The central operations room of Midnight Mayhem buzzed with quiet energy, lit by the faint blue glow of the holographic map hovering above the table. Pamela stood at the head, her arms folded as Gotham City rotated in midair between them—districts, crime routes, and strongholds expressed in digital light. Barbara, Harley, and Kira Strix gathered close, their reflections shifting across the glass floor.
Pamela leaned forward slightly. "Barbara, your father's the police chief. Why don't you give us a rundown on Carmine Falcone—his hobbies, habits, operations… everything you know."
Barbara nodded and swiped through the holographic data, police files and city blueprints scrolling before her eyes. "Carmine Falcone, also known as 'The Roman,' is Gotham's oldest surviving mafia boss. He inherited control of the Falcone Crime Family from his father, and for decades, he's ruled Gotham's underworld with money laundering, drug trafficking, illegal gambling, smuggling, and political corruption. He owns half the city's judges, most of the D.A. offices, and uses his construction fronts for extortion and city contracts. His reach even extends into Gotham's dockyards and financial district."
She zoomed in on the city's waterfront. "Falcone's main legitimate businesses include construction companies, waste management, and luxury imports. But behind the scenes, his money comes from narcotics, weapons, and high-end trafficking. He's ruthless but old-fashioned. He doesn't trust metahumans or people like us. He sees us as freaks—competition that doesn't belong in his Gotham."
Pamela studied the projection, her expression unreadable. "So he's a relic trying to keep his empire afloat."
Barbara nodded. "Exactly. He's desperate to hold on to power now that the costumed crowd has taken over Gotham's crime scene."
Harley leaned over the table, resting her chin on her hands. "So, we gotta take down a criminal mob boss."
Barbara gave a firm nod. "Essentially, yes. But instead of a full-scale war, we'll replace his infrastructure from the inside. Kira, you'll need to prepare your people."
Kira stepped forward, her boots clicking against the floor. "I can have a few of my subordinates infiltrate Falcone's ranks. Once Barbara gives me the police intelligence files she has from her father, I'll know exactly where to hit him—his supply routes, his enforcers, his accountants. We can gut his organization in a week."
Pamela tilted her head slightly. "Your father doesn't question why you keep browsing those intelligence reports, does he?"
Barbara smiled faintly. "Yeah, about that…" She closed the files and looked between them. "We might have to postpone this little mob war."
Pamela frowned. "Why?"
Barbara rubbed the back of her neck, looking sheepish. "Remember that phone call with my dad and mom the other night?"
Pamela nodded. "Yeah, what about it?"
Barbara took a slow breath. "My dad wants you to come over for dinner. Apparently, it's time for you to meet the family."
Pamela froze, her eyes going wide. "Wait—you mean I'm actually meeting your mom? Oh my God, I need to get a gift. Flowers, chocolates—something elegant!"
Barbara grinned, clearly enjoying her reaction. "Also… my mom's been asking about that promise we made. About grandkids."
Pamela's face turned bright red. "G-Grandkids?!"
Barbara's tone was playful. "You did say you would look into biological options. I've been researching it—there are magical and scientific precedents for women having children together."
Pamela's blush deepened until she swayed on her feet and fainted collapsing backwards.
Kira moved quickly, catching her under the arms. "Are you okay, boss?"
Pamela blinked weakly, reaching for the glass of water Kira handed her. "You're overwhelming me, Barbara. I can't even think about taking over Gotham when I'm supposed to be giving your parents grandchildren!"
Harley tilted her head curiously. "What's your mom's name anyway?"
Barbara adjusted her glasses. "Kimberly. Kimberly Gordon."
Harley frowned in thought. "I have never met her. She's kinda mysterious, huh?"
Barbara nodded slowly. "Yeah. She's reclusive. I don't even know much about her background—just that she's involved in international business. She's… intense."
Pamela's breathing steadied, her tone softening. "Your dad's lucky to have met someone like that. She raised a genius like you."
Barbara smiled faintly. "Sweet talk won't save you, Pam. You're still coming to dinner tomorrow night—and don't forget a gift."
