"DXD: Infinite Loot System"Chapter 334: Rias's Declaration of War
"Stop, Lucy! Don't you dare run!"
"Just wait—we're gonna catch you!"
The hall was a swirl of chaos. Tenra sat beside Ophis, showing her the finer points of video games, while Ile and Nel—those two irrepressible troublemakers—chased a squealing pink sprite in circles.
"Wuuu…"
Trapped, the sprite made a desperate dash, diving straight into Ophis's lap and curling into a trembling ball.
This little pink sprite was Lucy, the familiar Tenra had caught for Asia back in the Familiar Forest. Asia had named her herself.
Contract or not, a familiar needed love and attention. Asia would often summon Lucy to play together, but tonight she was busy in the kitchen, prepping dinner for everyone. The sprite-sitting, unfortunately, fell to Ile and Nel.
Unlike gentle Asia, these two were pure mischief. They treated Lucy like a toy, chasing her relentlessly until she finally escaped to the only safe haven she could find—Ophis.
Maybe it was the subtle sense of kinship, dragon to dragon, but Lucy only felt truly safe in Ophis's arms.
"Hey, hey, Ophis-chan, can we have Lucy back? Pleeease?"
Ile and Nel crowded around, sugar-sweet voices at maximum volume.
After all these days together, no one in the house was afraid of Ophis anymore—though the awe reserved for a god still lingered.
"No."
Ophis glanced at the trembling sprite, then at the two girls, and gave her answer with perfect deadpan.
"Ophis-chan, what if we trade you for this?"
Eyes gleaming with mischief, Ile and Nel produced an oversized lollipop, waving it under Ophis's nose.
They'd learned the trick: whenever you wanted Ophis's help, just offer snacks or sweets. Works every time.
Ophis's face didn't change, but her eyes flickered with interest. Still, seeing Lucy's miserable state made her hesitate. In the Dragon God's mind, lollipop and sprite weighed against each other—temptation and sympathy, battling for dominance.
"That's enough, you two. Asia's familiar isn't your plaything!"
Tenra rapped both little heads, confiscated the lollipop, and handed it straight to Ophis.
"Wuuu… Tenra-sama's so unfair…"
Clutching their heads, Ile and Nel's eyes welled up with tears, faces the very picture of wounded innocence.
Not only did they lose out on Lucy, their precious lollipop had been seized too. Total defeat.
"Oh, so I'm unfair? Fine—I'll show you some real favoritism!"
Tenra flashed a wicked grin. Sensing trouble, Ile and Nel tried to bolt, but Tenra caught them, one in each hand.
"Hahaha—stop! It tickles! It tickles!"
"We're sorry, Tenra-sama!"
"No, no—hahaha!"
Later, at the dinner table, Tenra and Rias's group dug into a feast. Even Lucy was there, sprawled in front of her own tiny plate, nibbling away with obvious delight.
Midway through the meal, Rias set down her utensils and spoke up, voice clear and calm.
"Tenra, I've already put in the request with my brother. Our next Rating Game match will be between you and me."
The room went silent. Even Tenra blinked in surprise.
"Rias, you're serious?"
She met his gaze, eyes unwavering. "Do you think I'm joking?"
Seeing the determination in her face, Tenra knew she meant it. Which, honestly, made things complicated.
"Rias, there's really no need for us to fight. If it's just for the tournament, I can always forfeit."
Rias's tone dropped, a hint of anger in her voice. "Are you looking down on us, Tenra?"
He sighed. "You know I've never underestimated you. I've always respected your strength."
"Then fight me!"
Rias stood, a spark of emotion in her eyes. "We promised, remember? A real, honest duel. I've been working toward this day for a long time!"
She knew she couldn't beat him. Still, Rias wanted to fight. Even if she lost, she wanted to prove herself.
"Ara ara, I'd love to fight Tenra too," Akeno chimed in, voice playful.
"Me too, me too! Don't think you've already won, you big meanie!" Irina added, puffing her cheeks.
"After losing to Sacred Master-sama last time, I've been itching for payback!" Yubelluna declared.
"Tenra-senpai…" Koneko's eyes sparkled. "A match against the Red Dragon Emperor sounds fun, nya."
One after another, the girls voiced their excitement, eager for the challenge.
Tenra rubbed his forehead, then grinned as his own fighting spirit flared.
"Rias, if you're all so fired up, then let's do it!"
"I'll give it everything I've got. Just don't cry when you lose."
Rias smirked. "You're the one who shouldn't feel embarrassed if you lose to us."
Their eyes locked—Tenra, Rias, Akeno, Yubelluna, Koneko, and the rest. The air between them crackled with anticipation.
Comrades would become rivals, every move and secret known to both sides. This was a match worth waiting for.
"Oh, and I made a suggestion to my brother," Rias added, her eyes glinting with mischief. "This match will have some very special rules."
"Special rules?" Tenra raised an eyebrow.
"Yep—rules you've never seen before. Can't tell you yet, but I promise, you'll be surprised."
Rias's smile was downright sly.
"Heh, now I'm really curious," Tenra replied. If Rias called it a surprise, he'd just have to wait and see.
The match was set, though the Underworld was still working out the details. Both Tenra and Rias were rising stars among the new generation of devils, and as fiancé and fiancée, their battle drew plenty of attention.
Excitement, anticipation—everyone looked forward to the showdown. Yet no one realized that, in the shadows, a storm was quietly brewing…
