The Calm Before
The storm had ended.
But in the Himalayas, silence was never peace — it was the breath before eruption.
Ishita stood at the edge of the glacier, her scarlet aura faint and trembling.
The training ground had turned into a graveyard of shattered ice, still glowing from yesterday's battle.
She hadn't slept.
Every time she closed her eyes, the whispers returned — voices of the fallen, echoing through her aura.
Their words were unclear… but their pain was real.
> "Why me…?" she murmured. "Why does the Scarlet keep screaming?"
From the distance, Li Wei approached, his steps leaving glowing blue footprints that melted into the snow.
> "Because it remembers what you fear," he said.
"And what you've lost."
She turned, exhausted but determined.
> "Then today… I'll make it listen."
Li Wei's expression didn't change.
> "Then today, we see if the Scarlet chooses you."
He gestured. The snow around them rippled, rising into the air as if gravity itself bowed to his aura.
The world dimmed — sky shifting from gold to storm-gray.
> "No forms. No limits," he said.
"Fight until your heart finds silence."
---
The Clash
The first strike came from Ishita.
A scarlet shockwave ripped through the valley, carving through the snow like liquid fire.
Li Wei vanished, reappearing behind her in a shimmer of blue.
She spun midair, aura bursting around her like wings.
They collided — crimson and azure light spiraling upward, forming a cyclone that swallowed the peak.
BOOM!
The shock split the clouds.
Lightning flashed red and blue across the frozen horizon.
Li Wei's voice echoed over the roar.
> "You're forcing it again! Let it breathe!"
> "If I let go, it'll destroy everything!" Ishita shouted back.
> "That's the lesson," he said sharply. "To control destruction, you must face it!"
She gritted her teeth, aura cracking around her like glass about to shatter.
The snow melted to steam beneath her.
Then — she screamed.
> "SCARLET PULSE—!!"
The mountain exploded in light.
Crimson energy surged from her body, scattering across miles of ice.
For a moment, Li Wei's barrier barely held. His eyes widened — she wasn't channeling aura anymore.
She was aura.
---
The Cataclysm Beam
Li Wei tried to stabilize the resonance, but the energy inside her spiraled out of control.
Her heartbeat was now thunder, shaking the mountain.
> "No… Ishita! Stop!"
But she couldn't hear him.
Her eyes glowed blood-red, her voice breaking through the storm.
> "I won't lose anyone again!"
The ground cracked open.
Crimson light erupted from her palms — a column of raw energy piercing the heavens.
SCARLET CATACLYSM BEAM!
The beam ripped through the glacier —
Entire ridges disintegrated into ash.
The shockwave flattened mountains, vaporized ice, and turned snow to glass.
The sky split open, streaked with red lightning that reached the clouds.
Li Wei raised both arms, forming twin circles of blue aura — a desperate barrier.
The force hit him like a god's fist, dragging lines of blood down his cheek.
When it finally ended — silence.
The once-endless glacier was gone.
Only blackened rock and drifting ash remained, stretching for miles.
Ishita collapsed to her knees, gasping, aura fading.
Her body trembled, eyes wide in disbelief.
> "I… did that?"
Li Wei slowly lowered his arms, panting faintly.
The wind carried ashes past them like falling snow.
He walked toward her, voice calm but filled with awe.
> "You didn't destroy the glacier…"
"You converted it. Solid to dust. Matter to aura."
He knelt before her, studying her flickering scarlet glow.
> "You are entering the Scarlet Awakening."
---
The Awakening
Ishita looked up, dazed. "What… is that?"
Li Wei's eyes softened — part fear, part pride.
> "It's the phase where aura stops obeying physics.
When emotion and energy become one."
He helped her stand.
> "But it comes at a cost. The Scarlet remembers every pain that fuels it.
If you fall into despair, you'll burn everything — including yourself."
She looked at her hands, still trembling with residual crimson.
> "Then I'll learn to burn without breaking."
Li Wei smiled faintly, proud but cautious.
> "Spoken like one ready for the next step."
The wind picked up again, howling through the dead valley — carrying faint echoes, voices neither of them could see.
Li Wei turned sharply, sensing something beyond the mountain's edge.
The snow below rippled — shadows crawling underneath the ice.
> "They felt it," he whispered. "The Demons… they know the Scarlet has awakened."
Ishita's eyes hardened.
> "Then let them come."
---
Aftermath
The two stood together on the blackened ridge — student and master, surrounded by the ghosts of a fallen glacier.
The red light of the dying sun bathed the valley like spilled blood.
For a brief moment, the world seemed to hold its breath.
Li Wei spoke softly, almost reverently.
> "You are no longer learning to control the Scarlet, Ishita.
Now, it learns to understand you."
He turned away, voice lowering.
> "Tomorrow… will be our final spar."
