The dining hall felt almost festive, despite having fewer trainees than ever.
I'd expected Jisoo to be organizing the welcome party he'd announced outside my room.
Instead, I found him at the Category One buffet, balancing a plate piled with grilled meat, seafood, and enough dessert for three people.
"What happened to the party?" I asked.
"Cancelled."
"Why?"
He gestured grandly with his fork. "Jiwon, look around. This is the party."
Doyun, seated nearby, raised an eyebrow. "We've finally discovered something that can stop him talking."
"I'm talking right now."
"You stopped to chew. That's progress."
I laughed and collected dinner before joining them, Yuhyun, and Jinwook near the windows. Our registration packets lay between the plates. It was six-thirty; showcase formats were due by eight.
