Light?
Was this a dragon of the Light attribute?
Looking at the tufts of pale gold fur on the dragon's body, Weston became even more convinced of AI-chan's analysis.
Since this dragon's magic was of the Light attribute, he would have to use Dark attribute magic to maximize his attack power!
"AI-chan, switch the combat skills to a mode dominated by Dark attribute magic!"
Beep beep—
"Adjusting skills for you!"
"Adjustment successful!"
Weston took a quick scan and found that the skills on the 'combat interface' were indeed vastly different from before. The most obvious change was that the skill icons were all dyed in shades of shadow.
"Rondo of Eternal Darkness?"
"Gravitational Pull of Eternal Darkness?"
"No, magic of this level is fine for fighting ordinary Wizards, but it's still too strenuous to use against a dragon!"
"AI-chan, help me find some other powerful Dark attribute magic!"
While Weston was fretting over which magic to use for the battle, the dragon across from him had also recovered from the previous explosion.
"Damnable human!"
It seemed to have been infuriated by Weston's earlier attack. After shaking its head violently, it suddenly spread its wings and soared high into the sky. After circling briefly, it dove straight toward Weston.
A dragon's collision was no small matter. Weston did not dare to test it lightly. He immediately used his will to turn the directional wheel on the Super Archive's operation interface, entering 'Flight Mode' as well.
BOOM—!!
Just as Weston left the ground, the dragon's massive body slammed heavily into the spot where he had been standing.
The violent impact made the entire valley seem to wail in pain.
The sea of trees in the distance swayed wildly like rolling waves, startling flocks of birds into flight as they fled the valley at top speed.
Closer by, the lake was affected by the shockwaves, sending dozens of water pillars exploding upward. The scattering water droplets refracted the sunlight into an ill-timed rainbow.
"Phew... luckily I dodged fast!"
"How was it? The taste of face-planting into the earth isn't pleasant, is it?!"
Weston was just breathing a sigh of relief when the dragon on the ground suddenly whipped its head around, fixing its gaze on him.
A second charge followed immediately!
"What?!"
Weston's expression changed drastically. He controlled his Wing Magic to accelerate his retreat, shifting the battlefield to the area above the lake.
Watching the dragon in relentless pursuit behind him, Weston couldn't help but click his tongue: "Completely unscathed? A dragon's defense really is no joke!"
This chase between man and dragon looked like a missile chasing a sparrow or a jet racing a Mercedes—tense and dangerous. However, Weston was neither a sparrow nor a Mercedes; he didn't clash head-on. He simply relied on his flexible movements to dodge the dragon's collisions, counterattacking with an endless stream of Dark attribute magic whenever he found an opening.
"Eternal Darkness Eradication!!"
"Dark Torrent!!"
Boom boom boom—
Weston used both hands, controlling various Dark attribute spells to continuously bombard the dragon behind him.
However, the dragon's means of counterattack were equally fierce.
Beams of golden magical energy, either as concentrated streams or light bullets, neutralized all of Weston's attacks.
In a pure contest of magic power, Weston was not yet a match for the dragon.
Suddenly!
"ROAR—!!"
The dragon let out a massive roar and stopped its pursuit. As if it had lost its patience, it turned and flew even higher into the sky.
It then opened its maw wide, inhaling the atmosphere.
Whoosh—
The terrifying suction caused a gale to whip up in the valley once more, and the dense clouds at the horizon were sucked inward.
Even the brilliant golden sunlight was being devoured by it.
The entire sky looked as though it had been covered by a black cloth, becoming as gloomy as deep water.
"Is this... a Roar?"
Weston recognized the attack the opponent was about to unleash at a glance. He couldn't help but break into a cold sweat: "If this hits, the entire valley will probably be destroyed, right??"
If it were just him around here, it wouldn't matter.
But there was still a group of soldiers in the valley whose fate was unknown, and his companions and the Council units were waiting for him outside.
Even if this dragon wasn't as powerful as Acnologia, no one could guarantee that these people wouldn't be caught in the crossfire if this Roar hit the ground.
Thinking of this, a fierce look appeared in Weston's eyes as he gritted his teeth.
"I have no choice but to use that move!"
"Ultimate Heavenly Body Magic: Starfall!"
Boundless magic power soared into the sky, tracing a magic circle a thousand meters in diameter across the firmament.
The runes on the magic circle spun and shot toward the depths of space, establishing a connection with a distant celestial body.
One second, two seconds...
Time slipped away in a suffocating standoff.
The light energy in the dragon's mouth had already condensed into a dazzling, blinding miniature sun. Its momentum increased with every passing second, its power becoming several times more terrifying than the moment before.
Meanwhile, Weston gazed at the pitch-black sky, patiently waiting for something to arrive.
Finally, in the black firmament where sunlight had been almost entirely devoured, a glimmer of light tore through the clouds and streaked across the sky.
"It's here!"
Weston's eyes lit up as he cried out in excitement.
"Striking second but arriving first."
"In this contest of attack speed, I win!"
The speck of light expanded rapidly, revealing its true form in the blink of an eye—
A meteorite hundreds of meters in diameter, trailing a crimson tail of fire, with a volume several times larger than the dragon!
WHOOSH—!!!
The wind pressure from the falling meteorite caused the atmosphere to cave in like a giant bowl, instantly trapping the dragon circling in the sky.
The dragon's body shuddered: "..."
Feeling the commotion coming from above its head, it fell into a deep silence.
What the hell is this thing?
Has human magic already reached this level?
What should it do now?
At this falling speed, it was too late to dodge. It only had two options: 'Attack' or 'Endure.'
So, should it strike the target above or the target below?
If it insisted on attacking the one below, would its body be able to withstand the impact of the falling meteorite?
For a moment, the Roar that was about to pour out became stuck in its throat.
However, time did not allow for careful thought, because the meteorite was going to crash into it in three seconds!
In a flash, the instinct for survival pushed the dragon to make the most correct and beneficial move for itself.
It whipped its head around, shifting the direction of the 'Roar.' The destructive energy instantly turned into a golden pillar of light that connected heaven and earth, erupting toward the falling meteorite!
"Damnable human, remember this!!"
RUMBLE—!!!
The pillar of light and the meteorite collided violently a thousand meters in the air. The blinding glare and terrifying heat energy swallowed the entire sky in an instant.
The golden pillar of light pierced through the meteorite from its base to its peak, tearing through the black cloth covering the sky until it vanished into the atmosphere. The shattered meteorite turned into a rain of fire pouring down, evaporating the lake into rolling clouds of white mist.
Weston watched the scene before him and couldn't help but comment.
"Yes, exactly..."
"A move like Starfall should be shattered by this kind of powerful magic!"
"Splitting it open with a sword or something is just too ridiculous!"
