The stage looked almost empty.
After the elaborate sets and restless lighting of the previous performances, eight narrow spotlights seemed impossibly small.
Each marked a separate position. Behind us, the twelve-piece orchestra waited beneath soft amber light, Conductor Lee poised at her podium.
Eight folded letters floated across the LED wall.
I took my place on the elevated platform, stage left. Somewhere beyond the lights, thousands of people waited for us to begin.
Normally, I'd have been searching for cameras. Tonight, I looked across the stage.
Yuhyun caught my gaze from the opposite side.
He nodded.
Conductor Lee raised her baton.
And the orchestral started.
Seungho began.
"If I could send a letter
To the boy I used to be,
I'd tell him, 'Keep the light on.'
There's a place you're meant to see."
His voice was quiet enough that the audience seemed to lean toward it. A cello joined the piano, followed by a thin thread of violins.
Sejin's spotlight brightened.
