Chapter 139 - The Price of Help

Help always comes with a receipt.

It's just that most people don't read it until the ink starts bleeding through their hands.

Morning arrived wrapped in quiet efficiency. Too quiet. The kind of quiet that only appears after someone else has already done the hard work of arranging the noise.

The benches were set before sunrise.

Water stacked neatly, labels facing outward.

A temporary canopy stretched across the clinic street, perfectly angled against the glare.

No logos.

No announcements.

No signatures.

Arjun stared at it like it might blink.

"They're early."

"Yes," I said.

"And deliberate."

The girl touched the edge of the canopy.

"This wasn't here last night."

"No," Aaryan replied.

"And no one asked for it."

People accepted it anyway.

That was the part that always happened faster than expected.
