Eric collapsed on the couch. "I deserve a medal."


"We deserve a nap," Lance groaned. "We're never doing this kind of team building again. Never. Next time, I'll personally fund a luxury resort if money's what you're worried about."


Eric didn't even look up. "Hardship builds character."


Kai ran outside screaming about fresh air.


Ren leaned against the doorframe, watching him.


I stepped outside and I knew that he followed me.


The sky glowed orange. The lake shimmered.


Ren nodded. "Yeah . . . want to swim in the lake tomorrow?"


"That's actually a good idea! Let's all go tomorrow!" Lance said from behind us, clearly energized.


I jolted at the sudden sound of his voice.


Eric appeared right after him, nodding slightly like he'd already approved the plan in his head.
