It was too sudden, even Himura Kagome, a girl quite skilled at swimming, flailed helplessly on the dark water, let alone Big Dog, who didn't much care for water. Though not panicked, he choked on a few gulps initially and then awkwardly dog-paddled in the water, albeit not very gracefully.
Perhaps only Sesshomaru, the noble young master, remained immaculate, easily dodging the sweeping attack from the front, never even pausing and swiftly moving forward.
He directly bypassed Inuyasha's group, who had fallen into the water, not even glancing at their embarrassing struggle, crossing over as if he hadn't seen it... just pausing momentarily, casting a fierce glance at his underachieving brother, perhaps contemplating whether to deliver a blow to the waterlogged Big Dog.
Maybe holding a terrifying thought of "letting him drown here, preserving the clan's honor," it's hard to say...
