Morpheus arrived at the office to find Olga Marie flipping through documents.
"What's up?" he asked with a smile.
Though she was looking at the papers, Morpheus could tell her mind was elsewhere.
She continued pretending to read for a moment, and Morpheus, grinning, didn't call her out. Instead, he pulled over a chair, sat down, and waited for her to finish her act.
After about a minute, Olga Marie gave a light cough, set the documents down, and looked at him. "Oh, you're here."
"So, what did you call me for, Director?" Morpheus asked. "Is it about handling something in those files? If so, couldn't you just contact me through our Master-Servant link? That'd be faster, especially if it's urgent... no time wasted on the way."
Olga Marie took a deep breath. He was right... if it was urgent, the Master-Servant contract link was the best way to communicate. But could what she wanted to say be conveyed so casually?!
How close would their relationship need to be for that?!
Besides, what she had to say was serious... it had to be face-to-face!
Thinking this, she said, "I called you for something important. You know your strength is top-tier in Chaldea. If your condition falters, it'll greatly impact our operations."
Morpheus nodded. "You're right. I'm just too important. Can't help it... I'm that awesome."
Seeing his shameless grin, Olga Marie inhaled deeply. Sometimes, Morpheus was so narcissistic!
And infuriatingly so!
Where was the gentlemanly demeanor? Completely gone!
"Humor is part of a gentleman's charm, dear lady," Morpheus said, as if reading her thoughts, smiling.
"Now, can you tell me what's up?" he asked.
Olga Marie, initially nervous and unsure how to broach the topic, relaxed a bit from his teasing. But now, faced with his question, she felt awkward.
She'd been ready to admonish him sternly about not indulging too much, but now, relaxed, she didn't know how to say it.
After wrestling with it, she finally said, "You spent last night with Medea?"
"Yeah," Morpheus nodded naturally, as if there was nothing to hide. "It's been a while, so we talked a lot... about old times, her experiences, and some things she saw in the Throne of Heroes."
At this, Morpheus grew more excited.
"Heroic Spirits in the Throne can interact, but each Servant's social circle is limited, so there aren't many they regularly connect with.
"Medea mostly interacts with Artemis and other Greek heroes."
Olga Marie's interest piqued. "They can connect in the Throne of Heroes?"
It was new intel, a first for her.
"Yeah, so if Servants who know each other are summoned in a Holy Grail War, they likely have no secrets from one another. But their familiarity might lead to unexpected outcomes," Morpheus said, thinking of the Fifth Holy Grail War in the standard timeline. How would Medea feel seeing a maddened Heracles?
She might've been relieved it was a Berserker Heracles. A sane Heracles might've made her reconsider seizing the Grail.
Of course, these were just guesses. In the Fifth War, Medea fell for her Master, sacrificing for love... a classic Medea move, driven by her romantic nature.
Olga Marie glanced at Morpheus's body. Though clothed, his physique was clearly exceptional, perfectly proportioned.
She reluctantly tore her gaze away, asking, "How's your recovery going?"
"No issues. I can run and jump fine," Morpheus said. The power of the archangels constantly protected him, keeping the toxins at bay until they naturally dissipated.
Olga Marie sighed in relief. After chatting for about ten minutes, she seemed to forget why she'd called him.
Seeing this, Morpheus said goodbye, ready to leave, but she stopped him at the door.
"Wait!"
Morpheus turned, puzzled. "Something else?"
"I haven't told you why I called you!"
Olga Marie's voice rose, her eyes resolute, as if facing a life-or-death moment.
"It's… it's about you and Medea. I know you're close, and it's normal to lose control after reuniting, but you need to be careful. You're just recovering. You must prioritize your combat strength, not just for your health but for humanity's future. If you falter, our plans get delayed!"
Morpheus was stunned. He hadn't expected this. Seeing him stare, Olga Marie's cheeks burned, but she tried to stay composed. "What? Is that too hard?"
She was incredibly nervous. If she were alive, her heart would've leapt out and bounced on the floor from sheer momentum.
What was she even saying? Would he think she was weird?!
She panicked, wishing she could hide in a hole.
Morpheus stayed silent for a long moment.
Just as Olga Marie's embarrassment peaked, he spoke.
"It's not hard. I think you misunderstood, Director," Morpheus said, smiling. "Last night, we really just talked. Even if I wanted more, I couldn't... it'd harm her."
His response let Olga Marie breathe a secret sigh of relief. If he hadn't answered, she wouldn't have known what to do. But he did, and he didn't seem offended, which eased her.
Then she caught the key point.
"What do you mean, 'can't' or it'd harm her?"
Morpheus explained that the toxins in his body weren't fully cleared, only suppressed by the archangels' power, and it'd take time to eliminate them completely. Olga Marie felt a chill of fear.
"Your magic training is fast but dangerous. Are you sure you don't need Romani to check you?"
Morpheus shook his head. "No need. I know my condition. Besides, with Archangel Raphael's power, my body won't collapse."
Seeing Olga Marie still worried, he added, "Two or three days, and I'll be fine. I'll control my impulses, so don't worry, Director!"
Confirming he wasn't lying, Olga Marie glared at him. "Fine, I got it. Go!"
"Alright, but rest, okay? Oh, right, you're a ghost... no need for rest," Morpheus teased, leaving the office as Olga Marie glared.
His words made her grit her teeth. She longed for real fatigue, for sleep to relieve it!
If possible, she wanted her human body back to fully enjoy things.
Even if a ghost's body could do the same, it felt… odd, hard to accept.
...
"Demi-Servant, a fusion of human and Servant, granting humans Servant traits…" Medea gently held Mash's hand, her soft touch making Mash tense.
"No need to be nervous, Miss Mash. I'm just curious about your body," Medea said with a smile. As a magician and magus, she instantly saw through Mash's condition.
"Last time, my copy couldn't examine you much... time was short, and it was just a copy, lacking strength. But now, with my true self here, I can easily see your state."
Mash grew more nervous, swallowing hard. "Is there a problem, Lady Medea?"
"No problems. Your body is so healthy, I can't find any hidden issues. It's like a divinely crafted human body. If you were just human, you might get sick, but as a Demi-Servant, you won't.
"Your body is a perfect human form with normal immunity, but now, with Servant traits, your immunity is Servant-like. Normal diseases can't touch you."
Though Romani's tech-based check had already confirmed her health, Mash couldn't help but feel thrilled again. Medea's magical examination, using a different method, reached the same conclusion... her body was in top shape.
"All thanks to Morpheus-senpai. He saved me," Mash said softly.
Hearing Morpheus's name, Medea's interest spiked. "Tell me more. I'm curious."
Anything involving Morpheus always piqued her curiosity.
She heard a short but bizarre tale.
Morpheus took on the role of the Son of God, using his blood as a cure to heal Mash's hidden ailments, even fixing genetic issues like accelerated aging.
Medea pondered. "So, he used symbolic power to replicate the Son of God's miracles. Morpheus sure knows how to wield symbolism masterfully."
She glanced at Jeanne Alter. The formula was the same... sainthood transformation... but applied differently.
For Mash, it was blood to heal; for Jeanne Alter, symbolic bearing of original sin.
"That form is powerful. By nearing sainthood, he can unleash strength far beyond human limits," Ritsuka said nearby. "From the Servants I've seen, none have pushed Morpheus to use it."
Medea's lips curved. She knew Morpheus's strength didn't require it... not yet, at least, until facing Goetia.
As for Goetia?
Medea clenched her fist, her eyes flashing dangerously.
She'd make Goetia feel the magical assaults the giants once faced!
"What are you all doing?" Morpheus walked in, curious at seeing Medea holding Mash's wrist.
"Nothing, just curious about Mash's body, examining it," Medea replied with a smile. "This state is worth studying to develop similar magic. It won't match your sainthood magic, but a Servant transformation formula should be easier to learn and control, right?"
Morpheus paused, then his eyes lit up.
"Right! Sainthood is tough and demanding, but mimicking Mash's state to push the human body into Servant territory could work. If successful, everyone could achieve true Servant transformation, focusing on mana-based physical enhancement with fewer conceptual requirements!"
Excited, he rushed to Medea, kissed her lips hard, and dashed for the door.
As he ran, he shouted, "I'm testing the new magic! Eat dinner without me!"
