"It doesn't make sense."
Elbert Rivers and Heath Woods shook their heads almost simultaneously.
After a pause, Heath Woods said, "Since it doesn't make sense, Dirk Carter must have a purpose for doing this. What is his purpose?"
Dirk Carter pondered for a moment.
He said, "Now that the police have issued a warrant for him, escaping has become very difficult. This presents two possibilities. The first possibility is that someone wants him to do this. Once successful, they assist him in fleeing or in silencing a witness. There's also a second possibility, which is to lure the tiger away from the mountain—"
"Lure the tiger away from the mountain? What do you mean?"
Heath Woods asked.
Dirk Carter replied, "We've officially launched an investigation into the Polly Linden case, led by us, the Disciplinary Commission, with the police. Regardless of who this so-called big leader is, they're already getting nervous. So, it's possible they're drawing us away, and then..."
