I looked down at my envelope.
"Inside is a number," Trainer Song continued.
"One through eight. Each number corresponds to a singer's section of Eight Letters. You will perform that section. Immediately. With the orchestra. One minute to review the score if you need it."
Jaehyuk's head came up.
"You couldn't have mentioned this before?"
"That would defeat the purpose."
Jaehyuk pressed his lips together.
"One condition," Trainer Song added. "You cannot draw your own part."
I opened my envelope.
A single card. A single number.
5.
Singer Five.
Sunwoo's part.
I turned to find him already looking at me, his own card visible in his hand.
He'd drawn someone else's number too.
Around me, the quiet unraveled as everyone processed theirs.
Sejin's brow furrowing, Harin going still, Woobin immediately pulling the score from under his arm and flipping to the relevant page.
One minute
