The production assistant didn't linger.
"Everything on the tables is yours. Please clean up when you're finished."
She gestured at the tables, and walked back up the path toward the hanok before anyone thought to ask a follow-up question.
Trainer Song was already gone.
Nobody appeared to help.
Eight trainees stood around a stone fire pit with live coals, raw pork belly, sliced beef, mushrooms, spring onions, perilla leaves, and enough banchan to fill a restaurant side table.
"So," Sunwoo said. "Who—"
"I'll handle the grill." Jaehyuk picked up the tongs before the sentence finished.
Nobody stopped him. He had that energy. The kind that fills a vacuum immediately, confidently, and not always correctly.
He laid six thick strips of pork belly directly over the hottest section of the grill.
The fat hit the coals with an immediate aggressive hiss.
"You want to start on the cooler edge," Harin said, without looking up from the vegetable tray he'd quietly pulled toward himself.
