Sighing, Ellis carefully let go of the box, sliding it to Alastair's side on the table with the key. It's not like secrets can be kept forever; it would have been revealed one day, just way later than this. Alastair was aware it was his men's fault for him being at the wrong place at the wrong time, so it might not be that bad for him. Didn't he even speak of compensation before? Though Ellis was sure that was just him bluffing.
Carrying the box, Alastair opened it swiftly, observing each of the objects inside. First picking up the earring and then the broken collar, he paused and glanced at him.
