The scorching sun couldn't stop farmers from working with their faces to the soil and backs to the sky, sweat pouring out.
Wen's mother returned home in the evening, dusty and tired, washed her hands and face, and prepared to cook. Upon entering the house, she found that Yi Chichi had already made the meal.
Chichi even brought out a bowl of cooled tomato and egg soup.
"Didn't I say I would cook when I got back?"
"I didn't feel like working today, so I cooked to improve our meals a bit."
Placing the soup bowl on the table, she asked, "Mom, have grandpa and the others come back?"
"They're back!"
As soon as Wen's mother heard this, she knew what Chichi intended to do. She ignored her own meal and entered the kitchen with her daughter, "Did you pack all the food for them?"
"Yes!"
I made quite a large amount, with two steamers full of steamed buns, "Mom, could you help me pick out twenty buns?"
"Okay."
