Obito was in a frenzy.
At his core, he had always been an extremist. Whether Rin lived or died—he would go to extremes for her.
Just like in Kai's previous life: the meek, honest ones often harbored a demon within.
Leave them be, and they could suppress it.
Push them too far, and you'd see—they could become worse than the darkest of villains.
That was Obito.
On the surface—gentle, kind, naïve.
But once driven past the edge? He would do anything.
And now—he had been pushed.
Rin was his taboo. Danzo's attempt to take her had dragged the darkest impulses out of him.
Forget keeping his Mangekyo a secret. He didn't care anymore.
In the blink of an eye—
seven Chunin and two Jounin fell, slain by his hand.
"Obito!" Kakashi shouted.
Even Kushina's heart skipped.
But faced with Rin being taken, she too couldn't restrain herself.
She had always been fiery—even back at the Academy, she was the school's number-one delinquent girl.
Years at Minato's side had mellowed her somewhat.
But now?
Now she snapped.
Her voice thundered:
"Obito—kill!
Kakashi—you too!
We can't hold back. We must save Rin!"
Her crimson eyes gleamed coldly.
And then—she unleashed more power.
Two more tails erupted behind her.
Six tails of the Nine-Tails' cloak billowed, violent chakra surging sky-high. Her eyes gleamed with growing bloodlust.
Kakashi hesitated.
But she was right. Rin was their comrade. Rin could not fall.
His expression hardened, his blade flashing.
Moments ago, he had pulled his strikes—these were Konoha shinobi, after all.
But now?
Now he cut with killing intent.
Obito too, though frenzied, sought his comrades' approval.
He was willing to risk his life for Rin—but he didn't want to be alone in it.
Hearing Kushina's roar, seeing Kakashi's ferocity—his eyes grew wet with gratitude.
He wasn't alone.
He had comrades who cared.
He had a Sensei's wife who protected him.
"Kill!" Obito bellowed.
This time, he didn't hold back.
With Kamui, no one could touch him.
His attacks may not have been overwhelming—but with such a broken power, even unpolished, he was unstoppable.
And he wasn't even trained by Madara yet!
Already he had half a White Zetsu body, capable of Wood Style.
Only Kai's interference had kept him from learning it yet.
Still—with him, Kakashi, and a half-transformed Kushina, the Root squads were obliterated.
But Danzo barely noticed his men dying.
His gaze locked on Obito.
"Another… Mangekyo?"
Impossible.
How?
Kai awakened his.
Then Shisui.
And now even Obito, the so-called dead last?
This was insane.
And in that moment—a kunai spun through the air.
Engraved with a three-pronged mark.
The Blade of Ninja Love.
The Flying Thunder God.
Danzo's heart went cold.
Minato… was back.
And indeed, before he could react, Minato appeared beside Rin.
In one motion, he caught the kunai—and hurled it straight at Danzo.
Danzo didn't dare catch it. He knew what that meant.
He dodged—
And Minato's hand caught Rin, pulling her behind him.
"Rasengan!"
His palm flashed blue. The spiraling sphere smashed straight into Danzo's chest.
Boom!
Caught off guard, Danzo spat blood, flung through the air.
Three seconds later—he crashed through a wooden house, rubble scattering.
Staggering up, he glared coldly at Minato.
He had failed.
Minato was back.
Rin was safe.
Between Kushina's rampage and Obito's Mangekyo… he couldn't retake her.
Breathing deep, he forced his tone steady.
"Minato. Well done.
You dare lay hands on a Konoha elder.
Does your family know no respect?
Do you really think you can protect the Three-Tails on your own?
Naïve.
Only I—Danzo—can safeguard Rin.
If you don't hand her over, Hiruzen will give the Three-Tails to Hidden Blood Mist Village.
That is my warning.
When you finally understand—come find me.
Goodbye."
He straightened his clothes, gestured to his remaining Root.
They turned, walking away, not even retrieving their fallen.
Expendables—nothing more.
And Danzo himself? He felt no fear. He was an elder of Konoha. Who would dare touch him?
And indeed—none did.
Minato and Kushina frowned, but stayed still.
Only Obito trembled, rage burning.
He wanted to kill Danzo then and there.
But Kakashi stopped him.
"Obito, don't. He's a Konoha elder."
"Yes, Obito," Rin added quickly, her voice soft.
"Let's listen to sensei.
I'm fine now, aren't I?
We can trust him—he'll never let harm come to us. Right?
And thank you—for fighting so hard to save me."
Her smile was gentle. Obito's rage wavered.
