"There are so many bugs here," Kai groaned, slapping at the air like he was auditioning for a kung fu movie.


"You complain like some rich kid who grew up inside a glass dome," Lance teased. "What, never been bitten by a mosquito before?"


"Huh? Of course I have!" Kai shot back. "I grew up in a completely normal family, okay? You've met my sister a million times."


"Yeah," Lance said thoughtfully. "Kylie is sweet, polite, and actually tolerable. Hard to believe you share the same bloodline. Maybe you're adopted."


Lance chuckled. "Well, yeah. I grew up in an orphanage, remember?"


"Wow, took you long enough," Lance smirked.


Kai ignored him and turned to me. "How about you, Emy? What's your family like?"


All of them looked at me—yes, even Ren.


Of course, he had asked about my parents and my younger sister before. He even wanted to visit them once.
