'What?' Solace was baffled. 'What is Carcosa?'
'And more than that, what's up with the result of failure?'
'Who in their right mind would accept such an outrageous quest?'
There was no reason for him to gain the attention of the church this early in the plot.
'Yes, they know of me, but they still think I survived because I was getting carried by the noble heirs.
This will not only put me in the spotlight and risk bringing the danger of the church to my doorstep. This would mean risking my family that I have found in this world.'

'What the hell?' Who is the person behind this stupid quest?
"If this is mandatory, why give me an option in the first place?" He groaned
That being said, this was not a hard quest to complete. Sure, Solace and the others were now competing with the second years. But they were also layer 2 and on the verge of a breakthrough. All of them were currently on Layer 2 in the rank (E-).
The tough part was that second years, too, had an insane number of gifted children.
There were mainly four characters who ruled second year in the novel.
Solace didn't know of the current rank five, but from the novels he knew about the rest of them.
At rank four was Kang. In the novel he was a negative character, bullying other children weaker than him. He also worked as a bodyguard for an elder's son. If I recall correctly, he had powers related to sound.
At rank three was Alexia Brightfall. She was more of a softhearted girl with over-the-top reactions. She had the thread of love and mind. Furthermore, she was pretty dangerous in the novel, even taking on some of the cardinals of the church.
At rank two was Leon Hartmann. Noble. He's basically the male version of Alexia. But he's actually smart, calm, collective, and a pretty awesome dude, to be honest. Although his potential is pretty low, he can only advance to Layer 3. His powers were related to rock.
Then comes the character I am most worried about. Rank 1: Michael Hern, a goddamn psychopath. He is the guy that you want to stay away from. He is the second son of an elder in the Imperial Court. Not only that, but he is the most obnoxious character whose whole personality is picking a fight. If that's not enough, he has powers related to gravity and darkness, and he has a brother in third year that helps him out. He was literally a third-rate villain.
Oh, also, Kang is his bodyguard.
'What a predicament!'
