"DXD: Infinite Loot System"Chapter 328: The Pantyless Goddess
"O-Ophis?!"
Rossweisse had just returned from her trip to Northern Europe, arms laden with gifts. But the moment she spotted Ophis in the living room, the usually unflappable Valkyrie nearly dropped everything.
The boss of the enemy faction—right here, in their home? Had the place been conquered while she was gone for a week?
"No need to panic, Rossweisse. Let us explain—"
Ophis, busy nibbling on sweets, barely spared her a glance before returning to her snack. Rias and the other girls rushed to fill Rossweisse in, recounting the whole story.
Even after the explanation, Rossweisse still looked shell-shocked. Clearly, reality would take a while to sink in.
The others understood. Except for Tenra, they'd all been on edge at first—constantly worried the goddess might snap and go berserk. But after days of living together, their fear faded. Ophis was less terrifying than she'd seemed. The boldest troublemakers, Ile and Nel, now dragged Ophis off to play games as if she were just another friend.
In the lounge—
"This is genuine Northern European tea—crazy expensive. Don't waste a drop," Rossweisse instructed as Mira and Bürent poured steaming cups for everyone.
Her pained expression drew amused looks from Tenra and the girls.
Rossweisse was famously frugal. Even after joining Rias's household—with all its generous perks—she pinched every penny, never buying anything extravagant for herself. Her favorite haunt? The local discount store, of course.
In this respect, Rossweisse was worlds apart from the big-spending devils, who barely understood the concept of budgeting.
"Tastes excellent," Tenra said, sampling the tea.
"Rossweisse, you went home to dig up research materials, right? Any luck?" he asked.
"Found everything I needed. Give me a little time, and my magic will hit a whole new level!" Rossweisse's eyes sparkled with confidence.
A true magical prodigy. If Rossweisse said she'd made progress, everyone believed her. The room filled with congratulations and cheer.
They peppered her with questions about her trip, and Rossweisse answered each one with her usual efficiency.
Crash!
Everyone turned. Ophis's teacup had slipped from her hand and shattered on the floor, splashing tea across her clothes.
"Ophis-chan, are you hurt? Did you get burned?" Asia and Mira rushed over, worried that the goddess might have been scalded.
"No," Ophis replied, utterly unfazed.
The tea was hot, but even a hundred times hotter wouldn't have left a mark on her.
"Your clothes are stained, Ophis-chan. Let's get you something clean to wear," Asia said, gently dabbing at the mess.
"I don't have any other clothes."
Asia and the others stared, stunned. Almost in unison, they turned to Ravel.
Ravel blushed, a little embarrassed. "Ophis-sama doesn't need things like that."
Since Ophis had first arrived, everyone had been too intimidated to fuss over her. Ravel was the only one who looked after her—sharing a room, keeping her company at night.
"Come to think of it, Ophis has worn the same outfit since she got here," Rias mused.
"Um, Ophis-chan, dirty clothes should be changed. Otherwise it's not sanitary," Asia insisted.
"They don't get dirty."
A wave of vast magical power rippled out from Ophis, making her dress flutter. Instantly, every trace of stain vanished.
Well, that was convenient. But—wasn't that a bit overkill for laundry?
Even though Ophis had only casually flexed her power, the sheer, suffocating force nearly made the girls faint.
"O-Ophis-chan, you're not wearing panties?!"
Asia, recovering first, turned beet red, eyes wide in shock. She'd clearly glimpsed something she wasn't supposed to see.
"Panties?" Ophis echoed, blankly.
"I don't have those, either." She lifted her skirt for a quick check, then confirmed.
Because she's a goddess, she doesn't need underwear? The revelation sent a flush through the room. Rias and the girls blushed furiously. Tenra craned his neck, trying to sneak a peek—only to be blocked by Koneko's deadpan glare.
"Tenra-senpai, what exactly are you trying to see?"
Busted. He coughed and looked away, feigning innocence.
"Ophis, didn't anyone in Khaos Brigade get you things like food or clothes?" Rias sighed.
"No. Nothing."
So it was true. She needed nothing—an easy-to-please goddess, if ever there was one.
But since moving in, Ophis was always eating snacks. Left alone, she could munch quietly all day. Clearly, she liked these things—Khaos Brigade simply hadn't bothered to provide for her.
"Ophis-chan, what did you do every day in Khaos Brigade?" Irina asked, unable to hide her curiosity.
"Stayed in my room. Sat in a chair. Granted wishes. Gave them snakes."
"That's it?" The girls were speechless.
"Vali sometimes came by to talk," Ophis added after a moment's thought.
A heavy silence fell. Then the girls' faces twisted in outrage.
How could those villains treat Ophis this way? They exploited her powers, demanded her help, but couldn't even provide basic food or clothing. Their stinginess put even the worst capitalists to shame!
Fury erupted. The girls cursed the Khaos Brigade misers, wishing them a lifetime of poverty in their next lives.
"Decision made!" Rias declared, slapping the table. "This weekend, we're going shopping—and we're buying Ophis everything she needs!"
"Yay!"
"Shopping! Shopping!"
Eyes sparkling, everyone cheered. Moments ago, they'd been cursing the Khaos Brigade. Now they were excitedly listing what they wanted to buy.
Tenra could only sigh. Wasn't this mood shift a little too abrupt?
