Kinkaku: after a ninja dies, their Ninja Soul enters it. After a long time, it finds a suitable host to possess, granting them the power of a ninja.
The birth of Kinkaku is a power that transcends time. From the moment it appeared, it connected the past and the future, drawing in all Ninja Souls from the past—even those from the future.
Of course, there are exceptions, like Naraku Ninja, who never entered Kinkaku.
"Directly targeting Kinkaku? What utter madness!"
Naraku's Ninja Soul is one of the few capable of communication—even among Mythic-grade ninjas, this is exceedingly rare. After all, Ninja Souls that can exchange even a few words with their host are uncommon.
At Schwarzer's proposal to directly assault Kinkaku, Naraku let out a sigh, but his eyes burned with eager anticipation!
Destroying Kinkaku would mean the end of all ninjas. The mere thought had him thrilled to the point of raising his flag in excitement.
In the original story, such communication with Naraku would be impossible. It harbored hatred for ninjas, the world, and even itself.
A true evil spirit: kill the ninjas, kill the mortals too—as long as everything is slaughtered, there will be no more possessions! A so-called 'strategist' (lol)!
Schwarzer could persuade him because, from the moment of Naraku's birth, she had influenced him—a terrifying millennium-spanning scheme!
"Your Excellency proposes this; surely you have a plan in mind?"
Naraku could no longer suppress the excitement in his voice. He never imagined this possession would yield such rewards.
Not only had he reunited with Schwarzer, but he could now strike at Kinkaku. This was the closest he had come to truly exterminating ninjas in a millennium.
Amid Naraku's expectant gaze, Schwarzer produced a data chip.
"[Answer] The plan is already set. You can review the details with David."
It was 2076—high tech made data chips far more convenient than verbal explanations.
David inserted the chip and quickly absorbed the intel on Kinkaku, on The Lord and the Soga Ninja, and... on V.
David was stunned. A time-transcending Kinkaku, undying and eternal Ninja Souls, parallel worlds and alternate timelines... This was 2076, not 2776—parallel worlds were too advanced!
"This is all real?"
"[Affirmative] Intelligence confirmed authentic."
David's eye twitched. He glanced at the surrounding sea of fire and river of blood, choosing to believe. He had seen hell—what couldn't he accept?
"To strike at Kinkaku, the key is finding its location. Currently, only The Lord can locate it and desires to do so."
"Next comes the phase where the enemy is in the open and we are in the shadows, David."
Beneath Arasaka Tower, a cloned David's corpse was discarded. Schwarzer had mastered Yoroshi-san's cloning technology.
Soon, Saburo Arasaka announced David's death, claiming he had used the capture of Lucy as a pretext to meet him for an assassination attempt—but he had failed.
David's exploits were swiftly unearthed. Night City excelled at such tales; they loved dissecting legendary stories.
Lucy's true identity, concealed by Saburo Arasaka, remained unknown and irrelevant to them. Their frustration vented solely on David.
First, at the Afterlife, he dismantled a Militech elite squad of over a dozen—all equipped with Sandevistan—defeating them utterly.
That clash with Militech exposed his position, leading to a hellish five-kilometer siege by over ten thousand. Nearly five figures fell to David.
These were unadorned facts. Too many witnesses had seen it firsthand, many even experiencing 'air flight'—hurled like toys by David.
Then came the blockbuster: claiming the hundred-million-eurodollar bounty in plain view of all.
No details emerged on his assassination attempt against Saburo Arasaka, but this saga cemented David as Night City's most renowned legend.
"Has the corpse been examined? Any useful findings?"
In Arasaka's laboratory, David's body floated in a culture pod as researchers probed for exploitable tech.
A True Ninja—unseen for years. Saburo Arasaka sought data on fusions like Sandevistan and ninja power.
"No viable data yet. Ninja power appears tied to the spirit."
"David's Sandevistan integrates tightly with his body, but shows little difference from our Cyber Biochemical Ninja."
"Core data likely involves soul and will—corpse analysis yields little."
The researchers reported promptly: no breakthroughs.
Saburo Arasaka had anticipated this. David's Sandevistan had become part of his ninjutsu; extracting data was impossible.
"Dispose of it, then." Without soul or Karate, the body held no value.
The researcher hit the incinerate button; the pod retracted.
Lab computers confirmed: David's genes were normal, but Sandevistan fusion mirrored the Cyber Biochemical Ninja too closely.
Indeed—a forgery by Schwarzer using Yoroshi-san's tech. Saburo Arasaka couldn't parse the data anyway; Yoroshi-san personnel were already allies.
Leaving the lab, Saburo Arasaka sought Takemura. He cared little for the corpse, merely confirming David's death to sate his jealousy.
Now, two priorities: compel Lucy to use Death Ninja's power to safely extract his Ninja Soul, and—
"Time to strike Soukaiya, Takemura."
"Ninja power holds value only in my grasp."
Pawn Saburo Arasaka's eyes gleamed with 'Sin/Punishment.' His feeble Ninja Soul swayed under The Lord's jutsu.
Corp overlord wielding ninja might—Saburo's ambitions swelled anew. A mere nudge from The Lord, and he acted on his own!
Exploited ambition: Arasaka Tech versus Soukaiya war imminent.
