Chapter 164 - Coach, I Want to Learn Basketball (Crossed Out) Magic

Now that the matter was settled, he could take care of some personal business.

Looking at the trio of police officers before him, Andrew once again remembered something he'd thought of while chatting with Jane earlier.

With his friends in such a dangerous profession, he really should give them some items to help them stay alive.

And as it happened, these most basic items were gradually becoming less scarce.

To avoid forgetting later, Andrew pulled three Healing Potions, five Nullberries, and five Antidote Herbs from his item pouch and stuffed them all directly into Jane's hands.

"The Antidote Herbs and Nullberries are pretty self-explanatory, but the main thing is this potion."

Andrew explained to the three of them:

"This is a potion that can heal injuries. If you're seriously hurt, drink one. It works instantly and has no side effects."

Then, he took out two more identical sets of potions and fruits and placed them in Zhu Yuan's and Qingyi's hands, respectively.

"These are for you. Though, whether they'll work on Qingyi, who's a puppet... I can't say for sure."

"I appreciate it. Regardless, I will remember the help you've given us, Andrew."

Qingyi, who had seen her fair share of turmoil, didn't refuse, simply committing this act of kindness to memory.

But unlike Jane and Qingyi, Zhu Yuan, knowing Andrew's items were far from simple, was a bit hesitant to accept.

Yet, when she considered that accepting them was practically giving a police officer an extra life on a future mission, Zhu Yuan couldn't bring herself to say no.

Seeing her expression, Andrew knew exactly what she was thinking and said:

"Don't worry, take them. I'll have a new harvest tomorrow, so I'll have plenty."

Before she could hesitate further, Andrew forcefully pressed them into her hands and said with a serious expression:

"But if you want to get more, you have to agree to one condition."

"Name it. As long as it doesn't violate my principles, I won't refuse."

Seeing Zhu Yuan's solemn expression, Andrew smiled and said:

"You have to promise me that no matter what happens, you'll always keep one set for yourselves."

After all, the whole point was to protect the people he knew. If someone used their authority to seize the items for personal gain, it would defeat the entire purpose.

What kind of condition was that?

Realizing that Andrew's generosity and his request were both for their safety, Zhu Yuan ultimately just nodded solemnly.

"I understand. I'll pass it on to Zhu Yuan and Qingyi."

Seeing Jane's serious expression, Andrew nodded in satisfaction.

"Is this potion's effect really that miraculous?"

Yixuan, who had been examining the surroundings, had approached when Zhu Yuan said things were a bit strange. She patiently waited for Andrew to finish his instructions before asking curiously.

Hearing this, Andrew turned and noticed the white-haired woman he hadn't paid much attention to before, now carefully observing the bottled Healing Potion.

Looking at her very unique attire, Andrew asked Jane in a hushed, puzzled voice:

"When your Public Security squad goes out on a call, do you need to bring a Taoist priest now?"

At this, Zhu Yuan was momentarily speechless.

I mean, whose first reaction is that?

However, Jane, having experienced Andrew's off-the-wall personality in the outer ring before, just gave him a slightly exasperated eye-roll and immediately introduced her:

"This is the current head of Yunkui Summit, Grandmaster Yixuan, who also holds the title of Grandmaster. Public Security absolutely does not assign Taoist priests to squads."

"Yunkui Summit?"

He felt like he'd heard that name recently.

Taoist robes...

Suddenly, a recent memory resurfaced, and Andrew remembered where he'd heard it from.

It was that place Belle mentioned, where you can learn magic!

Before, he'd been frustrated that he had no time to go and no idea where to even start looking.

And today he just ran into her?!

And she's the head of the school!!

With that thought, Andrew unhesitatingly grabbed Yixuan's hands while she was still a bit bewildered and said earnestly:

"Coach, I want to play basketball... no, wait, Master, I want to learn magic!"

"Uh... huh?"

Yixuan, who had just been examining Andrew's potion, stared blankly at him, completely thrown by his sudden move.

Glancing at the wreckage scattered around, Yixuan said with some confusion:

"Based on my observations of the area, you already possess a complete system of abilities. Logically speaking, learning this would be like learning a completely different system. It shouldn't be of much use to you."

Recalling the wreckage of Typhon she had seen, it was clearly destroyed by a single shot straight through the chest. The subsequent attack to its head could only be described as beating a dead horse.

Compared to flashy, ordinary magic, with your level of strength, isn't overwhelming force more direct?

At least, Yixuan had rarely seen someone with a complete skillset who still coveted other techniques.

After all, it's never wise to bite off more than you can chew.

But Andrew had no intention of giving up and immediately insisted:

"No, no, no, it's different! You don't understand the blood and tears of a pure warrior!"

"Hmm..."

Although she didn't quite understand what Andrew was so insistent about, Yunkui Summit wasn't a closed-off school.

It had always followed the principle of teaching all comers without discrimination, never turning away anyone who sincerely wished to learn.

However, there was another reason for her earlier hesitation that Yixuan hadn't voiced...

From her observations, Andrew's overall strength was likely no less than her own.

Now that he was holding her hands, the feeling was even more pronounced.

The strength of her own physical body felt like it was in a different dimension compared to Andrew's.

If an ordinary person was plastic, Yixuan was steel.

But Andrew was vibranium.

In a real fight, although she could rely on her magic to avoid physical confrontation as much as possible, it was like a late-game AD carry kiting a squishy target in a MOBA.

It's fine as long as you don't get caught before the enemy is dead.

But if she made one mistake and got caught, well, there's no need to describe how brutal the scene would be.

Those who know, know.

But if you added the healing potions Andrew had just produced, Yixuan felt her chances of winning would plummet.

The effects of these items were so powerful they were terrifying.

Unlike the ease she felt when others called her master, being called that by a man who looked about her age and had comparable strength felt a bit strange.

However, after learning of Andrew's inhuman physical constitution, Yixuan was already starting to look forward to what a disgustingly overpowered existence he would become if he actually learned magic.

So, Yixuan spoke:

"You don't have to call me master. But, I agree to teach you magic. Whether you succeed or not will depend on your own insight and talent."

But as for whether to give Andrew a title within Yunkui Summit, Yixuan was in a bit of a bind. After a moment's thought, she continued:

"As for giving you a title in Yunkui Summit... let me think on it. After all, with your strength, you don't need my protection."

Andrew, who just wanted to learn, wasn't picky at all. Seeing Yixuan agree, he let go of her hands, completely satisfied.

After the two added each other as contacts on Knock-Knock, Yixuan handed Andrew two books titled Five-Year Gaokao, Three-Year Simulation and A Fool's Guide to Perceiving Active Frequencies and said:

"Read these for now. When I have some free time later, I'll find a moment to help you personally experience the specific perception methods. Some things can only be mastered through experience."

As he accepted the two books, Andrew's apprenticeship, successful or not, had taken its first step.

---

Although she had been sidetracked, it didn't stop Yixuan from pursuing her original reason for wanting to meet Andrew.

She once again gestured to the Antidote Herbs, fruits, and potions Andrew had given Jane earlier and said:

"Andrew, have you considered selling these special fruits you grow?"

Yixuan's words made Andrew pause and think. It was a good reminder.

After all, while his current cultivation area was only enough to supply himself and a few people around him, as he expanded it, he would inevitably have a surplus of consumables.

These were still plants. Although their shelf life was much longer than normal fruits, they couldn't be stored for a year or two.

They would eventually rot if left for too long.

If that happened, it would be a complete waste.

Selling the surplus, just as Yixuan suggested, was indeed a suitable idea, and it would also help supplement his income.

Ultimately, it came back to the same problem: the number of people he had to support had jumped from just himself to thirteen.

For now, just providing meals was manageable. But once they all started developing their own ideas like Anby, the expenses would become enormous.

This time, because the weapon Anby needed suited his profession, Andrew could make it himself.

But next time, if Number One and Number Two wanted to take up painting or some other hobby, he wouldn't be able to cut corners.

So, in response to Yixuan's question, Andrew replied:

"My current cultivation output is still low. Once I scale up and have a surplus, I'll consider selling them."

Hearing this, Yixuan's eyes immediately lit up.

Her Ju Fufu, whom she had raised since childhood, had recently become obsessed with acting as a vigilante, thinking about going out to punish evil and do good every day, constantly bouncing around the temple.

And it was almost time to allow her to go down the mountain for her first solo training journey.

If she had Andrew's items to protect her, her safety would surely be greatly enhanced.

After all, even though she'd be following from a distance, it's always better to be safe than sorry.

So Yixuan immediately said:

"Then be sure to contact me when you're ready to sell. As long as the price is right, Yunkui Summit will be a regular customer."

However, Andrew didn't rush to agree.

After quickly calculating the number of crops that would mature tomorrow, Andrew looked up and said:

"As it happens, I have a batch harvesting tomorrow. Barring any surprises, I can give you some then. After all, you're teaching me magic."

Andrew had a very favorable impression of Yixuan, who was willing to teach him magic without any conditions.

If she had proposed an exchange—teaching magic for the items—no one would have found it strange. In fact, that would have been the normal way of doing things.

But Yixuan chose to keep the two matters separate.

Regardless of whether Andrew was willing to sell, she was willing to teach him without reservation. This made Andrew's impression of Yunkui Summit improve considerably as well.

After all, with a leader like Yixuan, the people in the school couldn't be that bad.

So, Andrew felt it was perfectly fine to give them some of the fruits he grew.

Yixuan was also taken aback. She had expected to wait a long time for a reply but didn't think it would be so soon.

But she didn't agree with Andrew's offer to just give them away.

"That's wonderful, but we must pay for them. Don't try to refuse."

Just as Andrew was about to say something, Yixuan stopped him with a raised hand and a serious expression.

"This isn't for me, but for Yunkui Summit. So no matter what, the payment must be made."

Then, a smile returned to Yixuan's face, and she chuckled lightly, saying:

"Since it's for Yunkui Summit, then the mayor, as a partner of Yunkui Summit…"

Yixuan's dark yellow eyes narrowed slightly, revealing a hint of cunning befitting her age.

"For such essential supplies, I'm sure the mayor wouldn't mind reimbursing us."

The moment Yixuan said that, Andrew understood.

So, there was reimbursement, and he would be earning money from that old fox, the mayor.

Never mind then.

Instantly, all his hesitation vanished.

Andrew was already starting to calculate a price that was both reasonable and could fleece the mayor for as much as possible.

With that, the business here was completely settled.

The enemy was defeated, and having also achieved her other goal, Yixuan didn't linger any longer. She said:

"In that case, I'll be on my way. I left in a hurry earlier and haven't had a chance to pack up my fortune-telling stall on the roadside."

Yixuan pinched her fingers together in a divinatory gesture, her brow furrowing slightly.

"According to my divination, if I delay any longer, my stall is at risk of being lost. Yunkui Summit is currently short on funds. This is a serious matter and cannot be delayed."

"Is... is that so... Well, that certainly is a matter of great importance…"

Yunkui Summit is such a large sect; surely their main income isn't from telling fortunes, right?

Using this method for daily income...

This cultivation sect called Yunkui Summit, maybe... perhaps... possibly... could there be something a little off about it?

But after seeing Yixuan spread a pair of wings and fly away, Andrew instantly threw all his strange thoughts to the back of his mind.

Learn it!

I have to f*cking learn it!

There's no way that's fake!

Meanwhile, Zhu Yuan prepared to take Ryza back to the police station, and Qingyi went to scout the surroundings, leaving Jane behind to guard the scene and wait for the main team to arrive to inspect and collect evidence.

As for Jane?

With Andrew's help, the mission was a perfect success. Relieved, she gave a small wave goodbye and silently disappeared.

As an undercover agent, it was already a great risk for Jane to stand so brazenly in the open for so long. It was time to return to the shadows and continue her duties.

After all, in New Eridu, there was more than just the Vanishing Wolves.
