Cherreads

Chapter 43 - Chapter 43

|3rd POV|

Rannick looks at the report in front of him and nods his head in satisfaction. With the technology Kael created for them, purging heretics gets easier. When he is done reading the report, he looks at the live feed of the Astra Militarum hunting down the remaining heretics in the Branx Magna.

It turns out, Atom Prime is not the only planet that breeds heretics. Branx Magna, an industrial world that produces all metal used in the system, is full of heretics who use the warp to create abominations. However, because of the Purifying of the World, which he calls the separation Kael performs against the Greater Daemon, the heretics can no longer access their greatest weapons. Without their greatest weapons, the Astra Militarum easily killed them thanks to their superior training and equipment.

"How is the situation on the other planets, Major Sergeant?"

Rannick turns around toward Major Sergeant Marrow, who looks at the map in front of him. Marrow looks at him and says.

"The last time Astra Telepathica gave me the report, it was according to the plan, Inquisitor Rannick."

"Truly? That is good. We cannot disappoint His Holiness, after all. He has done a great thing, and it is now our duty to make sure his work cannot be tainted."

Just like all the people who witnessed the fight between Kael and the Greater Daemon, Rannick's faith was boosted to a new limit. In fact, a new religion is slowly growing. It is a religion that holds Kael to be a God, an Avatar of the God Emperor. It is a religion that still worships the God Emperor, but also worships Kael as the avatar of the God Emperor.

In this religion, Kael is the Avatar of the God Emperor, wielding his domain over purification and technology.

"Yes, sir. With the help of the Sutherland Units, Omnissiah's Gear, we were able to clear a large part of the planet with ease."

"Good. Good. Do you have any news from Atoma Prime? How is the Warband in Tertium?"

"The last time I heard, they are cleaning the Mutated Beasts in the underhive area. Explicator Zola is leading the attack group, and she is doing it rather fast."

"Orgustine? It is good that she decided to use her time wisely. Anything else?"

"Nothing worth noting, sir. In fact—"

Before Marrow can say more, someone runs toward them and gives them a salute.

"Sir! I am sorry to disturb you! However, we received some emergency news!"

"Yes? Out with it, soldier. Don't keep us waiting."

"Yes, sir! The Astra Telepathica receives news from Holy Terra, sir! The first news is good news! Our Lord and Saviour, God Emperor, walks among mortals once again!"

The news makes the entire bridge go silent. As if the time itself stops working, the silence is so deafening. After a few seconds, Rannick looks at the soldiers and says,

"Is this a joke, soldier? Lying to an inquisitor will not be good for you, you know? Especially when you lie about our God Emperor."

"N-No, sir! This is the direct information from the Chief of Astra Telepathica in Mourningstar. It is coming from Holy Terry itself!"

"I see."

That is the only thing Rannick can say because even he doesn't know what to say about that news. After a few seconds of silence, he takes a deep breath and says,

"What is the second news? You said that it was the first news."

"Yes, sir! The second piece of news concerns Lord Regent, Lord Guilliman. He is coming to the Moebian Domain, and he should arrive in seven days of Holy Terran Time. His Holiness asks you to return to Atoma Prime to greet Lord Guilliman."

Rannick nods his head in understanding. If someone as important as the Son of the God Emperor is visiting your system, you need to return and greet him.

"Understood. We shall make sure to take over this planet before his arrival, then. Is there more news for me?"

"No, sir! That is all."

"Very well. Go back to your station, soldier."

"Yes, sir!"

Rannick then turns around at Marrow and says.

"It looks like we need to deploy the Rejects earlier, Sergeant Major."

"Yes, sir. We need to deploy them early to make sure we take over the major cities."

"Make sure you deploy them at the point of interest, Sergeant Major. We need them to strike hard and fast. Fit them with good enough equipment. They might not have the same training as the Astra Militarum, but they are good enough to be thrown as a meat shield for the other team."

"Yes, sir. I shall deploy them now."

Rannick nods his head and looks at the map in front of him. If the Rejects can take the point of interest and ensure they kill every heretic the medallion points to, they can take over Branx Magna in a few days.

Or at least the rest of the people are able to take over the planet without his supervision.

The reconquest of the Moebian Domain is going smoothly, and soon this domain will be free of Heretics, allowing them to start expanding. Incron is the only planet that continues to resist because the nobles think they still have power over the domain.

However, the Salamander was already sent there alongside the Katanda Stalwart Regiment. Sooner or later, that hive world will fall in line. Salamander will be the one cleansing the world from heretics, and the Katanda will be the one making sure the nobles know that the Inquisitor is above their so-called power.

Especially when he can call over Exterminatus if he has enough evidence of their Heretical action.

I look at the device in front of me with a smile. This is my personal project. This medallion lets me know if a heretic is nearby, but it is only a front for its real purpose. Its real purpose is to let me handle the power of the Soul Stone or other Infinity Stones.

Using the combination of [Tinker – Alchemist (IV)] and [Tinker – Defence (IV)], I am able to make this device. It looks like a regular medallion, but inside the medallion is a Soul Stone. Just like the Eye of Agamotto, I can use the Soul Stone as long as the medallion is not far away from me.

I put on the medallion, and the world changed. I blink for a second because I can see all the souls in Sanctuary. I know all the people in this place, and how their souls are. Some of them have damaged souls because of the exposure to Nurgle's power, and I know I can fix that.

Following my will, the Soul Stone moves and unleashes its power.

An unseen force swipes across the Sanctuary and fixes all the damaged souls. I break the claim Nurgle over the souls of the people of Sanctuary and heal their souls from the corruption of the taint.

I can hear a distant, angry roar from the Warp. Its gurgling roar of anger makes me smile. Nurgle can only roar in anger as more and more souls of the people of the Atoma Prime disappear from his grip.

I release a sigh and look at the medallion with a smile. As expected of a Divine Item. Its power is something else entirely. However, I can feel a strain from using the Soul Stone's power. It is not much, but I think I cannot heal billions of souls at once. A million will put on a rather heavy strain, ten million will be heavier, and at twenty, I think my soul cannot handle the strain, and I will fall unconscious.

The power of the Soul Stone uses my soul as a conduit, while the device allows me to tap and use the power of the stone itself. I need to see if I can create a device that does not use my soul or body as a conduit for the stone's power.

I am making this device based on what I know from the Infinite Gauntlet. However, it is not enough, as I still need my soul as a conduit.

I will think of it later. For now, it is good enough. At the moment, I need to start a project that will allow me to enchant the troops even more. While making the medallion, I received a lot of ideas, you see? The [Tinker – Alchemist (IV)] gave me a lot of ideas that let me enchant my guardians.

I can use a little bit of my blood to create a serum that grants people a lesser version of my traits. There are a few traits that will grant my Guardians a great boost. Among them are: [Uzumaki], [Natural Restoration], [Mithril Skeleton], and [Marathoner].

These combinations will grant my Guardians a high-level regeneration, a big boost in stamina, a big boost in durability, and high resistance to poison, venom, and mental attack.

It is a shame I cannot include [Viltrumite Physiology] here, since it is an ability rather than a trait. I can only put a trait into a serum, not an ability. However, I can try to mimic it, but it will require further experimentation.

For now, I need to make the Defence-Based serum first.

With a hum, I walk to my work table and prepare to take some of my blood. However, before I can do that, I can hear Rita's voice from the door.

"My lord."

"Come in, Rita."

She walks inside and gives me a bow before saying.

"My lord, there is news from the Astra Telepathica division."

"Oh? Tell me."

"Lord Regent, Master of Ultramar, Primarch of Ultramarine, Lord Guilliman will arrive at Atoma Prime in Seven Days!"

"I see."

Shit. It looks like I will meet with Papa Smurf.
