I woke at eight with a dull ache in my legs, shoulders, and lower back.
Three hours of practice. Five hours of sleep. The biggest performance of my life ahead.
The compound was unusually quiet. No assistants calling us to rehearsal. We'd been told to pack and assemble for transport to Olympus Hall.
Today, the competition would end.
After washing up, I headed downstairs.
The cafeteria looked almost disappointingly ordinary. Last night's white tablecloths, flower arrangements, and enormous platters had disappeared. The usual metal tables were back, complete with scratches and the light that flickered beside the vending machines.
The feast felt imaginary now.
Jisoo sat with his cheek propped on one hand, staring sleepily at his breakfast.
"You alive?" I asked, taking the seat opposite him.
"Alive is debatable."
Doyun arrived with a tray. "You've already been eliminated by sleep deprivation."
"Please don't say eliminated today," Jisoo mumbled.
