas, Betas, and the major dumbasses. In the five class, there're are four departments. Department of Science where Jensen and Tephnine belong. Department of Technology, where yours truly belong. Then the Department of Business and the Department of Arts, Languages and Literature.
I'm about to say something controversial so do forgive me, but if you're in the dept of Arts and ya still in Alpha or even Beta, you don't deserve to be in school. Go learn a trade or two. Arts is literally the easiest of all departments but whatever, who am i to judge?. Back to me. Our week was packed with death, here's the run through. Department of Technology. Monday: physics, E.L.A ( English Language Arts). Tuesday: Standard mathematics, civic or social studies. Wednesday: Chemistry. Thursday: Further Mathematics. Friday: computer studies, E.L.L (Extra language learning i.e French or Spanish or shit like that)
I hate my life, but something tells me I'll hate it more in this coming week.
