Chapter 43 - Gard's Gifts (2)

Luck was stunned silent.

It was understandable, though. A mere low awakener like himself had no business wielding Epic class skills.

Luck was starting to understand why his dad held the dwarf in such high esteem.

(For him to be able to pass on skills, he must be at least at Karma rank.) I accept.)

Luck didn't even pause from his previous thought, instantly accepting.

Who wouldn't? Only a madman would.

And Luck was no such thing.

His grimoire dinged as a flood of information washed over him, causing him to smile slightly with satisfaction.

With glee, he began to appraise the armors that he had collected in his shadow.

He felt his heart jump for joy with each one he appraised. Not because of their quality, of course. Just by the sheer number of them.

He only became happier when his appraisal increased in proficiency.

*Boom**Boom**Boom*...

The ground began to shake with measured violence, cutting him off from his pleasant thoughts and making him look towards the blacksmith's workroom.

Gard sauntered out of the smithy. He was not alone, though. Two hulking monstrosities of metallic machinery strode behind.

Luck stood wide-eyed as he activated Appraisal subconsciously. It was slowly becoming a habit.

A moment passed as one of the figures turned its head to face him. Almost immediately, it turned back, seemingly having lost interest.

It was only then that he heard the familiar ring of his grimoire.

A bead of sweat rolled off Luck's face. (Dafuck!)

If the Gard had these mechanical juggernauts, he might have to start buying his equipment online.

(Or better yet, I could just make them myself.)

To put it in simple terms, Luck was not even supposed to be in the same room as these powerhouses who could accidentally kill a pat.

Sure, he lived with two Saints, but those were his parents. These two, on the other hand, although not of the same rank as his, still gave off the same pressure.

He wasn't sure of Gard's rank either. He seemed to be consciously suppressing his aura.

Seeing him staring at the mechanical monsters, Gard grinned. Luck only matched his with a nervous smile.

"Don't worry, they don't attack unless they have to."

(Ya don't say.) Luck thought as he chuckled nervously. His fate was in the hands of someone who was almost caught in depression because people didn't appreciate his work.

His brain ran through several escape plans as he stared at the dwarven blacksmith.

Unfortunately, he wasn't too sure any of them would work out.

Fortunately for him, though, Gard seemed to be of a stable mind.

Luck watched as the two golems placed down the items he requested.

Of course, Luck activated appraisal.

Luck couldn't help his lips from curling up into a smile

These pieces of equipment were all of the Unique rank. Unique rank items were not something you see every day. They marked the turning point in a blacksmith's career. This was when gear started to gain its 'individuality'.

Any other Low awakener might have paled or just outright fainted, but Luck's mind stood strong.

A thought passed over Luck's head, making him glance at the red-haired dwarf. (If he can give Unique rank gear out just like that, then what exactly is this man's limit?)

Luck's impression of the blacksmith suddenly went up a notch.

As if sensing the awe in his eyes, Gard smiled smugly. You must have noticed by now. All these gears 're Unique items."

Luck grinned, "Come on out, guys. Your Christmas gifts came early this year."

*Voooooommmm*

Freya and Asher appeared, along with a giant fist that arrived in front of them in an instant.

Luck's eyes widened as he immediately screamed, "Summons."

Unfortunately for him, though, a mere Low awakener could never compare in speed with a Titan, so he already knew it was too late before he could even process his thoughts.

Surprisingly, the gigantic fist managed to stop itself mere inches away from them.

Luck looked at Gard with a befuddled expression, making the dwarf sigh.

"You're lucky I told Greg to pull his punch so he wouldn't destroy the shop, unless your summons would have already been bone paste before he even throws the punch.

Luck said nothing. He believed the blacksmith. He was familiar with the destructive powers of High rankers, so he knew he wasn't bluffing.

Unfortunately, though, just because the mechanical creature held back did not mean that Asher and Freya were unscathed.

Both were riddled with ghastly cracks and were on the verge of collapse.

(And the punch didn't even touch them.)

Gard suddenly coughed in an awkward manner as he walked over to the two skeletons.

"Sorry bout that." He said sheepishly as a vial of red liquid appeared in his palm, which he then sprinkled onto the two named creatures. "Next time, why don't you inform me before you do anything. Would save us a lot of trouble.

Their injuries healed instantly, shocking Luck at the astonishing speed. In fact, he might have missed it if he had blinked at that moment.

(Don't tell me that's a Greater healing potion he just used on them.) He thought as he weakly nodded. The endless surprises he was getting did not seem very good for his heart.

Gard looked at him for a moment before he turned and began to walk back to the smithy. "The rest of your wares are on the way.

Luck watched in silence as the dwarven smith walked into the smithy. Of course, he was accompanied by his two 'bodyguards'.

Luck was starting to think that Gard may be more dangerous than they.

Luck sighed in exasperation as he motioned for his two summons to come forward. It was time for an upgrade.
