Chapter 34: Cold Revenge

I had been looking for her all day.
Not because I wanted to see her. Not because the memory of yesterday had been burning in my head—her back against the wall, lips parted, body arching under my hand as I made her come apart. No. That was nothing. A slip. A moment of weakness I had already buried. At that was what I tried to tell myself.
I was looking for her because she owed me. The portrait she broke when she first came to the Blackwood mansion with the principal—that debt wasn't paid. She had agreed to be my assistant. My slave, in all but name. Run my errands. Be at my call or had she forgotten.
I hadn't enforced it yet. But today, I needed something done. Notes organized. Books retrieved. Simple tasks. And a reminder that she belonged to me until the debt was cleared. I followed her scent and found her in the training ground instead.
