The banquet was held in the main hall of the Greeting Castle. As the Duke passed through three silver-embossed arches with his attendant, the hall had already come alive.
This main hall was larger than he had imagined. The dome was a whole sheet of wing patterns woven from fine silver threads, layered upon each other, draping down from the highest point to the walls, as if the entire hall was gathered under a silver wing.
There were over a dozen long tables in the hall, covered with thick dark blue velvet, with candelabras made entirely of twisted silver branches, burning with pale blue flames.
Quite a few guests had already arrived, men and women alike, dressed in varied attire, clearly not from the same continent.
The Duke glanced around but recognized few people.
